A False Positive 18F-FDG PET/CT Scan Caused by Breast Silicone Injection

        Chao-Jung Chen,Bi-Fang Lee,Wei-Jen Yao,Pei-Shan Wu,Wen-Chung Chen,Shu-Lin Peng,Nan-Tsing Chiu 대한영상의학회 2009 Korean Journal of Radiology Vol.10 No.2

We present here the case of a 40-year-old woman with a greater than 10 year prior history of bilateral breast silicone injection and saline bag implantation. Bilateral palpable breast nodules were observed, but the ultrasound scan was suboptimal and the magnetic resonance imaging showed no gadoliniumenhanced tumor. The 18F-FDG PET/CT scan showed a hypermetabolic nodule in the left breast with a 30% increase of 18F-FDG uptake on the delayed imaging, and this mimicked breast cancer. She underwent a left partial mastectomy and the pathology demonstrated a siliconoma.

      • Analysis of Indoleamine 2-3 Dioxygenase (IDO) and EGFR Co-expression in Breast Cancer Tissue by Immunohistochemistry

        Bi, Wei-Wei,Zhang, Wei-Hua,Yin, Gui-Hua,Luo, Hong,Wang, Shou-Qin,Wang, Hongran,Li, Chao,Yan, Wei-Qun,Nie, De-Zhi Asian Pacific Journal of Cancer Prevention 2014 Asian Pacific journal of cancer prevention Vol.15 No.14

Background: To determine the amount of co-expression of IDO and EGFR in breast cancer patients. Materials and Methods:In order to obtain the distribution of co-expression of IDO and EGFR in breast cancer, we tested 110 breast cancer paraffin tissue blocks with immunohistochemical methods. Then we investigated the relationship between the diagnostic and pathologic characteristics (tumor size, lymph node status, histologic grade, the gene expression of ER, PR, HER2, p53, Ki67 and PCNA) with the situation of co-expression of IDO and EGFR by reviewing the medical records of 32 breast cancer patients. Results: Among 110 breast cancers, 32 cases demonstrated IDO and EGFR co-expression (29.1%), IDO and EGFR synchronous co-expression being found in 19.1% and asynchronous in 10.0%. Conclusions: IDO and EGFR were co-expressed in breast cancer, including synchronous and asynchronous co-expression. The results suggest that considering IDO and EGFR as two indicators for breast cancer treatment or prognosis analysis provides a potential option of individual treatment for the portion of breast cancer patients with co-expression of IDO and EGFR.

The complete mitochondrial genome of a threatened loach (Sinibotia reevesae) and its phylogeny

        Yuan‑Chao Zou,Bi‑Wen Xie,Chuan‑Jie Qin,Yong‑Ming Wang,Deng‑Yue Yuan,Rui Li,Zheng‑Yong Wen 한국유전학회 2017 Genes & Genomics Vol.39 No.7

In present study, the complete mitochondrial genome of Sinibotia reevesae was first sequenced using the next-generation sequencing technology and annotated using bioinformatic tools. The circular mitochondrial genome was 16,572 bp in length, and contained 13 proteincoding genes, 2 ribosomal RNA genes, 22 transfer RNA genes, and 1 displacement loop locus. It presents a typical gene organization and order for completely sequenced cypriniformes mitogenomes. The control region could be divided into three parts included the extended termination associated sequence domain, the central conserved domain and the conserved sequence block. Interestingly, two stemloop domains were found in control region and OL region, respectively. Furthermore, phylogenetic analyses using concatenated amino acid and nucleotide sequences of the 13 protein-coding genes with two different methods (Maximum likelihood and Bayesian analysis) both highly supported the close relationship of S. reevesae and Sinibotia superciliaris, which was in line with the previous classifications based on morphological and molecular studies. These data provide useful information for a better understanding of the mitogenomic diversities and evolution in fish as well as novel genetic markers for studying population genetics and species identification.

