RSD (Remote Sensing Device), which is a roadside measuring device, can measure the exhaust emissions from the vehicle to pass the RSD device without any interference. RSD is capable of measuring the CO, HC, NO, CO₂ emissions from on-road vehicle within 1 second. Therefore, it can provide thousands of on-road emissions data in a day. In the present study, RSD was used to measure the exhaust emissions from the gasoline and LPG vehicles on the 27 test sites in Seoul metropolitan areas. Totally 177,849 of effective data were obtained during 104 days, and these data were used to analyze the average CO, HC and NO emissions by vehicle model year, and also to analyze the cumulative distribution by the concentration of exhaust emission for the reference to identify the low and gross emitters.

Compressed natural gas (CNG) is well known as one of the cleanest burning alternative fuels. Bi-fuel CNG vehicle can also run on gasoline or another fuel while dedicated natural gas vehicle is designed to run on natural gas only. Recently, increased attention has been focused on bi-fuel CNG/LPG taxi because of good fuel economy of CNG. A number of LPG taxis modified to CNG Bi-fuel vehicles are running in many cities. In this paper, the emissions characteristics of in-use passenger cars running on CNG and LPG were investigated. Chassis dynamometer test was used to measure exhaust emissions from an in-use fleet of 5 cars. Exhaust emissions were collected for CVS-75 driving mode. The test results showed that for CNG fuel mode, CO, CO₂ and NMHC emissions decreased to 9%, 12% and 14% respectively, and CH₄ and NOx emissions increased to 317% and 47% respectively.

Chassis dynamometer testing in connection with high-resolution FTIR spectroscopy was used to measure the non-regulated emissions such as methane(CH₄), nitrous oxide(N₂O) and ammonia(NH₃) as well as the regulated emissions such as carbon monoxide(CO), total hydrocarbon(THC) and nitrogen oxides(NOx). A LPLi type passenger car and a LPGi type passenger car were used. As C3 content of LPG fuel increases, CO and THC emissions were decreased but NOx was increased in LPLi passenger car. In a LPGi type passenger car, however, the opposite trend was observed in exhaust emissions.

Bio diesel is one of the clean alternative fuels, and is known to produce less air pollutants than petroleum-based diesel. Bio diesel blended with petroleum diesel can be used. In this paper, exhaust emissions were investigated at various bio diesel mixing rations. Chassis dynamometer testing in connection with high-resolution FTIR spectroscopy was used to measure exhaust emissions including formaldehyde(HCHO) and greenhouse gases such as nitrous oxide(N₂O) and methane(CH₄). Exhaust emissions were collected for CVS-75 driving mode. The results showed that THC and PM decreased but CO, NOx, CH₄, N₂O and HCHO increased gradually, as the mixing ratio increases.
