        Association between Retinal Vascular Geometric Changes and Cognitive Impairment: A Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis

        Background and Purpose Previous studies have explored the association between retinal vascular changes and cognitive impairment. The retinal vasculature shares some characteristics with the cerebral vasculature, and quantitative changes in it could indicate cognitive impairment. Hence, a comprehensive meta-analysis was performed to clarify the potential relationship between retinal vascular geometric changes and cognitive impairment. Methods Relevant databases were scrupulously and systematically searched for retinal vascular geometric changes including caliber, tortuosity, and fractal dimension (FD), and for cognitive impairment. The Newcastle-Ottawa Scale was used to evaluate the methodological quality of included studies. RevMan was used to perform the meta-analysis and detect publication bias. Sensitivity analyses were also performed. Results Five studies that involved 2,343 subjects were finally included in the meta-analysis. The results showed that there was no significant association between central retinal artery equivalents (Z=1.17) or central retinal venular equivalents (Z=1.74) and cognitive impairment (both p>0.05). Similarly, no significant difference was detected in retinal arteriolar tortuosity (Z=0.91) and venular tortuosity (Z=1.31) (both p>0.05). However, the retinal arteriolar FD (mean difference: -0.03, 95% CI: -0.05, -0.01) and venular FD (mean difference: -0.03, 95% CI: -0.05, -0.02) were associated with cognitive impairment. Conclusions A smaller retinal microvascular FD might be associated with cognitive impairment. Further large-sample and well-controlled original studies are required to confirm the present findings.

      • Entrepreneurial leadership and innovativeness:The mediating role of team psychological safety

        기업 환경이 보다 역동적으로 변화하고 경쟁이 심화됨에 따라 기업은 경쟁력을 갖추기 위해서 혁신성을 필요로 하고 있다. 기존의 연구에서 기업의 혁신성에 영향을 크게 미치는 요소들에 대해서 연구하였는데, 그 중의 중요한 요소 중 하나가 바로 리더십이다. 기업이 보다 창의적이고 혁신적이기 위해서는 기업 내의 팀 리더의 역할이 무엇보다 중요한데, 필요한 자원을 동원할 수 있고, 팀원들이 그들의 일에 몰입하게끔 할 수 있는 비 전을 제시할 수 있는 기업가적 리더를 필요로 한다. 최근에 다른 리더십 형태와는 차별 된 기업가적 리더십에 대한 관심이 많아졌다. 21세기의 경제와 기업의 발전의 역동성을 고려해볼 때, 기업가적 리더십을 연구하는 것은 중요하다. 기업가적 리더십 분야는 아직 개념과 이론적인 측면에서 초기단계에 있고, 계속 발전해 나가고 있다. 기업가적 리더십 이 혁신성에 도움을 준다고 보지만, 이 부분에 관하여 실증적 연구가 많이 되어있지 않 다. 따라서 본 논문에서는 기업가적 리더십과 혁신성의 연결고리를 연구하였고, 구체적으로 팀 심리적 안전이 기업가적 리더십과 혁신성을 매개하는 지를 검증하였다. 기존 문헌 연구를 토대로 가설과 연구모형을 설정하였고, 네덜란드의 여러 기업에서 54개 팀 (팀장 54명, 팀원257명)을 대상으로 설문조사 및 검증을 실시하였다. PLS 구조방정식 모형 (Partial least square structural equation modeling)을 활용하여 가설을 검증하였고, 분석 결과, 팀 심리적 안전이 기업가적 리더십과 팀 혁신성 사이의 관계를 매개하는 것으로 나타났다. 본 연구는 기존의 리더십 형태와 다른 기업가적 리더십이 어떻게 팀의 혁신성에 영향을 미치는 지를 고찰함으로서 리더십 분야에 기여하였다. 또한 이 연구를 통해서 기업가적 리더십이 어떠한 과정을 통해서 혁신성을 촉진시키는지를 살펴보았다. 본 논문 에서 향후 연구에 대한 방향과 결과에 대한 시사점을 제시하였다. In today’s dynamic and competitive environment organizations must innovate in order to survive. Researchers have identified a wide range of factors that affect innovativeness. Leadership is widely regarded as one of the most important of these factors. To be innovative, organizations may need entrepreneurial leaders who can mobilize the necessary resources and create the kind of visionary scenarios which commit followers to their work. Recently researchers have paid more attention to entrepreneurial leadership as a distinct form of leadership. Entrepreneurial leadership is regarded as a critical factor in the dynamics of economic development in the 21 st century and evolving style of leadership that might offer a signifiant break from the past. The field of entrepreneurial leadership is still in the early stages of conceptual and theoretical development. Despite the plausibility of expecting that entrepreneurial leadership would enhance innovativeness, little empirical research has been undertaken into the existence and nature of this link. This study investigated the mediating effect of team psychological safety on the relationship between entrepreneurial leadership and innovativeness. We developed a model to explain this relationship and tested it using data covering 54 supervisors and 257 subordinates from a range of organizations. The results of partial least square structural equation modeling analysis (PLS-SEM) showed that team psychological safety mediates the relationship between entrepreneurial leadership and team innovativeness. The current study contributes to the leadership literature by investigating the role of a new style of leadership which is the entrepreneurial leadership in fostering innovation in organizations. Also this study helps us understand the underlying mechanism through which entrepreneurial leadership promotes innovativeness. We discussed the implications of the findings and identify possible directions for future research.

        Sequencing and Characterization of Divergent Marbling Levels in the Beef Cattle (Longissimus dorsi Muscle) Transcriptome

        Marbling is an important trait regarding the quality of beef. Analysis of beef cattle transcriptome and its expression profile data are essential to extend the genetic information resources and would support further studies on beef cattle. RNA sequencing was performed in beef cattle using the Illumina High-Seq2000 platform. Approximately 251.58 million clean reads were generated from a high marbling (H) group and low marbling (L) group. Approximately 80.12% of the 19,994 bovine genes (protein coding) were detected in all samples, and 749 genes exhibited differential expression between the H and L groups based on fold change (>1.5-fold, p<0.05). Multiple gene ontology terms and biological pathways were found significantly enriched among the differentially expressed genes. The transcriptome data will facilitate future functional studies on marbling formation in beef cattle and may be applied to improve breeding programs for cattle and closely related mammals.
