The Effect of Coolant Boiling on the Molten Metal Pool Heat Transfer with Local Solidification

This study is concerned with the experimental test and numerical analysis of the heat transfer and solidification of the molten metal pool with overlying coolant with boiling. In the test, the metal pool is heated from the bottom surface and coolant is injected onto the molten metal pool. Experiments were performed by changing the test section bottom surface temperature of the metal layer and the coolant injection rate. The two-phase boiling coolant experimental results are compared against the dry test data without coolant or solidification of the molten metal pool, and against the crust formation experiment with subcooled coolant. Also, a numerical analysis is performed to check on the measured data. The numerical program is developed using the enthalpy method, the finite volume method and the SIMPLER algorithm. The experimental results of the heat transfer show general agreement with the calculated values. The present empirical test and numerical results of the heat transfer on the molten metal pool are apparently higher than those without coolant boiling. This is probably because this experiment was performed in concurrence of solidification in the molten metal pool and the rapid boiling of the coolant. The other experiments were performed without coolant boiling and the correlation was developed for the pure molten metal without phase change.

Objectives : This study was carried out to enhance the activity of Iksuyoungjingo, which has the tonify Qi, nourish Yin effect of oriental medicine, and to study the effect of the prescriptions on the immunological activities. Methods : Immunosuppression was induced by methotrexate (MTX) 2 mg / kg, the experimental group was divided into IYGgami-I, IYGgami-I-F, IYGgami-II and IYGgami-II-F groups. Each prescription was administered with drinking water for 20 days, and body weight was measured every 5 days during this period. Leukocyte, $TNF-{\alpha}$, IL-2, IL-6, IgE, spleen weight and body weight were measured Results : In the changes of $TNF-{\alpha}$, IL-2 and IL-6 as pro-inflammatory elements, all of the experimental groups showed a significant increase compared to the control group. In the IgE changes, the IYGgami-I-F, IYGgami-II and IYGgami-II-F groups showed a significant decrease compared to the control group. In the changes of spleen weight, the IYGgami-II-F group showed a significant increase compared to the control group. In the changes of WBC and lymphocytes, the IYGgami-I-F group showed a significant increase compared to the control group. Conclusions : From the above results, it can be observed that the efficacy against immunity is exerted in all of the preparations, and it was confirmed that the efficacy was maintained constant even when utilizing the Rehmannia glutinosa Residue and Poria cocos Bark, and that a more beneficial effect can be exerted in the effectiveness when the fermentation is carried out.
가축분에 몇가지 석회 화합물 처리에 의한 질소손실 경감과 NH<sub>3</sub> 가스 발생 감소에 미치는 영향

To reduce loss of nitrgen and generation of ammonia gas during composting, poultry manure and sawdust were mixed at the equivalent ratio and calcium chloride, fused superphosphate and vermiculite were added. Ammonia and sulfurous gas during composting, and NH<sub>4</sub>-N and NO<sub>3</sub>-N contents of composts were periodically measured. With the treatments of 0.5~3% calcium chloride and 3% fused superphosphate, ammonia and sulfurous gas during composting significantly decreased, and especially generation of gases sharply reduced and a increase of calcium chlorde. Extractable NH<sub>4</sub>-N content in composts treated with calcium chloride and fused superphosphate were high but extractable NO<sub>3</sub>-N markedly decreased. In conclusion, the results suggest that it is necessary the additon of 1~3% calcium chloride or 3% fused superphosphate to reduce loss of nirogen and generation of offensive odor during composting of poultry manure mixed with sawdust.

Sulfonylurea(SU)-resistant Monochoria korsakowii has resently been found in rice fields in Korea. A quick, practical and accurate test of continuing herbicide resistance is necessary to take timely management decision. This article describes a rapid reliable assay to detect SU-resistant biotype of Monochoria korsakowii. Up to now, the resistance to SU has been usually checked by application seedlings with herbicide. This application technique is time consuming and not practical. Therefore, we have developed efficient, rapid and practical diagnosis which allow easy detection of the SU-resistant Monochoria korsakowii by survival rate and regenerated plant length to herbicide application after cutting plants 0.5~1 ㎝ from the planted surface. This new rapid diagnosis can determine the SU resistance of the Monochoria korsakowii within 7 days at least. If the resistance of Monochoria korsakowii is identified by the rapid diagnosis, the selection of herbicide according to the stages of plants for the effective control is very important. The resistant biotype which treated with SU herbicide-based mixtures survived from the fields could effectively be controlled by soil application of butachlor+pyrazolate GR or by foliar application of the mixtures of bentazone SL and 2,4-D SL.
