House Renovation for Management of Challenging Behavior in Persons with Autism

For truly inclusive environment for people with autism, "socialization" in addition to "accessibility" must be considered, but neither concepts of "barrier free" nor "universal design" guarantee full consideration for socialization. The authors proposed a new concept of assistive engineering technology, "comprehensive design," for promoting inclusive environment for persons with autism. In addition, examples of house renovation technique already in practice for persons with autism in Yokohama city were introduced.
Improved Chip Discharge in Drilling of Glass Plate Using Back Tapered Electroplated Diamond Tool

Previous studies of a through-hole drilling for hard and brittle materials using electroplated diamond tool devised by the authors have led to several challenges such as a restraint of crack size at the inlet and outside, a suppression of chip adhesion on the tool and an improvement of processing efficiency. In this paper, the devised tool was redesigned in order to restrain cracks of the inlet side as well as to improve the chip discharge. The new design of the tool featured a back taper which was expected to bring an effect of restraining crack size by preventing any interference between the tool cylindrical surface and the hole inner surface during drilling process. In addition, the chip can be discharged from the drilled hole through the back taper. Results of the experiment indicated that by providing the back tapered shape, the width of the inlet hole can be reduced slightly as the interference between the glass plate and the tool cylindrical surface was suppressed. Furthermore, the adhesion of chip on tool can be restrained by using the tool with large chip discharge space as the chip was easily discharged to the outside of the hole. Moreover, an abrupt change in thrust force was not detected, and the crack width was found in small size.

We tested a single pendulum simulation and observed the influence of several situation space segmentation types in reinforcement learning processes in order to propose a new adaptive automation for situation space segmentation. Its segmentation is performed by the Contraction Algorithm and the Cell Division Approach. Also, its automation is performed by “entropy,” which is defined on action values’ distributions. Simulation results were shown to demonstrate the influence and adaptability of the proposed method.

We experimented the configuration of a 5th generation mobile communication system (5G) for factory automation (FA) systems consisting of industrial robots and three-dimensional measurement sensors. We examined the configuration of system components, on the basis of which we developed an experimental FA system. In addition, we confirmed that the need for communication lines is eliminated as 5G greatly reduces the production preparation time when rearranging the parts of the developed FA system.

Here, we report that Vibrio parahaemolyticus induces a rapid remodeling of macrophage actin and activates RhoB GTPase. Mutational analysis revealed that the effects depend on type III secretion system 1 regulated translocation of a V. parahaemolyticus effector protein, VP1686, into the macrophages. Remodeling of actin is shown to be necessary for increased bacterial uptake followed by initiation of apoptosis in macrophages. This provides evidence for functional association of the VP1686 in triggering an eatme-and-die signal to the host.
붕소가 도핑된 다이아몬드 전극을 이용한 오존 발생효과 및 응용성

붕소가 도핑된 다이아몬드(Boron-doped diamond,BDD) 전극은 산업적으로 문제점들을 함유한 유기물전해에 있어서 매우 효과적인 전극으로 기대된다. 또한 물리적, 화학적으로 매우 안정하여 폐수용액이나 강한 산성용액 중에서도 전기 분해하여 오존을 생산하는 전극으로 쓰이며, 전기 화학적으로도 전극전위에 대한 매우 우수한 성능을 함유하고 있다. 본 실험실에서는 자체제작한 다이아몬드 전극을 이용하여 농도, 온도, 유속, 반응시간 등을 다양하게 변화시켜 내환경성 오존자동발생 system을 제작해 오존의 우수한 성능을 실생활에 유용하게 적용할 수 있는 오존 응용성에 대해 연구하였다. 그 결과 오존 발생량이 PbO<sub>2</sub> 전극의 발생량에 근접하였지만, PbO<sub>2</sub> 전극은 시간이 지남에 따라 구조가 붕괴하여 수명성에 한계를 보였고, 오존 발생량이 감소하였지만 다이아몬드 전극은 수명성 및 재료의 구조면에서도 안정성을 확인하였다. 본 연구는 오존발생 system을 이용하여 주변생활의 살균 및 소독, 탈취, 탈색에 응용하였고 기존의 PbO<sub>2</sub> 전극을 이용한 타 오존발생기와도 비교검토 하였다. 또한 각종 생활 폐수를 전기화학적 오존 발생 시스템을 이용한 응용성도 검토하였다.

Background/Aims: Crosstalk between the gut microbiota and bile acid plays an important role in the pathogenesis of gastrointestinal disorders. We investigated the relationship between microbial structure and bile acid metabolism in the ileal mucosa of Crohn’s disease (CD).Methods: Twelve non-CD controls and 38 CD patients in clinical remission were enrolled. Samples were collected from the distal ileum under balloon-assisted enteroscopy. Bile acid composition was analyzed by liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry. The gut microbiota was analyzed by 16S rRNA gene sequencing.Results: The Shannon evenness index was significantly lower in endoscopically active lesions than in non-CD controls. β-Diversity, evaluated by the UniFrac metric, revealed a significant difference between the active lesions and non-CD controls (<i>P</i>=0.039). The relative abundance of <i>Escherichia</i> was significantly higher and that of <i>Faecalibacterium</i> and <i>Roseburia</i> was significantly lower in CD samples than in non-CD controls. The increased abundance of <i>Escherichia</i> was more prominent in active lesions than in inactive lesions. The proportion of conjugated bile acids was significantly higher in CD patients than in non-CD controls, but there was no difference in the proportion of primary or secondary bile acids. The genera <i>Escherichia</i> and <i>Lactobacillus</i> were positively correlated with the proportion of conjugated bile acids. On the other hand, <i>Roseburia</i>, <i>Intestinibacter</i>, and <i>Faecalibacterium</i> were negatively correlated with the proportion of conjugated bile acids.Conclusions: Mucosa-associated dysbiosis and the alteration of bile acid composition were identified in the ileum of CD patients. These may play a role in the pathophysiology of ileal lesions in CD patients.
