Factors Affecting Foreign Direct Investment: Evidence on Tay Ninh Province

The purpose of this paper is to examine the impact of consumer price index, infrastructure, human resources, trade openness, and private credit on the attraction of foreign direct investment (FDI) in Tay Ninh province as well as to emphasize the important role of FDI in economic growth of developing areas. The research data was collected from Tay Ninh Statistical Office with 80 samples of a 20-year period from 2000 to 2019. Also, OLS regression method using Eviews software was employed to analyze the data obtained. The findings revealed that human resources, infrastructure and private credit have a positive and significant impact on FDI attraction in Tay Ninh province, while consumer price index was proven to affect FDI attraction negatively. Accordingly, competent authorities of Tay Ninh province should focus on stabilizing prices as well as implementing policies for developing local human resources and attracting high-quality personnel from foreign countries. Tay Ninh province also needs to pay more attention to information technology investment for synchronous development of infrastructure. Moreover, the State Bank of Tay Ninh branch needs to consider more credit sources to provide support packages for businesses, creating a strong basis for establishments to attract FDI for the province's economic development.
Development of Integrated Design Methodology for various types of Product-Service Systems

In this research, from system perspective, we propose a new PSS design methodology which is generic to work for different types of PSS. The interest of academia and industry in Product ? Service Systems (PSS) are increasing rapidly nowadays due to the benefit that PSS can bring. PSS can help to obtain economic, social and environmental goals through focusing on providing customers values and functionalities instead of solely physical products. There have been many methodologies proposed by various researchers to design PSS. Most of the existing methodologies are domain specific and were proposed to solve specific problems in certain projects. Some methodologies are generic but either they do not provide guidelines to practitioners and designers or they do not reflect the differences in the nature of various PSS types. In addition to the generic approach and the process flow to guide practitioners and designers to design PSS effectively, this methodology also takes into account user involvement, business model and organizational structure while designing PSS. To illustrate the effectiveness of the proposed methodology, we present case studies of different PSS types.

This paper compares design methodologies for Product service systems (PSS) in terms of how they treat various PSS dimensions and design aspects through reviewing most recent works in the field. The result of comparison is used to draw a guideline for designers and developers to choose appropriate design methodologies and approaches for their specific PSS project. PSS has been researched for more than a decade and is now becoming more and more popular in academia as well as industry. Despite that fact, the adoption of PSS is still limited for its potential. One of the main reasons is that designing PSS itself is still a challenge. Designers and developers face difficulties in choosing appropriate PSS design methodologies for their projects so that they can product effective PSS offerings. By reviewing most recent works, defining PSS dimensions and design aspects, selecting criteria and scoring rules, this paper shows a clear picture of how different design methodologies can be utilized at their best in terms of application.

The GMM is a conventional approach which has been recently applied in many face recognition studies. However, the question about how to deal with illumination changes while ensuring high performance is still a challenge, especially with real-world databases. In this paper, we propose a Visual Observation Confidence (VOC) measure for robust face recognition for illumination changes. Our VOC value is a combined confidence value of three measurements: Flatness Measure (FM), Centrality Measure (CM), and Illumination Normality Measure (IM). While FM measures the discrimination ability of one face, IM represents the degree of illumination impact on that face. In addition, we introduce CM as a centrality measure to help FM to reduce some of the errors from unnecessary areas such as the hair, neck or background. The VOC then accompanies the feature vectors in the EM process to estimate the optimal models by modified-GMM training. In the experiments, we introduce a real-world database, called KoFace, besides applying some public databases such as the Yale and the ORL database. The KoFace database is composed of 106 face subjects under diverse illumination effects including shadows and highlights. The results show that our proposed approach gives a higher Face Recognition Rate (FRR) than the GMM baseline for indoor and outdoor datasets in the real-world KoFace database (94% and 85%, respectively) and in ORL, Yale databases (97% and 100% respectively).
Mott Transition in the Asymmetric Hubbard Model at Half-filling: Equation of Motion Approach

We investigate the Mott metal-insulator transition in the asymmetric Hubbard model, which may describe the ground states of fermionic atoms trapped in optical lattices. We use the dynamical mean-field theory and the equation of motion approach to calculate the density of states at the Fermi level and the double occupation for various values of the on-site interaction U and the hopping asymmetry r. The critical interaction is also obtained as a function of the hopping asymmetry. Our results are in good agreement with the ones obtained by using the dynamical mean field theory with the exact diagonalization and the quantum Monte Carlo techniques.
Separation of Text and Non-text in Document Layout Analysis using a Recursive Filter

A separation of text and non-text elements plays an important role in document layout analysis. A number of approaches have been proposed but the quality of separation result is still limited due to the complex of the document layout. In this paper, we present an efficient method for the classification of text and non-text components in document image. It is the combination of whitespace analysis with multi-layer homogeneous regions which called recursive filter. Firstly, the input binary document is analyzed by connected components analysis and whitespace extraction. Secondly, a heuristic filter is applied to identify non-text components. After that, using statistical method, we implement the recursive filter on multi-layer homogeneous regions to identify all text and non-text elements of the binary image. Finally, all regions will be reshaped and remove noise to get the text document and non-text document. Experimental results on the ICDAR2009 page segmentation competition dataset and other datasets prove the effectiveness and superiority of proposed method.
