The questionnaire are used for this research which has sex, school grade, health, father's scholarshiP, mother's scholarship, and a month pocket-money as a background variables, highschool students participating in the leisure activities as independent variable, the degree and satisfaction of leisure activities as parameter, and life satisfaction as dependent variable. The following results can be obtained from the analysis. First the result to analyze the mean difference of life satisfaction according to the demographic-social characteristics is that health, mother's scholarship and a month pocket-money has the meaningful difference, but there is no significant difference in the sex, school grade and father's scholarship. Second, the result to analyze the correlative relation among life satisfaction and six leisure participation satisfaction is that all the leisure participation satisfaction including psychological satisfaction, social satisfaction, relaxation satisfaction, environmental satisfaction, education satisfaction, and physiological satisfaction have significant positive correlative relation. In summary, it can be inferred that demographic-and-social variables and leisure participation satisfaction give much attribution to life satisfaction from the study.

This study examines the relationship between undergraduates' participation in life sports and their adaptation to campus life and focuses on examining the difference in their adaptation to campus life depending on set period and frequency of participation in life sports and their health on the assumption that their satisfaction with life by their participation in life sports have an affirmative influence on social life as well as campus life. First, adaptation of participants in life sports to campus life was higher in male undergraduates than in female undergraduates according to sex. Second, there was a significant difference in their adaptation to campus life according to frequency of participation in life sports. Third, there was a significant difference in their adaptation to campus life according to period of participation in life sports. Fourth, there was a significant difference in their adaptation to campus life according to intensity of participation in life sports. First, for inducing undergraduates to participate in life sports, attempts to invite them to participate in life sports should be made through expansion and improvement of life sports facilitie And to extend their participation in life sports, components of life sports including life sports facilities, programs and coaches should be extended and improved quantitatively. Motivation of undergraduates to take part in life sports should be encouraged and its improvements are urgently required.

This study aimed at examining how the organizational citizenship behavior as a significant attitude variable of organization members appear through daily sports activities and self-efficacy in local administration organizations. To study the organizational citizenship behavior of local public officers as an important attitude variable and the human resource management program that is used to guide their behaviors, it made an assumptive model based on the results of precedent studies and intended to examine its cause and effects. To achieve the purpose of the study, this study presented specific items to be examined and intended to identify them as follows. This study used questionnaire for the study, and it consists of questions about daily sports activities, self-efficacy, organizational citizenship behaviors, altruism, courtesy, sportsmanship, conscientiousness and civic virtue. The data, this study used the 'SPSSwin Ver. 10.01 statistics package' on a personal computer to perform descriptive statistics and demonstration of a research model and its assumption. For the statistical analysis, it used the single-dimensional analysis using Cronbach's Alpha, the Cross Tabulation, the Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) and the Multi-Regression.

<P>Previous studies have demonstrated the importance of monocyte chemoattractant protein-1 (MCP-1) in the pathogenesis of diabetic nephropathy in terms of inflammation, but the direct role of the MCP-1/CCR2 system on podocyte apoptosis under diabetic conditions has never been explored. In vitro, mouse podocytes were exposed to a medium containing 30?mM glucose (HG) with or without CCR2 siRNA or CCR2 inhibitor (RS102895). Podocytes were also treated with MCP-1 or TGF-β1 with or without anti-TGF-β1 antibody, CCR2 siRNA, or CCR2 inhibitor. In vivo, 20?db/m and 20?db/db mice were divided into two groups, and ten mice from each group were treated with RS102895. Western blot and Hoechst 33342 or TUNEL staining were performed to identify apoptosis. HG-induced apoptosis and TGF-β1 levels were significantly abrogated by CCR2 inhibition. In addition, treatment with MCP-1 directly induced apoptosis via CCR2. Moreover, TGF-β1- and MCP-1-induced apoptosis were significantly ameliorated by the inhibition of CCR2 and anti-TGF-β1 antibody, respectively. Glomerular expression of cleaved caspase-3 and apoptotic cells within glomeruli were also significantly increased in db/db mice compared to db/m mice, and these increases were significantly attenuated in db/db?+?RS102895 mice. These results suggest that interactions between the MCP-1/CCR2 system and TGF-β1 may contribute to podocyte apoptosis under diabetic conditions.</P>
Optimization of Parameters for GUS Gene Transformation of Porphyra yezoensis by Particle Bombardment

We optimized the biological and physical parameters for DNA delivery into thalli of the red alga Porphyra yezoensis using a particle bombardment device. The efficiency of transformation was determined using the ${\beta}-glucuronidase$ (GUS) assay. The optimal helium pressure, distance of tungsten particle flight, and ratio of DNA to tungsten particles were $23kgf/cm^2$, 8 cm, and $5{\mu}g/mg$ tungsten, respectively. During bombardment, osmotic treatment with a mixture of 0.6 M mannitol and sorbitol increased the efficiency of GUS transformation. After 2 days, the blue color indicating GUS activity was observed using a histochemical assay.

Heat shock protein (HSP) 60 and 10 are stress-inducible mitochondrial matrix proteins that form an important chaperonin complex for mitochondrial protein folding and function. Extensive studies on model fish species have revealed molecular chaperones, such as HSP90, HSP70, and low molecular weight HSP (16-47 kDa), but the study of chaperonins in fish has not yet been conducted. We present the full sequence of the HSP60 and HSP10 genes for the teleost olive flounder (Paralichthys olivaceus), which were found to be linked head-to-head comprising approximately 10 kb and consisting of 11 and 4 exons, respectively. Using a luciferase - reporter assay, we demonstrated that the region between the two genes functions as a bidirectional promoter. The nucleotide variations detected are localized in a putative CCAAT-box in the bidirectional promoter region, and analysis of the transcriptional activity of the promoter fragment with these variations showed that it affects transcriptional levels.

<P>Personality is a determinant of behavior and lifestyle that is associated with health and human diseases. Despite the heritability of personality traits is well established, the understanding of the genetic contribution to personality trait variation is extremely limited. To identify genetic variants associated with each of the five dimensions of personality, we performed a genome-wide association (GWA) meta-analysis of three cohorts, followed by comparison of a family cohort. Personality traits were measured with the Revised NEO Personality Inventory for the five-factor model (FFM) of personality. We investigated the top five single-nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) for each trait, and revealed the most highly association with neuroticism and TACC2 (rs1010657, P=8.79 10(-7)), extraversion and PTPN12 (rs12537271, P=1.47 10(-7)), openness and IMPAD1 (rs16921695, P=5 10(-8)), agreeableness and RPS29 (rs8015351, P=1.27 10(-6)) and conscientiousness and LMO4 (rs912765, P=2.91 10(-6)). It had no SNP reached the GWA study threshold (P<5 10(-8)). When expanded the SNPs up to top 100, the correlation of PTPRD (rs1029089) and agreeableness was confirmed in Healthy Twin cohort with other 13 SNPs. This GWA meta-analysis on FFM personality traits is meaningful as it was the first on a non-Caucasian population targeted to FFM of personality traits.</P>
