The key for the commercial deployment of IGCC power plants or chemical (methanol, dimethyl ether, etc.) production plants based on coal gasification is their economic advantage over plants producing electricity or chemicals from crude oil or natural gas. The better economy of coal gasification based plants can be obtained by co-production of electricity and chemicals. In this study, we carried out the economic feasibility analysis on the process of co-producing electricity and DME (dimethyl ether) using coal gasification. The plant’s capacity was 250 MW electric and DME production of 300,000 ton per year. Assuming that the sales price of DME is 500,000 won/ton, the production cost of electricity is in the range of 33~58% of 150.69 won/kwh which is the average of SMP (system marginal price) in 2013, Korea. At present, the sales price of DME in China is approximately 900,000 won/ton. Therefore, there are more potential for lowering the price of co-produced electricity when comparing that from IGCC only. Since the co-production system can not only use the coal gasifier and the gas purification process as a common facility but also can control production rates of electricity and DME depending on the market demand, the production cost of electricity and DME can be significantly reduced compared to the process of producing electricity or DME separately.

A study on the standard of nursing practices. In order for new nurses to increase rapid adaptation and realistic nursing practice abilities in a new clinical setting, it is essential that there be a congruence with contents and methods of nursing practice education between the nursing education agency and clinical nursing practice managers. Therefore, a research on standard nursing practice for new nurses was conducted in order to induce common understanding about nursing practice between instructors of nursing college and head nurses of hospital, before opening 500∼700 bed sized hospital which used clinical practice setting for this nursing college and main working field after graduation. To achieve the above research purposes, nursing practice education materials for new nurses of two affiliated hospitals and four 500∼700 bed sized hospitals were collected. And then the contents of 6 materials were categorized according to theme, afterwards new contents of education materials were selected through discussions among the 5 researchers. Ultimately, the standard of nursing practices for new nurses was developed in hospital with 500∼700 beds.
IEEE 802.11a 기저대역 프로세서의 설계 및 구현

본 논문에서는 IEEE 802.11a 표준안에 적합한 기저대역 프로세서를 설계하였다. 프로세서의 크기 감소 및 성능 향상을 위해 새로운 알고리즘이 적용되었다. 구현된 IEEE 802.11a baseband processor는 기존의 OFDM 방식 모뎀의 성능향상을 위해 고속의 IFFT/FFT를 이용하고, 다중경로 채널과 페이딩에 강한 새로운 채널 보상기법과 등화기, tan^(-l) 기법을 이용한 동기회로 그리고 에러 예측 회로를 사용한 비터비 디코더등 개선된 알고리즘을 이용하여 성능향상을 도모하였다 설계된 기저대역 프로세서의 구현 및 검증을 위해 SoC플랫폼을 이용하였다. 플랫폼 기반의 IEEE 802.11a WLAN을 설계하기 위한 환경은 기저대역 프로세서 칩을 테스트하기 위한 테스트 보드와 MAC을 이행할 SoC 플랫폼으로 구성되어 있다. 설계된 IEEE 802.11a baseband processor는 AWGN, 다중 경로 페이딩 채널에서 데이터 전송을 확인하였다.
고속의 실시간 MPEG-2/H.264 transcoding 구조 제안

H.264 비디오 코딩 표준은 기존 비디오 코딩 표준에 비해 뛰어난 압축부호화 효율로 인해 차세대 비디오 표준으로 각광받고 있으며 H.264가 가진 잠재적인 영향력 때문에 오늘날 디지털 비디오 시스템의 주를 이루고 있는 MPEG-2 시스템을 대체할 것으로 보여진다. 현재 MPEG-2 시스템이 광범위하게 자리 잡고 있기 때문에 H.264 시스템으로의 완전한 이동은 다소 시간이 걸릴 것으로 예상되고, 따라서 트랜스코딩 기술이 중요하게 대두되고 있다. 트렌스코더는 디코더와 인코더를 포함한 구조이기 때문에 매우 많은 연산량이 요구되며 그 복잡도를 줄이는 것이 중요하다. 본 논문에서는 디코딩 과정에서 추출된 정보를 인코딩 과정에 재사용함으로써 복잡도를 줄이도록 하였고, 또한 H.264에서 연산량이 많은 부분들을 여러 가지 알고리즘을 통해 복잡도를 줄임으로써 보다 빠른 속도로 동작이 가능한 트랜스코더 구조를 제안하였다.
Extended latex proteome analysis deciphers additional roles of the lettuce laticifer

Lettuce is an economically important leafy vegetable that accumulates a milk-like sap called latex in the laticifer. Previously, we conducted a large-scale lettuce latex proteomic analysis. However, the identified proteins were obtained only from lettuce ESTs and proteins deposited in NCBI databases. To extend the number of known latex proteins, we carried out an analysis identifying 302 additional proteins that were matched to the NCBI non-redundant protein database. Interestingly, the newly identified proteins were not recovered from lettuce EST and protein databases, indicating the usefulness of this hetero system in MudPIT analysis. Gene ontology studies revealed that the newly identified latex proteins are involved in many processes, including many metabolic pathways, binding functions, stress responses, developmental processes, protein metabolism, transport and signal transduction. Application of the non-redundant plant protein database led to the identification of an increased number of latex proteins. These newly identified latex proteins provide a rich source of information for laticifer research.

<P>The cell wall and extracellular matrix in higher plants include secreted proteins that play critical roles in a wide range of cellular processes, such as structural integrity and biogenesis. Compared with the intensive cell wall proteomic studies in <I>Arabidopsis</I>, the list of cell wall proteins identified in monocot species is lacking. Therefore, we conducted a large-scale proteomic analysis of secreted proteins from rice. Highly purified secreted rice proteins were obtained from the medium of a suspension of callus culture and were analyzed with multidimensional protein identification technology (MudPIT). As a result, we could detect a total of 555 rice proteins by MudPIT analysis. Based on bioinformatic analyses, 27.7% (154 proteins) of the identified proteins are considered to be secreted proteins because they possess a signal peptide for the secretory pathway. Among the 154 identified proteins, 27% were functionally categorized as stress response proteins, followed by metabolic proteins (26%) and factors involved in protein modification (24%). Comparative analysis of cell wall proteins from <I>Arabidopsis </I>and rice revealed that one third of the secreted rice proteins overlapped with those of <I>Arabidopsis</I>. Furthermore, 25 novel rice-specific secreted proteins were found. This work presents the large scale of the rice secretory proteome from culture medium, which contributes to a deeper understanding of the rice secretome.</P>
