      • In-situ synthesis of nanofibers with various ratios of BiOClx/BiOBry/BiOIz for effective trichloroethylene photocatalytic degradation

        Zhang, Y.,Park, M.,Kim, H.Y.,Ding, B.,Park, S.J. New York] ; North-Holland 2016 APPLIED SURFACE SCIENCE - Vol.384 No.-

In this work, BiOClx/BiOBry/BiOIz (x+y+z=1) composite nanofibers were prepared through electrospinning and the sol-gel methods. Photocatalytic degradation of trichloroethylene (TCE) by BiOClx/BiOBry/BiOIz/PAN nanofibers was systematically investigated via gas chromatography (GC). Optimum photocatalytic activity was achieved with BiOCl0.3/BiOBr0.3/BiOI0.4 fibers under solar light irradiation. X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) peaks due to C?O and C?O were observed at 286.0 and 288.3eV, respectively, it indicated that the BiOClx/BiOBry/BiOIz mixture had been successfully doped on the polyacrylonitrile (PAN) fibers. Furthermore, X-ray diffraction (XRD) results also confirmed that we had synthesized the as-prepared composite nanofibers successfully. Photocatalytic activities of BiOCl0.3/BiOBr0.3/BiOI0.4 were up to 3 times higher than the pure BiOCl, BiOBr and BiOI samples, respectively.

Experimental investigation on effect of ion cyclotron resonance heating on density fluctuation in SOL at EAST

        Y.C. Li,M.H. Li,M. Wang,L. Liu,X.J. Zhang,C.M. Qin,Y.F. Wang,C.B. Wu,L.N. Liu,J.C. Xu,B. J. Ding,X. D. Lin,B. J. Ding,X. D. Lin,J. F. Shan,F. K. Liu,Y. P. Zhao,T. Zhang,X. Gao 한국원자력학회 2022 Nuclear Engineering and Technology Vol.54 No.1

The suppression of high-intensity blob structures in the scrape-off layer (SOL) by ion-cyclotron range offrequencies (ICRF) power, leading to a decrease in the turbulent fluctuation level, is observed first in theExperimental Advanced Superconducting Tokamak (EAST) experiment. This suppression effect from ICRFpower injection is global in the whole SOL at EAST, i.e. blob structures both in the regions that aremagnetically connected to the active ICRF launcher and in the regions that are not connected to theactive ICRF launcher could be suppressed by ICRF power. However, more ICRF power is required to reachthe full blob structure suppression effect in the regions that are magnetically unconnected to the activelauncher than in the regions that are magnetically connected to the active launcher. Studies show that apossible reason for the blob suppression could be the enhanced Er B shear flow in the SOL, which issupported by the shaper radial gradient in the floating potential profiles sensed by the divertor probearrays with increasing ICRF power. The local RF wave power unabsorbed by the core plasma isresponsible for the modification of potential profiles in the SOL regions.

