Genome-wide analysis of the Dof transcription factors in castor bean (Ricinus communis L.)

        Zhengwei Jin,Aizhong Liu,Umashankar Chandrasekaran 한국유전학회 2014 Genes & Genomics Vol.36 No.4

DNA binding with one finger (Dof) transcriptionfactors are unique in plants, characteristically composedof a Dof domain in structure, functionally involvedin mediating many processes of plant growth and development. In this study, we report a genome-wide analysisfor Dof gene family in castor bean (Ricinus communis L.,Euphorbiaceae) genome. In total, 21 RcDof genes wereidentified and their constructional characterization, classesand phylogenetic relationships were documented. Theexpression profiles of the 21 RcDof genes among differenttissues were inspected using the high throughput RNA-Seqdata. Finally, SqRT-PCR analysis was performed to test thetranscriptional responses of the 21 RcDof genes to abscisicacid (ABA) and/or gibberellic acid (GA) signals, resultingin the identification of 18 RcDof genes responsive to ABAand/or GA signals. Thus, this study would provide basicinformation in understanding the molecular basis of theRcDof family and their potential function in regulating thegrowth and development of castor bean.

Effects of different amylose to amylopectin ratios on rumen fermentation and development in fattening lambs

        Zhao, Fangfang,Ren, Wen,Zhang, Aizhong,Jiang, Ning,Liu, Wen,Wang, Faming Asian Australasian Association of Animal Productio 2018 Animal Bioscience Vol.31 No.10

Objective: The objective of this experiment was to examine the effects of different amylose/amylopectin ratios on rumen fermentation and development of fattening lambs. Methods: Forty-eight 7-day-old male Small-tailed Han sheep${\times}$Northeast fine wool sheep were randomly assigned to four treatments of dietary amylose/amylopectin ratios (0.12, 0.23, 0.24, and 0.48 in tapioca starch, corn starch, wheat starch and pea starch diets, respectively). Three lambs from each treatment were slaughtered at 21, 35, 56, and 77 days of age to determine the rumen fermentation and development. Results: Compared with tapioca starch diet, the pea starch diet significantly increased the concentration of ammonia nitrogen in the ruminal fluid of lambs but significantly decreased the bacterial protein content. At 56 and 77 d, the rumen propionate concentration tended to be greatest in the tapioca starch group than in other groups. The rumen butyrate concentration was the greatest in lambs fed on pea starch compared with those fed on other starch diets. Furthermore, the pea starch diet significantly stimulated rumen development by increasing the papillae height, width and surface area in the rumen ventral or dorsal locations in lambs. However, different amylose/amylopectin ratios diets did not significantly affect the feed intake, body weight, average daily gain, the relative weight and capacity of the rumen in lambs with increasing length of trial periods. Conclusion: Lambs early supplemented with a high amylose/amylopectin ratio diet had favourable morphological development of rumen epithelium, which was not conducive to bacterial protein synthesis.

Social Support, Coping Strategies, Depression, Anxiety, and Cognitive Function Among People With Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus: A Path Analysis

        Wenhang Chen,Rehanguli Maimaitituerxun,Jingsha Xiang,Yu Xie,Fang Xiao,Irene Xinyin Wu,Letao Chen,Jianzhou Yang,Aizhong Liu,Wenjie Dai 대한신경정신의학회 2024 PSYCHIATRY INVESTIGATION Vol.21 No.9

Objective To explore the linear associations between social support, coping strategies, depression, anxiety, and cognitive function among people with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) using a path-analytic method. Methods This cross-sectional study enrolled 496 individuals hospitalized due to T2DM. Well-trained investigators conducted face-to-face interviews with the participants using the Social Support Rating Scale, the Chinese version of Medical Coping Modes Questionnaire, the Hospital Anxiety and Depression scale, and the Mini Mental State Examination to measure social support (including objective support, subjective support, and support utilization), coping strategies (including confrontation, avoidance, and acceptance-resignation), depression/anxiety, and cognitive function, respectively. A path analysis was used to elucidate the linear associations between social support, coping strategies, depression, anxiety, and cognitive function. Results In the final path model with satisfactory model fit, objective support was found to be associated with cognitive function not only directly but also indirectly through confrontation coping and depression, and acceptance-resignation coping and depression/anxiety. Further, subjective support was found to be associated with cognitive function indirectly through depression/anxiety, as well as serially through acceptance-resignation coping and depression/anxiety. Support utilization was found to be associated with cognitive function indirectly through confrontation coping and depression, as well as through acceptance-resignation coping and depression/anxiety. Conclusion Social support, coping strategies, depression, and anxiety were associated with cognitive function among people with T2DM, and these associations were best explained by a serial mediation model from social support, coping strategies, and depression and anxiety to cognitive function.
