      • Effect of Ionizing Radiation on Rat Tissue: Proteomic and Biochemical Analysis

        <P>Reactive oxygen species (ROS), generated by ionizing radiation, has been implicated in its effect on living tissues. We confirmed the changes in the oxidative stress markers upon irradiation. We characterized the changes in the proteome profile in rat liver after administering irradiation, and the affected proteins were identified by MALDI-TOF-MS and ESI-MS/MS. The identified proteins represent diverse sets of proteins participating in the cellular metabolism. Our results demonstrated that proteomics analysis is a useful method for characterization of a global proteome change caused by ionizing radiation to unravel the molecular mechanisms involved in the cellular responses to ionizing radiation.</P>

      • Automatic extension of Gene Ontology with flexible identification of candidate terms

        <P><B>Motivation:</B> Gene Ontology (GO) has been manually developed to provide a controlled vocabulary for gene product attributes. It continues to evolve with new concepts that are compiled mostly from existing concepts in a compositional way. If we consider the relatively slow growth rate of GO in the face of the fast accumulation of the biological data, it is much desirable to provide an automatic means for predicting new concepts from the existing ones.</P><P><B>Results:</B> We present a novel method that predicts more detailed concepts by utilizing syntactic relations among the existing concepts. We propose a validation measure for the automatically predicted concepts by matching the concepts to biomedical articles.       • 전남지역 중소기업의 전자상거래 도입 활성화 전략

        Electronic Commerce(EC) has become so important that countries and firms unprepared for this new trend would lose competitive advantages in the coming century of Digital Economy. Despite its importance, current EC markets in Chonnam are immature and there still exist several barriers to EC development. The objective of this paper is to study the status quo of Chonnam EC markets, to investigate barriers to EC, and to provide suggestions to overcome the barriers. The first part of this paper defines EC and Internet Electronic Trade and investigates the present conditions of EC. In Chapter 3, the actual conditions of Internet and EC application of small and medium sized companies in Chonnam province are analyzed in detail Chapter 4 describes technical issues for EC. Chapter 5 describes the business strategies for EC. Finally, barriers to EC are identified in Chapter 6, together with suggestions to overcome these barriers and to enlarge Chonnam EC markets.

      • 電子式 船荷證券 시스템의 課題 : BOLERO 프로젝트를 중심으로 Based Mainly on BOLERO Project

        Recently, BOLERO Project Pilot Test has been practising for the realization of the Electronic Bill of Lading in Europe. This study investigated the Electronic Bill of Lading as a electronic substitute, by analysing the CMI Uniform Rules and the result of BOLERO Poilt Test. BOLERO Project offered safe method by introducing Trusted Third Party and Electronic Signature. However, there are two problems in introducing Electronic Bill of Lading System as followings. First, BOLERO Project is a transaction in the closed group. Therefore, it will be necessary to develop open system which is available for commercial transaction besides club members in the near future. Second, it is a problem how to link EDI of payment and EDI of Bill of lading and other shipping documents. In the near future, it is expected to implement the system containing the function of payment, by comparing the data of the electronic bill of lading and the electronic letter of credit in the documentary transaction.

      • 철근 콘크리트 슬래브 부재 재활용 방안

        Recently, the amount of concrete waste has been increased greatly according to increasing of the re-build and renovation works of old urban buildings. Thus, it is getting regarded as very urgent problem for the sake of recycling resources and decreasing industrial wastes to try to re-use of concrete waste. In these respects, this study has been aimed to establish inclusive re-use technology and management system, and to verify the structural safety and reliability of re-use members such as floor slab, the research has been carried out in case of slab to slab connection which composed by H shaped steel beam and stud shear connectors. For re-using demolished member of reinforced concrete slab, considering the size of members by transportation problem, the maximum length of member is 9.9m and the width is 3.25m.

