Comparative Molecular Field Analysis(CoMFA) of Antitumor Benzo[c] phenanthridine Derivatives
Cho, Won Jea,Yoo, Su Jeong,Park, Myun Ji 전남대학교 약품개발연구소 1996 약품개발연구지 Vol.5 No.1
Comparative molecular field analysis (CoMFA) was applied to a set of antitumor benzo[c]phenanthridines as well as 3-arylisoquinolin-1(2H)-ores. The results indicate a strong correlation between the cytotoxic activity of these compounds against human colon tumor cell (HCT 15) and the electrostatic, steric, and cLogP factors, among which the contribution of electrostatic factor was the test important. CoMFA quantitative structure-activity relationship models exhibited considerable predictive ability.
Power control strategies of a DC-coupled hybrid power system for a building microgrid
Jea-Hoon Cho,Won-Pyo Hong 한국조명·전기설비학회 2011 조명·전기설비학회논문지 Vol.25 No.3
In this paper, a DC-coupled photovoltaic (PV), fuel cell (FC) and ultracapacitor hybrid power system is studied for building microgrid. In this proposed system, the PV system provides electric energy to the electrolyzer to produce hydrogen for future use and transfer to the load side, if possible. Whenever the PV system cannot completely meet load demands, the FC system provides power to meet the remaining load. The main weak point of the FC system is slow dynamics, because the power slope is limited to prevent fuel starvation problems, improve performance and increase lifetime. A power management and control algorithm is proposed for the hybrid power system by taking into account the characteristics of each power source. The main works of this paper are hybridization of alternate energy sources with FC systems using long and short storage strategies to build an autonomous system with pragmatic design, and a dynamic model proposed for a PV/FC/UC bank hybrid power generation system. A simulation model for the hybrid power system has been developed using Matlab/Simulink, SimPowerSystems and Matlab/Stateflow. The system performance under the different scenarios has been verified by carrying out simulation studies using a practical load demand profile, hybrid power management and control, and real weather data.

Considering the environmental concerns, limitation of natural resources and power demand pressure, there is a great need to involve the distributed energy resource (DER) which can be operated as interconnected or as stand-alone mode from the main power grid. This paper proposes an application of Matlab/Stateflow-based MAS for energy management and control in a hybrid energy system including diesel generation system. An overall power management strategy is designed for the proposed system to manage power flows among different energy sources and the storage unit in the system. A simulation model for the hybrid energy system was developed using Matlab/Simulink and SimPowerSystems. The system performance under the different scenarios was verified by carrying out simulation studies using practical load demand profile and real weather data.
Synthesis and Antitumor Activity of 3-Arylisoquinoline Derivatives
Cho, Won Jea,Yoo, Su Jeong,Park, Myun Ji,Chung, Byung Ho,Lee, Chong Ock 전남대학교 약품개발연구소 1997 약품개발연구지 Vol.6 No.1
In order to study the structure-activity relationship of 7,8-dimethoxy-2-methyl-3-(4,5-methylenedioxy-2-vinylphenyl)isoquinoline-1(2H)-one (2), which has exhibited significant antitumor activity, chemical modifications of 2 were performed to yield the corresponding products (3-7). Further systematic uses of an efficient procedure for the synthesis of 3-arylisoquinoline derivatives produced the substituted compounds (9a-9g), which were tested for in vitro antitumor activity against five different human cancer cell lines.

OBJECTIVE
Adhesion formation is one of the most common complications following laminectomy. The efficiency of antiadhesive agents is required to prevent postsurgical adhesion. Therefore, the authors investigated the effects of silk solution against laminectomy-induced dural adhesion formation in a rat model.
METHODS
The authors prepared the silk solution from silkworms. Laminectomies were performed between L3 and L5 in all rats. MediShield was used as a control. The effects of silk solution against laminectomy-induced dural adhesion formation and inflammation were confirmed by histological examination and Western blot analysis.
RESULTS
Laminectomy-induced dural adhesion formation was drastically reduced in silk solution-treated rats (Grade 2) compared to vehicle-treated rats (Grade 3). Dural adhesion formation was significantly reduced in rats that received treatment with silk solution or MediShield, which is a known antiadhesion drug. In addition, combined treatment with silk solution and MediShield showed greater reductions in inflammation compared to the silk solution- or MediShield-treated rats (p > 0.05).
CONCLUSIONS
In this study, the authors demonstrated that silk solution effectively reduced postlaminectomy dural adhesion formation in rats. Although further studies on the long-term effects are necessary to validate these results, silk solution may potentially serve as an antiadhesion agent in neurological procedures.
