Sustainable Supply Chain Management Through Product Preservation and Awareness Program

The effort for carbon emission reduction can be a useful measure of sustainable supply chain management and preservation technology plays an important role in reducing the rate of deterioration. In addition, the industry initiated a customer awareness program, and advertising measures are considered to control the rate of deterioration of products. A mathematical model is proposed to maximize profit by maintaining sustainability. The model is solved with a nonlinear optimization technique using closed-form solutions of the decision variables. Moreover, the model is examined with numerical experiments. Several special cases are discussed to show the maximum profit generated by the proposed model. The numerical experiments show that effort for carbon emission reduction is largely beneficial for supply chain management sustainability. It is also shown that improved preservation strategies can efficiently reduce the deterioration rates of products.
수요의 불확실성과 현금 흐름을 고려한 공급망 관리의 민감도 분석에 관한 연구

Supply chains faces various uncertainties such as demand, manufacturing and supply uncertainties. In this study, we consider both normal demand variation and sudden change in demand as risk factors in a supply chain. Capacity is adjusted by hiring and firing workforce to mitigate the impact of demand uncertainty in consideration of cash flow. A mixed-integer linear programming model is developed and numerical experiments are conducted to investigate the impact of uncertain demand in terms of inventory level, cash flow, debt ratio, and bankruptcy. The results show that safety stock of a focal company has less effect on cash flow of suppliers in the case of normal demand variation. Also, it is observed that the sudden change in demand worsens cash flow and causes bankruptcy and high inventory level in a supply chain. The ratio of production and fixed cost has a significant impact on the performance of a supply chain.

The participation of logistics companies from the beginning assures the efficient design and operations of a joint logistics center. However, logistics firms find it difficult to provide reasonable construction cost estimates because since construction costs vary based on the development duration and unpredictable environments. Therefore, this study examines the construction process of a joint logistics center by considering the indefinite construction costs that may occur and the decision-making of the participating logistics firms under uncertainty. We develop two scenarios to reflect unpredictable environments and propose appropriate solutions using the Uncertain Shapley value. Using data of joint logistics centers by size, we explain the results from thedeterministic and proposed models. The research methodology and findings offer fundamental results for carrying out sustainable cooperative logistics services among recently active logistics companies that want to participate in the construction of jointlogistics centers.
