endo-(1,5)-α-L-Arabinanase (AN, EC 3.2.1.99) is an endo-acting hydrolase which can randomly hydrolyze the internal α-(1,5)-L-arabinofuranosidic linkages of arabinan polymers. The arabinan-utilization gene cluster was found from the genome of Streptococcus equinus, and a probable extracellular endo-AN GH43 (SteqAN43B) gene was cloned and heterologously expressed in Escherichia coli. The corresponding open reading frame consists of 2,283 nucleotides encoding 761 amino acids. This enzyme possesses the longer N- and C-terminal domains, compared with common bacterial ANs. Although the debranched (linear) arabinan is the most preferred substrate, SteqAN43B showed the significant hydrolytic activity on sugar beet (branched) arabinan as well. Its modes of action are suitable for the production of various branched arabinooligosaccharides from sugar beet arabinan, and the synergistic hydrolysis of arabinans in combination with the other exo-AFs.

From the genome of Lactobacillus shenzhenensis, the probable genes encoding five α -L-arabinofuranosidases (AF, EC3.2.1.55) and an β-L-arabinopyranosidase (AP, EC3.2.1.88) were found and cloned in Escherichia coli. Except LbshAF-B1, five genes were functionally expressed and characterized in this study. The comparative studies on the hydrolytic modes of action revealed that these exo-hydrolases can play the important roles in the enzymatic saccharification of arabinan polymers into L-arabinose. LbshAF-A GH51 could hydrolyze both α-(1,5)- and α-(1,2)/(1,3)-linkages in arabinan. LbshAF-B2 GH51 showed only α-(1,2)/(1,3)-specific debranching activity to generate linear products, whereas LbshAF-C1 and C2 GH43 could exclusively hydrolyze α-(1,5)-linked arabinan backbone. LbshAP showed the activity against p-nitrophenyl arabinopyranoside. It was proposed that the synergistic actions of these exo-hydrolases can facilitate the complete degradation of sugar beet arabinan to L-arabinose.

Two genes encoding probable α-L-arabinofuranosidase (E.C. 3.2.1.55) isozymes (ABFs) with 92.3% amino acid sequence identity, ABF51A and ABF51B, were found from chromosomes 3 and 5 of Saccharomycopsis fibuligera KJJ81, an amylolytic yeast isolated from Korean wheat-based nuruk, respectively. Each open reading frame consists of 1,551 nucleotides and encodes a protein of 517 amino acids with the molecular mass of approximately 59 kDa. These isozymes share approximately 49% amino acid sequence identity with eukaryotic ABFs from filamentous fungi. The corresponding genes were cloned, functionally expressed, and purified from Escherichia coli. SfABF51A and SfABF51B showed the highest activities on p-nitrophenyl arabinofuranoside at 40~45oC and pH 7.0 in sodium phosphate buffer and at 50oC and pH 6.0 in sodium acetate buffer, respectively. These exoacting enzymes belonging to the glycoside hydrolase (GH) family 51 could hydrolyze arabinoxylooligosaccharides (AXOS) and arabino-oligosaccharides (AOS) to produce only L-arabinose, whereas they could hardly degrade any polymeric substrates including arabinans and arabinoxylans. The detailed product analyses revealed that both SfABF51 isozymes can catalyze the versatile hydrolysis of α-(1,2)- and α-(1,3)-L-arabinofuranosidic linkages of AXOS, and α-(1,2)-, α-(1,3)-, and α-(1,5)- linkages of linear and branched AOS. On the contrary, they have much lower activity against the α- (1,2)- and α-(1,3)-double-substituted substrates than the single-substituted ones. These hydrolases could potentially play important roles in the degradation and utilization of hemicellulosic biomass by S. fibuligera.
Reliability evaluation study of sleep sensor

The purpose of this study is to verify the sensor accuracy according to the sleep environment. We compared and analyzed the accuracy of the present sleep sensors through a polysomnography (PSG) instrument. Research to measure the accuracy of currently developed sleep sensors is important. This is because it is important to judge whether the sensor is used or the accuracy of the industrialization of the sensor as the sleep industry develops. We collected the total of four sensors, obtained the output value from each sensor, and analyzed the variables through sleep polygraph. We recruited a total of 10 subjects and requested an 8 - hour night sleep. By analyzing the measured data, we were able to understand the accuracy of the currently developed sleep sensor.

The door module means that various components such as window regulator, door latch, speaker, etc. mounted on the door of the automobile are assembled in the door module panel. In the automobile industry as well as in the domestic market, automobile weight has recently been reduced, and new materials are being applied to reduce the weight of automobiles. On average, the door module weighs approximately 1400 grams. However, in the automobile industry, the entry of 1,200 grams is required to increase fuel efficiency. However, such weight reduction is expected to cause problems such as the occurrence of joints between parts due to the weight reduction and the deterioration of the speaker sound quality in the door module when viewed from the viewpoint of the sensitivity quality of the driver. As a result, we have conducted research to measure the satisfaction of emotional quality according to the weight reduction of the door module. In this study, emotion evaluation, speaker sound pressure, and operating noise were performed during door module operation in order to evaluate emotional satisfaction with light weight. We use emotional standardization index for evaluation. The target material is a door module before and after lightening, and the manufacturer is a light source machine. For emotional evaluation, EEG, heart rate, and subjective satisfaction were measured for objective evaluation. As a result of subjective satisfaction, it was broken the hypothesis that the emotional quality would be deteriorated due to the lengthening of the light weight, and the sensibility quality did not deteriorate even when the door module was operated (GLASS DOWN, UP). Analysis of Electrocardiogram Signals in Insomnia Persons using Vagus Nerve Stimulation

In today’s world, the stress level keeps increases and sleep quality reduces which may cause insomnia. The major causes of insomnia are due to stress, mental health disorders, work schedule, etc. The aim of this study is to measure the stress level by electrocardiogram (ECG) signals using AMO+ Vagus Nerve Stimulation (VNS) device. This study compares the ECG signals of insomnia persons and normal persons before and after the use of the VNS device. The data acquisition and feature extraction made using Biopac Acknowledge 4.2 software. The t-test statistical method is used for analysis. The significant change occurs in the high frequency (HF) ratio after the use of VNS device. Although no significant changes in heart rate (HR).
A Study on Development of Anti-Gravity Mode Car Seat

As emotion and sensibility field is emerging, automotive technology is also being adopted. Emotion and sensibility is a complex emotion based on multiple interdisciplinary, the role and scope of sensitivity technology is gradually spreading not only as human psychological factors but also ergonomic factors become important. It has no exception in the automobile industry. Among them, as automotive seat is the part in direct contact with the human beings, that is the greatest effecting factor on sensibility technology and ride comfort of the passengers. Therefore, it needs to reflect the ergonomic design, likewise, it should be a fusion of techniques to improve comfort as well as to make feeling less fatigue for long distance travel. In this research, we developed an anti-gravity mode seat focusing on passenger comfort. Then, the comfort in the anti-gravity mode was qualitatively and quantitatively evaluated. Subjective satisfaction was carried out as qualitative evaluation, physiological data (body pressure analysis, EEG, ECG, skin temperature) as qualitative evaluation was measured. As a result, the subjective satisfaction level was improved in the anti gravity mode, the body pressure was evenly dispersed, and the comfort level of EEG and ECG was improved. Therefore, these results presented a new paradigm of the comfort mode of the car seat.