OPTIMIZATION RESEARCH FOR A HIGH PRESSURE COMMON RAIL DIESEL ENGINE BASED ON SIMULATION

        Y. LIU,Y.-T. ZHANG,T. QIU,X. DING,Q. XIONG 한국자동차공학회 2010 International journal of automotive technology Vol.11 No.5

ABSTRACT−A TP (Temperature Phase) model is presented to carry out optimization calculation for a high-pressure common rail diesel engine. Temperature is the most important parameter in the TP model. For the lower branch (when temperature T < 850 K) of the S-shaped curve (auto-ignition phase), a 6-step ad-hoc model with adjusted rate constants of nheptane is used, referred to steady state assumption. Steady state assumption is based on the observation that, due to very fast chemical processes in combustion problems, many chemical species and reactions are in a quasi-steady state or partial equilibrium. When a species is assumed to be in the steady state, the corresponding differential equation can be replaced by an algebraic relation, which reduces the computational costs. For the middle branch (850 K ≤ T < 1100 K) of the S-shaped curve, a 4-step model is used to calculate the unstable phase. For the upper branch (T≥1100 K) of the S-shaped curve, onestep model is used because the one-step model has widely been used in descriptions of flame stability where it essentially serves as a model that produces a thin flame with strong temperature sensitivity. When zone temperature T<1500 K, only the soot precursors –PAHs (Polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons) is created and there is no soot emission. When zone temperature T≥1500 K, PAHs and soot source terms (particle inception, surface growth, oxidation, coagulation) are calculated. The TP model is then applied in multidimensional simulations to carry out optimizing, which reduces experiment cost. The results of cylinder pressures, the corresponding heat release rates, NOx and soot with variation of injection time at constant rail pressure, variation of EGR-rate at constant rail pressure and variation of rail pressure at constant EGR-rate between simulation and experimental data are analyzed. The results indicate that the TP model can carry out optimization and CFD (computational fluid dynamics) and can be a tool to calculate for a high-pressure common rail diesel engine.

        PROPERTIES OF PLASMA SPRAYED COATINGS

Ding, C.X.,Zhang, Y.F.,Xia, J.Y. The Korean Vacuum Society 1995 Applied Science and Convergence Technology Vol.4 No.s2

Plasma spray has attracted attention as an effective method for obtaining protective coatings. In this paper, the physical, mechanical and thermal properties of coatings are reviewed. The microstructural features of the coatings are described. The relationship between the properties of coatings and their microstructure is also discussed. Plasma sprayed coatings are used to reduce wear and improve thermal protection on a large number of components in various industries. In some cases, the conditions of application are very aggressive and therefore the resulting maintenance costs are expensive. Improved coating materials and appropriate properties of coatings are the most promising ways to solve these problems[1,2]. The optimum coating properties depend on the microstructure of coatings[1-5]. In this paper, some ceramic coatings frequently used in industries were reported. The physical, mechanical and thermal properties of ceramic coatings are reviewed. The microstructure features of coatings are addressed. The relationship between the microstructure of coatings and their properties are discussed.

The Expression of Genes Related to Egg Production in the Liver of Taiwan Country Chickens

        Ding, S.T.,Ko, Y.H.,Ou, B.R.,Wang, P.H.,Chen, C.L.,Huang, M.C.,Lee, Y.P.,Lin, E.C.,Chen, C.F.,Lin, H.W.,Cheng, Winston Teng Kuei Asian Australasian Association of Animal Productio 2008 Animal Bioscience Vol.21 No.1

The purpose of this study was to detect expression of genes related to egg production in Taiwan Country chickens by suppression subtractive hybridization. Liver samples of mRNA extraction from two Taiwan Country chicken strains (L2 and B), originated from the same population but with very distinct egg production rates after long-term selection for egg and meat production respectively. Two-way subtraction was performed. The hepatic cDNA from the low egg production chickens (B) was subtracted from the hepatic cDNA from the high egg production strain (L2). The reversed subtraction (L2 from B) was also performed. The resulting differentially expressed gene fragments were cloned and sequenced. We sequenced 288 clones from the forward subtraction and 96 clones from the reverse subtraction. These genes were subjected to further screening to confirm the differential expression between the two genetic breeds of chickens. The apolipoprotein B (apoB) was expressed to a greater extent in the liver of the L2 than in the B line chickens. The 5-aminoimidazole- 4-carboxamide ribonucleotide formyltransferase/IMP cyclohydrolase (PURH) was expressed to a greater extent in the liver of the B than in the L2 strain chickens. We demonstrated that both apoB and PURH were more highly expressed in the liver than that in other tissues (muscle, ovary, and oviduct) in laying Taiwan Country chickens. Taken together, these data suggest that after the selection for egg production, expression of apoB and PURH genes were also changed. Whether the changed expression of these genes is directly related to egg production is not known, but these two genes may be useful markers for egg laying performance in Taiwan Country chickens.

