We used the chemical mutagen, N-ethyl-N-nitrosourea, to induce random mutations in the germline of the mouse strain BALB/c and to develop the disease animal model for human. Male BALB/c was injected 200 ㎎/㎏ㆍENU. After intercross and backcross using treated male, we discovered the mouse with abnormal phenotypes of rough and waved hair at the third generation. It could be distinguished from normal mouse at the beginning of hair growth. In the skin lesion at 17 days old, it has elongated and narrow hair follicle, decrement of lipid layer, and mildly hyperplastic epidermis. The mutant mouse is viable. In the backcross of homozygote & heterozygote, 50% mutants occur, and in the intercross of heterozygote and heterozygot, 29% mutants are generated. Therefore, it supposes that mutation gene transfer to the next generation by autosomal recessive inheritance.
