떫은감 품종의 하나인 등시를 이용하여 감장아찌 제조 중 과육의 이화학적 변화를 조사한 결과, 염도 변화는 저농도 간장 및 된장 침지의 경우 다소 완만한 증가를 보였고, 고농도의 간장 및 된장 침지의 경우 침지 기간내내 증가하는 것으로 나타났다. 간장 침지액 감장아찌의 경도는 간장 및 된장 모두 20-80% 농도에서는 침지 초기에는 증가하다가 침지 기간이 경과할수록 감소하는 경향을 나타내었다. 간장 침지 감장아찌의 색도 변화는 저장기간이 경과할수록 명도가 낮아지는 경향이었고, 적색도와 황색도는 침지액 농도를 달리하였을 경우 농도가 낮을수록, 침지 기간이 길어질수록 높았으며, 침지액 농도에 따른 차이는 크지 않았다. 침지액의 간장 및 된장의 농도를 달리하였을 때 감장아찌 중의 탄닌함량의 변화는 모든 침지액 농도에서 침지 기간이 지속될수록 탄닌의 함량은 저장 초기에 서서히 감소되다가 침지 기간이 길어질수록 급격히 감소하였으며, 첨가량에 따른 탄닌함량의 변화폭은 크지 않았다. 침지액의 간장 및 된장의 농도를 달리하였을 때 감과육에 존재하는 연화효소인 polygalacturonase와 pectinesterase 활성 변화는 간장침지 및 된장침지 모두 침지 초기부터 효소활성이 증가하기 시작하였으며 침지 기간이 경화할수록 효소활성은 더욱 높아지는 것을 알 수 있었고, 침지액의 농도가 높아질수록 효소활성이 억제되었다. Changes of physicochemical properties during the preparation of persimmon pickles were investigated. The salinity in persimmon pickles increased during storage time (0~50 days) with soy sauce and soy paste. When the fermented soy sauce and soy paste was added to the soaking solution with 80~100%, the salinity increased more rapidly. The hardness of persimmon pickles with soy sauce and soy paste was slightly increased up to the 20 or 30th day of storage and then decreased. L value of persimmon pickles was gradually decreased, but a and b value were slightly increased. The concentration of soluble tannin in persimmon pickles was slightly decreased down to the 20th day of storage and then decreased rapidly. The activities of polygalacturonase and pectinesterase as softening enzyme in persimmon pickles with soy sauce and soy paste increased during storage time (0-50 days) and enzyme activity was inhibited by high concentration of soaking solution.

Background: The prevalence of extended-spectrum β-lactamase-producing Escherichia coli (ESBL-EC) in the community has increased worldwide due to multifactorial reasons. ESBL-EC bloodstream infection (BSI) complicates the decision for proper antimicrobial administration. In this multicenter study, we investigated the prevalence, risk factors, and molecular background of community-onset (CO) ESBL-EC BSI. Methods: We included data for all episodes of ESBL-EC BSI of community origin from May 2016 to April 2017 obtained from the Korean national antimicrobial resistance surveillance system, which comprises six sentinel hospitals. Data, including previous history of admission and use of antimicrobials and medical devices before BSI, were collected, along with microbiological analysis results. Results: Among 1,189 patients with CO BSI caused by E. coli, 316 (27%) were identified as ESBL producers. History of admission, especially to a long-term care hospital (LTCH), and previous use of β-lactams/β-lactamase inhibitors, carbapenem, lincosamide, aminoglycoside, and extended-spectrum cephalosporin were independent risk factors for CO ESBL-EC BSI; admission to an LTCH showed the highest odds ratio (3.8, 95% confidence interval 2.3–6.1). The most common genotype was CTX-M-15 (N=131, 41%), followed by CTX-M-14 (N=86, 27%). ST131 was the most common sequence type among ESBL-EC groups (57%). Conclusions: In Korea, 27% of CO E. coli BSI were caused by ESBL producers. From perspectives of empirical treatment and infection control, history of admission to an LTCH and antimicrobial use should be noted.
Insecticidal Alkaloids on Aphids from Corydalis turtschaninovii Tubers

Tubers of Corydalis turtschaninovii were extracted with 80% aqueous methanol (MeOH), and the concentrated extract was successively partitioned with n-hexane, ethyl acetate (EtOAc), butanol (n-BuOH), and H2O. An activity-guided fractionation to search for insecticidal compounds against aphids led to the isolation of six alkaloids from the n-hexane and EtOAc fractions using a repeated silica gel, an octadecyl silica gel (ODS), and Sephadex LH-20 column chromatographic separations. Based on the spectroscopic data of NMR, mass spectroscopy (MS), and IR, the chemical structures of the compounds were determined to be: (+)-stylopine (1), (+)-corydaline (2), demethylcorydalmine (3), isocorypalmine (4), glaucine (5), and pseudoprotopine (6). These compounds showed significant insecticidal effects against Aphis gossypii, 69.7±7.2, 46.9±2.4, 68.5±8.6, 75.5±4.2, 80.2±9.7, and 78.9±11.3% at 1,000 ppm, respectively.