      • Mapping Surface-Plasmon Polaritons and Cavity Modes in Extraordinary Optical Transmission

        Ding, Y,Yoon, J,Javed, M H,Song, S H,Magnusson, R IEEE 2011 IEEE photonics journal Vol.3 No.3

<P>Transmission of light through periodic metal films with intensity considerably exceeding that predicted by aperture theory is referred to as extraordinary optical transmission (EOT). The mechanisms responsible for this effect have been investigated intensively during the past decade. Here, we show an elegant method of visualizing the operative physical mechanisms for model resonance systems. By numerically mapping the resonance loci, modal and plasmonic mechanisms emerge clearly with delineated regions of dominance. Thus, the photonic transmission resonances are parametrically correlated with localized electromagnetic fields forming pure surface-plasmon polaritons (SPPs), coexisting plasmonic and cavity-mode (CM) states, and pure CMs. This mapping method renders a consistent picture of the transitions between photonic states in terms of key parameters. It shows how the TM1 CM seamlessly morphs into the odd SPP mode as the film thickness diminishes. Similarly, the TM0 mode converts to the even SPP mode. At the intersection of these mode curves, an EOT-free gap forms due to their interaction. On account of a reflection phase shift of a slit-guided mode, an abrupt transition of the resonance loci in the SPP/CM region is observed.</P>

MEACHANISM AND METHOD OF DPF REGENERATION BY OXYGEN RADICAL GENERATED BY NTP TECHNOLOGY

        Y. X. SHI,Y. X. CAI,X. H. LI,Y. Y. CHEN,D. W. DING,W. TANG 한국자동차공학회 2014 International journal of automotive technology Vol.15 No.6

By using a self-designed non-thermal plasma (NTP) injection system, an experimental study of theregeneration of DPF was conducted at different temperatures, where oxygen as the gas source. The results revealed that PMcan be decomposed to generate CO and CO2 by these active substances O3, O which was generated through the dischargereaction of NTP reactor. With the increasing of test temperature, the mass of C1 (C in CO) shows a overall downward trendwhile the mass of C2 (C in CO2) and C12 (C1 and C2) increase firstly and then decrease. When the test temperature is 80oC, thebackpressure of DPF decreases fastest and the regenerative effect is remarkable. DPF can be regenerated by NTP technologywithout any catalyst at a lower temperature. Compared with the traditional regeneration method, the NTP technology has itssuperiority.

Fam83h is Associated with Intracellular Vesicles and ADHCAI

        Ding, Y.,Estrella, M.R.P.,Hu, Y.Y.,Chan, H.L.,Zhang, H.D.,Kim, J.-W.,Simmer, J.P.,Hu, J.C.-C. SAGE Publications 2009 Journal of dental research Vol.88 No.11

<P>Defects in <I>FAM83H</I> on human chromosome 8q24.3 cause autosomal-dominant hypocalcified amelogenesis imperfecta (ADHCAI). <I>FAM83H</I> does not encode a recognizable signal peptide, so we predicted that the Fam83h protein functions within the cell. We tested this hypothesis by constitutively expressing mouse Fam83h with green fluorescent protein (GFP) fused to its C-terminus in HEK293 and HeLa cell lines. Green fluorescent signal from the Fam83h-GFP fusion protein was associated with perinuclear vesicles, usually in the vicinity of the Golgi apparatus. No signal was observed within the nucleus. In addition, we identified <I> FAM83H</I> nonsense mutations in Hispanic (C1330C>T; p.Q444X) and Caucasian (c.1192C>T; p.Q398X) families with ADHCAI. We conclude that Fam83h localizes in the intracellular environment, is associated with vesicles, and plays an important role in dental enamel formation. <I>FAM83H</I> is the first gene involved in the etiology of amelogenesis imperfecta (AI) that does not encode a secreted protein.</P>
