촉매연소용 촉매담체인 $\gamma$-$Al_2O_3$의 열안정화에 미치는 Ba의 첨가 효과에 대하여 연구하였다. Ba의 첨가는 $Ba(No_3)_3$.$6H_2O$를 $\gamma$-$Al_2O_3$ 분말에 wet impergnation시키는 방법으로 행하였다. Ba는 $\gamma$-$Al_2O_3$의 소결을 억제함으로써 $\gamma$-$Al_2O_3$의 열안정화에 효과적인 첨가제임을 확인하였으며 최적의 첨가량은 전체 열처리 조건에서 5 mol%임을 알 수 있었다. 이러한 Ba첨가에 의한 열안정화 효과는 이온반경이 큰 $Ba^{2+}$이온이 $\Al^{3+}$이온의 자리에 치환하여 $\Al^{3+}$이온의 표면 확산을 억제하는 효과에서 기인하는 것으로 사료된다. The effect of Ba addition on the thermal stabilization of $\gamma$-$Al_2O_3$ powders were studied. Ba additive was introduced into $\gamma$-$Al_2O_3$ powders by wet impregnation of $Ba(No_3)_3$.$6H_2O$. Ba additive was proved to be effective on the thermal stabilization of $\gamma$-$Al_2O_3$ powders by suppression of sintering. The optimum content of Ba was determined by 5 mol%, through the calcinations temperature range. It is suggested that the main reason of thermal stabilizaton is the substitution effect of large $Ba^{2+}$ ions into the $\Al^{3+}$ sites, which suppressed the surface diffusion of $\Al^{3+}$ ions.
진공 압출성형 및 래밍성형 공정에 의한 탄화규소 캔들 필터 제조 및 특성 (II)

Porous SiC candle filter preforms were fabricated by extrusion and ramming process. To fabricate SiC candle filter preform, commercially available F180 mesh ($85\;{\mu}m$) $\alpha$-SiC powder and $44\;{\mu}m$ mullite, $CaCO_3$ powder were used as the starting materials. The candle type preforms were fabricated by vacuum extrusion and ramming process, and sintered at $1400^{\circ}C$ 2 h in air atmosphere. Corrosion test of the sintered candle filter specimens as forming method was performed at $600^{\circ}C$ for 2,400 h in simulated IGCC syngas atmosphere. The effect of forming method on mechanical properties, pore distribution, microstructure and crystalline phase was investigated.

석탄가스화 복합발전 시스템의 집진설비용 다공성 탄화수소 캔들 필터 제조를 위해 래밍성형과 진공 압출성형 공정에 외해 캔들필터 성형체를 제조하였다. 다양한 입도를 갖는 탄화규소 분말을 출발원료로 하였으며, 비점토계 무기 소결조제로 뮬라이트와 칼슘 카보네이트 분말을 사용하였다. 래밍성형과 진공 압출성형에 의한 캔들 필터 성형체들은 대기 분위기 $1400^{\circ}C$에서 2시간 소성하여 제조하였다. 캔들 필터 성형공정과 출발원료 입도가 소결된 다공성 캔들 필터 지지층의 기공율, 밀도, 강도 (굽힘강도, 압축강도)와 미세구조에 미치는 영향을 조사하였다. 래밍성형 공정에 외한 제조원 다공성 탄화규소 캔들 필터 소결체가 압출성형된 필터에 비해 높은 밀도 및 강도를 나타내고 있었으며, 그 최고 값은 각각 $2.0\;g/cm^3$과 45 MPa이었다. 한편 캔들 필터 지지층의 장기 내식성 평가 예측을 위하여 소결된 시편에 대해 석탄가스화 복합발전 $600^{\circ}C$의 모사 합성가스 분위기에서 2400시간 부식실험을 수행하였다. To fabricate porous SiC candle filter for filtration facility of the IGCC system, the candle type filter preforms were fabricated by ramming and vacuum extrusion process. A commercially available ${\alpha}$-SiC powders with various particle size were used as starting raw materials, and $44\;{\mu}m$ mullite, $CaCO_3$ powder were used as non-clay based inorganic sintering additive. The candle typed preforms by ramming process and vacuum extrusion were sintered at $1400^{\circ}C$ for 2h in air atmosphere. The effect of forming method and particle size of filter matrix on porosity, density, strength (flexural and compressive strength) and microstructure of the sintered porous SiC candle tilters were investigated. The sintered porous SiC filters which were fabricated by ramming process have more higher density and strength than extruded filter in same particle size of the matrix, and its maximum density and 3-point bending strength were $2.00\;g/cm^3$ and 45 MPa, respectively. Also, corrosion test of the sintered candle filter specimens by different forming method was performed at $600^{\circ}C$ for 2400h using IGCC syngas atmosphere for estimation of long-term reliability of the candle filter matrix.

탄화규소 캔들형 필터의 제조 및 고온고압 하에서의 성능평가

가압유동층 복합발전용으로 사용 가능한 탄화규소 캔들형 필터를 압출성형법으로 제조하였다. 필터의 기공율을 조절하기 위해 2.5 vol%의 탄소분말을 첨가하였고, 필터의 강도를 부여하기 위해 무기결합제로써 점토와 $CaCO_3$를 첨가하였다. 평균 기공율이 약 40%, 평균 기공크기가 약 $47{\mu}m$인 지지체 위에 평균 기공크기가 약 $10{\mu}m$를 갖도록 탄화규소 분말을 분무 코팅하였고, 이후 대기압 분위기 하에서 1400${\circ}C$의 온도로 소결하였다. 코팅층이 형성된 캔들형 필터를 500${\circ}C$, $5kgf/cm^2$의 고온, 고압 하에서 성능평가를 행한 결과 입자크기별 집진 성능이 모두 99.99% 이상을 나타내었다. 따라서 제조된 탄화규소 캔들형 필터는 가압유동층 연소가스에 포함되어 있는 미세한 먼지를 효과적으로 제거할 수 있을 것으로 판단되었다. Silicon carbide candle filters for the pressurized fluidized bed combustion system were fabricated by extrusion process. Carbon black was added to control the porosity. Inorganic additives such as clay and calcium carbonate were added to exhibit appropriate strength. Silicon carbide layer with a finer pore size (mean pore diameter ~$10{\mu}m$) was coated on the silicon carbide support layer (mean pore diameter ~$47{\mu}m$, porosity ∼40%). After that, the filter was sintered at 1400${\circ}C$ in air. We evaluated the filtration performances of the filter at 500${\circ}C$ and $5kgf/cm^2$ of pressure. As a result, high separation efficiency, >99.999% was measured. It is expected that silicon carbide candle filter can be successfully used for the pressurized fluidized bed combustion system.

By gel-casting, the silicon-polymer green bodies were prepared for silicon nitride ceramics, sintered by microwave gas phase reaction. Considering the viscosity and the idle time of slurries, we decided the operational conditions of related processes, and the optimum concentrations of raw materials powders, organic monomers, cross-linker, dispersant, initiator, and catalyst. So we could get the machinable green bodies, having about 50 MPa of bending strength without cracks by selecting drying conditions carefully.