The aim of this study is to investigate how Korean college students perceived hybrid classes, in terms of their social interaction. Also, it aims to examine the relationship among ‘social interaction’, ‘sense of belonging to the class’, and ‘class satisfaction’ throughout the semester. To achieve the aims, the research questions were established as follows; 1) how did Korean college students perceive the hybrid online classes in terms of their ‘social interaction’, ‘sense of belonging to the class’, and ‘class satisfaction’?, 2) Is there a correlation among those three constructs as they took the online classes conducted in a hybrid format? Thirty-nine college students who took hybrid classes responded to the pre- and post-surveys, which were modified from the Rovai’s (2002) Classroom Community Scale (CCS). The t-test and the Pearson correlation efficient were employed. The results of data analysis showed that the hybrid classes had a positive effect on students’ perceptions of ‘social interaction’, ‘sense of belonging to the class’, and ‘class satisfaction’, and that the students’ social interaction in the hybrid classes had a statistically significant correlation with ‘sense of belonging to the class’ and ‘class satisfaction’. Based on the research findings, more suggestions and implications for the non-face-to-face classes are presented.

저자들은 육안적 혈뇨, 체중 감소를 주소로 입원하여 특별한 원인을 찾을 수 없는 심한 빈혈과 고감마글로불린병증을 보이고 신조직 검사에서 C-ANCA 양성 급속 진행성 사구체신염으로 진단된 예를 경험하였기에 보고 하는 바이다. Rapidly progressive glomerulonephritis(RPGN) is one of the most calamitous renal disease which is clinically characterized by sudden and relentless deterioration in renal function within weeks to months and associated with the pathologic finding of extensive extracapillary proliferation. Pauci-immune RPGN is mostly associated with anti neutrophil cytoplasmic antibody (ANCA) positive systemic vasculitis, but renal-limited RPGN may be found in part. We experienced a case of ANCA positive RPGN associated with polyclonal gammopathy without systemic symptoms. A 64-year-old woman was admitted with gross hematuria and azotemia. Laboratory findings revealed polyclonal gammopathy and severe anemia without definite cause, and she was diagnosed as C-ANCA positive crescentic glomerulonephritis without systemic vasculitis. She was treated with steroid pulse therapy and her renal function and anemia were progressively improved. We report herein a rare case of C-ANCA positive crescentic glomerulonephritis associated with polyclonal gammopathy and severe anemia with the review of literature.
POLARIZATION OF THOMSON SCATTERED LINE RADIATION FROM BROAD ABSORPTION LINE OUTFLOWS IN QUASARS

About 10 percent of quasars are known to exhibit deep broad absorption troughs blueward of prominent permitted emission lines, which are usually attributed to the existence of outflows slightly above he accretion disk around the supermassive black hole. Typical widths up to 0.2c of these absorption roughs indicate the velocity scales in which special relativistic effects may not be negligible. Under he assumption of the ubiquity of the broad absorption line region in quasars, the broad emission line flux will exhibit Thomson scattered components from these fast outflows. In this paper, we provide our Monte Carlo calculation of linear polarization of singly Thomson scattered line radiation with the careful considerations of special relativistic effects. The scattering region is approximated by a collection of rings that are moving outward with speeds ${\upsilon}=c{\beta}<0.2c$ near the equatorial plane, and the scattered line photons are collected according to its direction and wavelength in the observer's rest frame. We find that the significantly extended red tail appears in the scattered radiation. We also find that the linear degree of polarization of singly Thomson scattered line radiation is wavelength-dependent and hat there are significant differences in the linear degree of polarization from that computed from classical physics in the far red tail. We propose that the semi-forbidden broad emission line C III]1909 may be significantly contributed from Thomson scattering because this line has small resonance scattering optical depth in the broad absorption line region, which leads to distinct and significant polarized flux in this broad emission line.

<P>A Gram-staining-negative, yellow-pigmented, aerobic, rod-shaped and non-motile bacterium, PAMC 27130(T), was isolated from the marine sediment of the Ross Sea, Antarctica. The temperature, pH and NaCl tolerance ranges for growth were 4-20 degrees C, pH 6.0-9.0 and 0.5-5.0% (w/v) NaCl, respectively. Phylogenetic analysis based on 16S rRNA gene sequences showed that strain PAMC 27130(T) belonged to the genus Psychroserpens and was closely related to Psychroserpens mesophilus, Psychroserpens damuponensis and Psychroserp ens burtonensis with 97.2, 94.7 and 94.2% sequence similarities, respectively. Genomic relatedness analyses based on average nucleotide identity and genome-to-genome distance showed that strain PAMC 27130(T) could be clearly distinguished from other species of the genus Psychroserpens. The genomic DNA G+C content was 32.7 mol%. The major fatty acids (>10%) were C-20:4 omega 6c (13.2%), iso-C-15:0 (12.3%), iso-C-15:1 G (11.7%) and iso-C-15:0 3-OH (10.0%). The major respiratory isoprenoid quinone was menaquinone-6 (MK-6) and the polar lipids were phosphatidylethanolamine, two unidentified aminolipids, an unidentified phospholipid, an unidentified aminophospholipid and three unidentified lipids. On the basis of genotypic and phenotypic data collected in this study, it is proposed that strain PAMC 27130(T) represents a novel species of the genus Psychroserpens, for which the name Psychroserpens jangbogonensis sp. nov. is proposed. The type strain is PAMC 27130(T) (=KCTC 42128(T)=JCM 30228(T)).</P>