Protective Effect of Astragaloside IV against Matrix Metalloproteinase- 1 Expression in Ultraviolet-Irradiated Human Dermal Fibroblasts

        Bo Yang,Chao Ji,Xiaodong Chen,Lunbiao Cui,Zhigang Bi,Yinsheng Wan,Jinhua Xu 대한약학회 2011 Archives of Pharmacal Research Vol.34 No.9

Ultraviolet (UV) irradiation induces skin photoaging associated with up-regulated matrix metalloproteinase (MMP) expression. Inhibition of MMP expression is suggested to alleviate photoaging induced by UV irradiation. Astragaloside IV (As-IV), one of the main active ingredients of Astragalus membranaceus (Fisch) Bge, has been reported to have various biological activities. However, its anti-photoaging effect has not been examined to date. In the present study, we observed the effect of As-IV on matrix metalloproteinase-1 (MMP-1) expression in UV-irradiated human dermal fibroblasts (HDFs). We found that treatment with As-IV significantly decreased UV-induced MMP-1 expression at the messenger RNA and protein levels. In addition, western blotting analysis revealed that As-IV concentration-dependently suppressed UV-induced phosphorylation of extracellular-regulated protein kinase, Jun-N-terminal kinase and p38 mitogen-activated protein kinase (MAPK). Furthermore, treatment with As-IV markedly inhibited UV-induced nuclear factor kappaB (NF-κB) activity. These results suggest that As-IV down-regulates UV-induced MMP-1 expression, perhaps through suppression of MAPK and NF-κB activation in HDFs. As-IV is thus a potential agent for the management of skin photoaging.

Inclusion Characteristics and Acicular Ferrite Formation in the Simulated Heat-Affected Zone of Ti-Zr-Killed Low-Carbon Steel

        Fangce Liu,Yue Bi,Chao Wang,Jian Kang,Tong He,Yandong Liu,Guo Yuan 대한금속·재료학회 2023 METALS AND MATERIALS International Vol.29 No.3

In this paper, high temperature hot rolling and weld simulations were performed in Al-killed and Ti-Zr-killed steels. Themicrostructure and impact toughness of the heat-affected zone (HAZ) of the two experimental steels were investigated, andthe ferrite transformation behavior in HAZ was also observed. The characteristic inclusions in the Ti-Zr-killed steel werestudied using electron probe microanalysis (EPMA) and electron backscatter diffraction (EBSD). The results suggested thatthe HAZ microstructure of the Al-killed steel consisted of coarse bainite ferrite (BF) and granular bainite (GB) packets. TheHAZ microstructure of Ti-Zr-killed steel was significantly refined and mainly contained fine acicular ferrite (AF) and BF. TheTi-Zr-O + MnS inclusions were 0.3–2.1 μm and could effectively promote the formation of AF after the weld simulations. MnS had a specific orientation relationship: {111}MnS║{0001}Ti-Zr-O, < 110 > MnS║ < 2 −1−1 0 > Ti-Zr-O with Ti-Zr-O inclusion, and its precipitation promoted the formation of the Mn-depleted zone (MDZ). AF formed around it. The formation of aninterlocked AF structure in the HAZ of the Ti-Zr-killed steel obviously increased the proportion of high angle grain boundaries(HAGBs) and refined the average effective grain size of the HAZ microstructure. Consequently, the impact toughnessof the Ti-Zr-killed steel had no deterioration, but the impact toughness of Al-killed steel had an obvious loss after the weldsimulation with a heat input of 70 kJ/cm. The impact absorption energy of HAZ of Ti-Zr-killed steel was improved from 6to 219 J compared to Al-killed steel.

      • The Complex Agent Artificial Social Network based on Sugarscape ─CASugarscape

        Qunxiu Yu,Guihong Bi,Shouming Zhang,Chao Wang 보안공학연구지원센터 2015 International Journal of u- and e- Service, Scienc Vol.8 No.9

We present an artificial social model of complex agent network, CASugarscape, to study the interaction between social network and social wealth. In the space of Sugarscape, agents survive by constantly looking for wealth within their own social circle taking their own field of vision as radius. However, agents survive by looking for wealth within the social network of friends who share wealth each other in the space of CASugarscape. In the proposed CASugarscape model, agents have different social radius based on social circle theory, which form acquaintance networks through social radius and build friendship networks through the rules of matching social wealth. Individual takes advantage of the distribution information of wealth, which comes from friend network, to look for wealth. The change of agents’ wealth distribution will affect their own acquaintance and friendship networks. Eventually it forms the social wealth and social network co-evolution mechanism. We analyze the impacts of different friend networks built through different rules of matching social wealth on social networks and social wealth distribution.

