Effects of non-uniform inflow on the spatial and temporal distribution of impeller excitation in axial flow pumps in water tunnels

        Jiansheng Zhang,Linlin Cao,Jian Cui,Haikui Ren,Yun Wang,Dazhuan Wu 대한기계학회 2023 JOURNAL OF MECHANICAL SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY Vol.37 No.10

The effect of non-uniform inflow on the spatial and temporal distribution of impeller excitation is investigated. The experiments are first conducted to verify the hydraulic performance of the axial flow pump and to provide a reference for the accuracy of the numerical simulations. Subsequently, the effect of non-uniform inflow on the spatial and temporal distribution of the flow field and impeller load is investigated. The results indicate that the non-uniform inflow modifies the velocity distribution at the impeller inlet, resulting in alterations in the attack angle and subsequently affecting the radial and circumferential distribution of the impeller load. The extreme difference in the head between the different blades can reach up to 36 % of the total head. Furthermore, velocity pulsation and attack pulsation exhibit more pronounced fluctuations in the low-speed region, and there exists a strong correlation between the amplitude of unsteady forces and the magnitude of the impeller load.

The Interlaminar Mechanical and Impact Properties of Fibre Metal Laminates Reinforced with Graphene

        Fanglin Cong,Shuo Wang,Linlin,Meng Cao,Zehui Jia,Zhiqiang Zhou,Xu Cui 한국섬유공학회 2022 Fibers and polymers Vol.23 No.5

Glass fibre aluminium laminate (Glare) is widely used in various fields because of its excellent performance. However, its properties can be further enhanced by adding nanofillers, such as graphene, to the matrix. Graphene is a costeffectivetoughening agent because of its excellent specific strength, economy and good compatibility. The interlaminarmechanical and dynamic impact properties of Glare were improved by uniformly dispersed graphene (0, 0.2, 0.3, 0.5 and1.0 wt%). The interlaminar mechanical properties (short beam shear and single lap test) of the graphene-modified (0.5 wt%)Glare were increased by 42.24 % and 25.65 %, respectively, compared with the pure epoxy resin matrix. At a graphenecontent of 1.0 wt%, the Charpy impact energy and strength increased by 163.58 % and 126.33 %, respectively, and reachedthe maximum value. The microscopic images and schematic diagrams illustrated the toughening mechanism of graphene, including the enhancement of the aluminium/resin and fibre/resin interfaces and the performance of the resin matrix. Thetoughening of the resin matrix was achieved through the formation of a mechanical linkage between the graphene and thematrix, which indicated that more time and energy would be required to destroy it.

Granulation of Activated Sludge in a Continuous Flow Airlift Reactor by Strong Drag Force

        Dandan Zhou,Mengyuan Liu,Jun Wang,Shuangshi Dong,Ning Cui,Linlin Gao 한국생물공학회 2013 Biotechnology and Bioprocess Engineering Vol.18 No.2

Most aerobic granule cultivation has been based on the sequencing batch reactor (SBR) and then the factors that affect aerobic granulations were developed in the SBR. However, little work has been done to cultivate aerobic granules in a continuous-flow bioreactor with simple structure that is realistic for engineering. This work is the first to cultivate aerobic granules in a continuous flow airlift fluidized bed reactor (CAFB) possesses a very simple structure and without settling time and starvation time controlling. The configuration of CAFB was the simplest continuous-flow aerobic granular bioreactor reported by now. The majority of granules could be formatted in the CAFB after 12 days cultivation. The effluent COD concentration maintained at 50 ± 10 mg/L for the variable COD loading rate of 3.5 g COD/L/d and 4.8 g COD/L/d, which confirmed that the CAFB performed good anti-shock abilities. CAFB performed good nitrification ability, however, little denitrification was found under the operating conditions of this study. The shear stress acting on the solid phase were hundreds of times stronger in the CAFB than in the SBR at the same aeration strength. It seems CAFB is very efficient for granulation due to the strong shear-force exertion, which is promising for continuous-flow aerobic granular bioreactor. Protein, positive to the hydrophobicity, was predominant in extracellular polymeric substances in the granules, and favored the granules formation in the CAFB combined with the polysaccharides. However, filamentous bulking always happened in 35 days operation of the CAFB, thus further study on the stability of this bioreactor is urgently necessary.

Ginsenosides as dietary supplements with immunomodulatory effects: a review

        Tang Ping,Liu Sitong,Zhang Junshun,Ai Zhiyi,Hu Yue,Cui Linlin,Zou Hongyang,Li Xia,Wang Yu,Nan Bo,Wang Yuhua 한국응용생명화학회 2024 Applied Biological Chemistry (Appl Biol Chem) Vol.67 No.-

Immune disorders have become one of the public health problems and imposes a serious economic and social burden worldwide. Ginsenosides, the main active constituents of ginseng, are regarded as a novel supplementary strategy for preventing and improving immune disorders and related diseases. This review summarized the recent research progress of ginsenosides in immunomodulation and proposed future directions to promote the development and application of ginsenosides. After critically reviewing the immunomodulatory potential of ginsenosides both in vitro and in vivo and even in clinical data of humans, we provided a perspective that ginsenosides regulated the immune system through activation of immune cells, cytokines, and signaling pathways such as MAPK, PI3K/ Akt, STAT, and AMPK, as well as positively affected immune organs, gut flora structure, and systemic inflammatory responses. However, the evidence for the safety and efficacy of ginsenosides is insufficient, and the immune pathways of ginsenosides remain incompletely characterized. We believe that this review will provide a valuable reference for further research on ginsenosides as dietary supplements with immunomodulatory effects.
