Brassica is an essential genus in agriculture, and gene flow from living modified (LM) organisms to native relatives or non-modified cultivars of the crucifer family is a critical issue in Asia. Loop-mediated isothermal amplification (LAMP) is a simple, rapid, and accurate method for identifying LM crops. This study aimed to develop a LAMP assay for the laboratory diagnosis and field analysis of three novel LM canola events: T45, 73496, and MON88302. The genomic DNA of each LM canola was amplified by incubating at 63 °C for 30 min with a newly developed 2 × LAMP premix containing Bst DNA polymerase and event-specific primer sets. The sensitivity of the LAMP assay for the three canola events in our condition ranged from 100 pg·μL−1 to 1 ng·μL−1. Genetic elements of the three LM events were identified through a combination of the LAMP assay, a syringe-type DNA extraction kit, and a portable isothermal amplifier. This study proposes a novel, simple system based on isothermal amplification for the DNA detection of the three LM canola events in a survey field.

Methods for detecting the presence of genetically modified (GM) crops are evolving to comply with legislation and to enhance monitoring by biotechnology companies and regulators. In order to cover a broad range of detection methods for a new GM crop, conventional multiplex PCR methods are required. Based on the genetic information on three GM alfalfa varieties (J101, J163, and KK179), which were recently approved in South Korea, we developed a fast, reliable, and highly specific multiplex polymerase chain reaction (PCR) method with basic PCR equipment and inexpensive reagents. To validate and verify the newly developed multiplex PCR method, we applied a limit of detection assay and random reference material analysis. We also monitored the unintentional environmental release of GM alfalfa in South Korea by performing the multiplex PCR analysis with 91 feral alfalfa specimens collected from 2000 to 2018. Our methodology is a sensitive, simple, quick, and inexpensive tool for detecting and identifying three GM alfalfa varieties.

본 논문에서는 트랜젝션 기반의 정형/비정형/XML 데이터 관리 및 검색 기능을 갖춘 정보 관리 시스템 KRISTAL-2002를 대상으로 하여, JAVA를 구현언어로 사용하는 개발자가 해당 시스템의 기능을 원활하게 사용할 수 있도록 하기 위한 KRISTAL-2002 사용자 프로토콜 및 JAVA 기반의 API 설계를 목표로 한다. KRISTAL-2002 프로토콜은 TCP/IP 기반 XML 메시징 프로토콜에 기반을 둔 것으로서, 클라이언트와 서버 모두에서 처리 효율을 높일 수 있다. 이러한 프로토콜을 기반으로 3개 그룹에 걸쳐 총 24 개의 KRISTAL-2002 JAVA API를 설계/구현하였다.
잔티젠(Xanthigen)에 의한 고지방식이로 유도된 비만 개선 효과

비만은 대사성 질환의 주요 위험 인자이다. 최근, 천연물질들의 비만 개선효과에 관심이 집중되고 있다. 잔티젠은 체중감소와 지질 대사 개선 효과가 있는 것으로 알려진 미역에서 유래한 fucoxanthin과 석류씨 오일에서 유래한 punicic acid로 구성된 복합 추출물이다. 본 연구에서, 우리는 C57BL/6N 마우스를 이용하여 잔티젠이 고지방식이로 유도된 비만을 개선시킬 수 있는지 조사하였다. 마우스는 각각 정상식이 대조군, 고지방식이 대조군, 고지방식이 + 1% 잔티젠군, 고지방식이 + 1% 녹차 추출물 양성대조군으로 나누어 11주간 사육하였다. 잔티젠 투여군은 고지방식이군과 비교하여 식이효율과 체중이 유의적으로 감소하였다. 체중 변화와 유사하게, 잔티젠은 복부부고환 지방조직과 후복막 지방조직 및 간의 무게를 고지방식이군 대비 뚜렷하게 감소시켰고, 혈청 LDL-콜레스테롤 함량 또한 유의적으로 감소시켰다. 이러한 결과들은 잔티젠의 탁월한 항비만 효과를 갖는 건강기능식품 소재로서의 개발 가능성을 제시한다. Obesity is a risk factor for numerous metabolic diseases. Recently, naturally occurring compounds that may improve obesity have received increasing attention. Xanthigen is a mixture of fucoxanthin and punicic acid derived from brown seaweed and pomegranate seed, respectively, which have been traditionally used for lipid-lowering effects in humans. In this study, we investigated whether Xanthigen attenuates high-fat diet-induced obesity in C57BL/6N mice. The mice were fed on a normal diet (ND), high-fat diet (HFD), HFD plus 1% Xanthigen or HFD plus 1% green tea extract (GTE) for 11 weeks. Food efficiency ratio (FER) and body weight were significantly reduced in mice fed HFD plus Xanthigen compared to HFD-fed mice. Consistent with the results in body weight change, Xanthigen also significantly decreased the weights of epididymal adipose tissue, retroperitoneal adipose tissue, and liver in HFD plus 1% Xanthigen-fed mice. The serum level of low-density ipoprotein (LDL)-cholesterol was significantly decreased in HFD plus Xanthigen-fed mice compared to HFD-fed mice. These results suggest that Xanthigen may be useful in the development of a functional health food for anti-obesity.

In manu cases, however subsequent terms of the series expansion are quantitatively significant, and so we now consider the evaluation of such terms and their effect on the predicted crack growth direction.