      • 보건관리 대행사업 이후 작업환경 수준의 변화

        This study was performed to evaluate the threshold limit values(TLVs) exceeding rates and periodical changes based on the results from work environmental measurement for 40 factories applied health service program, located in Cheonnan area, from 1995 to 1997. The obtained results were as follows; 1. The hazaed frequency in environmental monitoring were noise(865, 34.4%), illumination(804, 31.9%), dust(205, 8.1%), organic solvent(371, 14.7%), lead(114, 4.5%), and specific chemicals(31, 1.2%), heavy metal(127, 5.0%) in order. 2. The order of TLVs exceeding rate of hazardous agents by type of industries were cement-related manufacture(42.3%), fiber industry(40.0%), food stuff industry(24.3%), metal work industry(21.8%), electronics manufacture (9.9%), other industries(10.2%), chemical industry(7.9%). 3. The mean exceeding rates of hazard by type of industry were 29.5% in noise, 27.3% in dust, 25.8% in specific chemicals, 10.2% in solvent and 7.9% in lead, but none in heavy metal. 4. The average of standardized values of noise divided by TLV were decreased in food stuff industries and chemical industries, but not changed in fiber and cement-related industries. While, the average of standardized values of organic solvents divided by TLVs were decreased in electronic manufacturing industries and other industries.

        Training is very important for health, physical fitness and prevention of various kinds of disease. Recently, hypokinesis from automation, excessive caloric intake and stresses from personal relations increase and systematic physical exercise are keenly felt. In hypertensive, static or anaerobic exercise are apt to increase blood pressure too much, so moderate or light whole body exercise which intensity can be easily controlled are encouraged. Proper intensity for hypertensive are thought to be within the range of 60% of maximal oxygen consumption (HP 120-135 beats/min). ​

      • ZnIn_2S_4 및 ZnIn_2S_4 : Co^2+ 단결정의 광학적 특성

        ZnIn_2S_4 and ZnIn_2S_4:CO^2+ single crystals crystallized in the rhombohedral (hexagonal) space group C_3v^5(R3m), with lattice constants a=3.859A˚, c=36.991A˚for ZnIn_2S_4, and a=3.664A˚and c=36.884A˚ for ZnIn_2S_4:Co^2+. The optical absorption measured near the fundamental band edge showed that the optical energy band structure of these compounds had a direct and indirect band gap, the direct and indirect energy gaps are found to be 2.778 and 2.682 eV for ZnIn_2S_4, and 2.658 and 2.601 eV for ZnIn_2S_4:Co^2+ at 293K. The impurity optical absorption peaks due to cobalt are observed in ZnIn_2S_4:Co^2+ single crystal. These impurity optical absorption peaks can be attributed to the electronic transitions between the split energy levels of Co^2+ ions located at T_d symmetry site of ZnIn_2S_4 host lattice.

        The study states a theory based on U.C.C. §2-201 as the legal evidence of EDI messages. First, we ascertain the meaning of signature under the current system of trade at shich a paper is a supposed medium for concluding. Then, with investigating the legislative changes in introducing electronic telegram, we try to find the possibility of the adoption of EDI. Finally, in association to domestic electronic document, we compare and analyze the related laws and present basic problems that should be reflected in the process of EC legislation.

        청소년, 성인, 노인의 수면의 질과 수면 방해 요인 비교

        The purpose of this study is to search for sleep quality and factors which are influenced on sleep among adolescents, adults and elderly Subjects were 108 adolescents, 85 adults and 114 elderly who live around Taegu city. The data were collected from August 10, 1998 to January 20, 1999. A self-rating questionnaire was used to collect data. Data were analysed in frequency, percentage, X^2 -test, means, standard deviation, t-test, ANOVA, and Scheffe test by SAS computer programme. The results of this study were as follows : The mean score on quality of sleep was 4.57 in adult, 5.79 in adolescents, and 6.71 in elderly. There were statistically significant in quality of sleep among three groups. The mean score of quality of sleep in adults was the highest compared to others. The subjective quality of sleep in elderly was poorer than adults. Quality of sleep in elderly was characterized by prolonged sleep latency, reduced sleep duration, lowered habitual sleep efficiency. Adolescents had the highest level of daytime dysfunction among the three groups. Factors which were influenced on sleep in daily life were investigated. Adolescents were disturbed by 'nocturia(4.6%)', 'feeling too cold(4.6%)', and 'dreams(4.6%)'. Adults were disturbed by 'nocturia(7.1%)', 'other reasons(5.9%)', and 'cough and loud snoring(2.4%)'. And the elderly were disturbed by 'nocturia(75.5%)', 'other reasons(7.9%)', 'shortness of breath(4.4%)', and 'cough and loud snoring(4.4%). Nocturia was the common disturbing factor which was influenced on sleep in the elderly.