      • Ternary organic solar cells based on two compatible PDI-based acceptors with an enhanced power conversion efficiency

        Weng, Kangkang,Li, Chao,Bi, Pengqing,Ryu, Hwa Sook,Guo, Yikun,Hao, Xiaotao,Zhao, Dahui,Li, Weiwei,Woo, Han Young,Sun, Yanming The Royal Society of Chemistry 2019 Journal of Materials Chemistry A Vol.7 No.8

Ternary solar cells have been proven to be an effective way to increase the power conversion efficiency (PCE) of organic solar cells (OSCs). Up to now, research effort has mostly focused on fullerene derivatives and acceptor-donor-acceptor (A-D-A) type non-fullerene acceptor-based ternary solar cells, while perylene diimide (PDI)-based ternary devices have been rarely studied. In this contribution, we introduced a new type of ternary solar cell based on a PDI-based small-molecule acceptor (PBI-Por) and a polymer donor (PTB7-Th) with a third PDI-based polymer acceptor (PDI-V). The introduction of PDI-V into the ternary blends not only broadens the absorption of blend films but also increases the electron mobilities. As a result, a high efficiency of 9.43% was obtained for the ternary OSC, which is 20% higher than that of the binary OSC. Detailed studies indicate that PDI-V showed good compatibility with PBI-Por in the blend films, which demonstrates a promising way to fabricate high-performance PDI-based OSCs.

Depression and APOEε4 Status in Individuals with Subjective Cognitive Decline: A Meta-Analysis

        Yue-ping Huang,Ju-jun Xue,Chao Li,Xi Chen,Hong-juan Fu,Teng Fei,Peng-xiang Bi 대한신경정신의학회 2020 PSYCHIATRY INVESTIGATION Vol.17 No.9

Objective To evaluate the associative role of depression and apolipoprotein E epsilon 4 allele (APOEε4) in subjective cognitive decline(SCD) and its progression to objective cognitive decline. Methods After literature search in electronic databases, studies were selected by following precise eligibility criteria. Meta-analyses were performed to examine the role of APOEε4 and depression in SCD or its progression to mild cognitive impairment (MCI) or dementia. Results APOEε4 positivity was not different between SCD and normal individuals but was significantly higher in individuals with SCD plus than in normal individuals [odds ratio: 2.39 (95% CI: 1.87, 3.05); p<0.00001] and in SCD converters than in non-converters [odds ratio: 5.19 (95% CI: 2.36, 11.42); p<0.00001]. Depression was significantly higher in individuals with SCD [standardized mean difference: 0.63 (0.45, 0.82); p<0.00001] and SCD plus [standardized mean difference: 0.83 (0.43, 1.22); p<0.0001] than in normal individuals. However, depression was not different between SCD and MCI or between SCD converters and non-converters. Age of SCD converters was higher than non-converters [mean difference: 2.95 years (0.58, 5.31)]. Conclusion Whereas APOEε4 positivity was higher in SCD plus and SCD converters, depression was higher in SCD and SCD plus but was not different between SCD and MCI.

Overexpression of the MYB transcription factor MYB28 or MYB99 confers hypersensitivity to abscisic acid in arabidopsis

        Yong-Tao Yu,Zhenwu Zhu,Kai Lu,Chao Bi,Shan Liang,Xiao-Fang Wang,Da-Peng Zhang 한국식물학회 2016 Journal of Plant Biology Vol.59 No.2

The phytohormone abscisic acid (ABA) plays a vital role in plant development and response to abiotic stress, and many components in ABA signaling remain to be discovered to fully understand the highly complex ABA signaling network. Here we reported that over-expression of MYB28 or MYB99, two R2R3 MYB transcription factors in Arabidopsis thaliana, confers hypersensitivity to exogenous ABA during seed germination, cotyledon greening and early seedling growth. However, both myb28-1 and myb99-1 knockout mutants exhibit wild-type ABA phenotypes most likely due to a functional redundancy of the multiple MYB members. Real-time PCR analysis shows that over-expression of the MYB28 or MYB99 changes expression of a subset of ABA-responsive genes. Collectively, these findings suggest that MYB28 and MYB99 play important, positive roles in ABA signaling during seed germination and early seedling growth.
