This paper describes the tumble flow measurements inside the cylinder of a 4-valve S.I. engine using laser Doppler velocimetry(LDV) under motoring(non-conditions. This is conducted on an optically assesed single<br/> <br/> cylinder research engine under motored conditions at an engine speed 0 1000 rpm. Three different cylinder head intake port configurations are studied to develope a better understanding of the tumble flow generation, development, and breakdown mechanisms.<br/>

By utilizing CNG(compressed natural gas) as the alternative fuel to a diesel engine, it is certainly possible to reduce the particulates, soot and NOx from diesel emissions.<br/> CNG-diesel dual fuel engine is more effective and adquate to decrease the vehicle emission specially in heavy urban traffic, because it has several merits in the view points of easy conversion, fuel economy, abundant energy source, and convenient driving at the area where fuel refilling system is deficient.<br/> In this study, we have developed 2 kinds of dual fuel supply system for natural gas and diesel, as mechanical mixer type and semi electronic type. The performance evaluation and characteristics have been compared each other.<br/>

High speed machining is the core technology that influences the performance of machine tools, and the high speed motor spindle is widely used for the high speed machine tools recently. The important problem in this spindle is to reduce and minimize the thermal effect by motor and bearing. In this study, the analysis of thermal characteristic of spindle is performed according to the cooling methods of housing by using finite element method. This result can be applied to the design and manufacture of the high speed spindle.

Spinning process is a chipless metal forming method for axis-symmetric parts, which is more economical, efficient and versatile method for producing parts than other sheet metal forming process such as stamping or deep drawing. The large-sized spindle for spinning machine is the equipment to form a high-pressure vessel into the demanded shape. The important problem in the spindle system for spinning machines is to reduce and minimize the thermal effect by motor and bearings. In this study, the effect of heat generation of bearings for the large-sized Spindle is considered. Temperature distribution and thermal displacement of the spindle system for spinning machine can be analyzed by using the finite element method. The numerical results are compared with the measured data. The results show that temperature distribution and thermal displacement can be reasonably estimated by using the finite element method and the three dimensional model.
소형 고속 고주파 모터 내장형 주축의 미세 예압변화에 따른 열특성

High speed machining is the core technology that influences the performance of machine tools, and the high frequency motor spindle is widely used for the high speed machine tools recently. The important problem in the high speed spindles is to reduce and minimize the thermal effect by the motor and ball bearing. In this study, temperature distributions, thermal displacements and stiffness of small sized spindle with variable preload equipment according to slight change of bearing preload are measured for the minimum of thermal effect, and the analyses of thermal characteristic are performed by using finite element method. This results can be applied to the design and manufacture of the high frequency spindle.
