Fifty six patients with unstable thoracolumbar bursting fractures were treated using variable internal fixation devices such as the Kaneda Anterior Fixation System(Kaneda device), the Z-Plate-ATL^(TM) Anterior Fixation System(Z-Plate ATL^(TM)device), the Harrington device. Cotrel-Dudousset(CD) or Compact Cotrel Dubousset(CCD) device of Steffee Transpedicular System with or without decompression. Suchy internal fixation devices were grouped into anterior and posterior internal fixation devices and compared with each other in the aspect of the degree of neurological improvement, the changes of the vertebral height and the kyphotic angle, the duration of admission, and postoperative complications. In conclusion, the anterior internal fixation device appears to be of more benefit in the management of patients with unstable thoracolumbar bursting fracture

初生雛 育成飼料의 主飼料인 옥수수의 代置飼料로서 밀을 이용한 代置水準을 究明하고저 本 實驗을 實施하였던 바 그 結果는 다음과 같다. 1. 增體量은 옥수수와 밀을 各各 50%씩 使用한 區와 밀보다 옥수수를 많이 使用한 區가 밀 만을 使用한 區에 비해서 增體量이 좋았다. 2. 飼料攝取量은 옥수수를 제일많이 使用한 區가 제일 적었고, 반대로 밀을 많이 사용한 區 일수록 높았다. 3. 飼料效率은 옥수수와 밀을 50%씩 使用한 區가 옥수수와 밀의 單用區 보다는 좋았다. 4. kg增體에 所要된 飼料費는 옥수수와 밀을 50%씩 사용한 區가 제일 낮아 本 試驗에 의하면 養鷄配合飼料의 穀類 60%中 밀을 30%程度 使用할 수 있다고 하겠다. To investigate the substitute level of wheat for corn used as major ration of laying hen, was carried out. The results obtained were as follows: 1. Body weight gain was higher in the treatment of Corn 50% : Wheat 50% and in used more corn than wheat in contrast with the treatment used only wheat. 2. Diet intake was least in the treatment used only corn and on the other hand, the only wheat was higher than other treatment used corn in the diet intake. 3. Feed efficiency was more improved in the treatment used 50% of wheat and corn, respectively than in the treatment used only wheat. 4. Feed cost required per kg body gain was lowest in the treatment used 50% of wheat and corn. Therefore, according to the present experiment it may be to say that s0% of wheat will be substituted for corn in the formulated ration of laying hen using 60% cereals.

A recombinant human erythropoietin (rHuEPO) was administered intravenously at dosage levels of 0, 100, 500, and 2500 IU/㎏/day for a period of 13 weeks. There were no observed clinical signs and deaths related to treatment in all groups tested. Decreases in body weight gain and food consumption were observed only in males of 2,500 IU/㎏ group after 2 weeks. In hematological parameters, erythrocyte content, hematocrit values and hemoglobin concentration were dose-dependently increased in rHuEPO treated groups. The ratio between kidney weight and whole body weight was significantly increased in females of 500 and 2,500 IU/㎏ groups. The spleen weight was also increased in both sexes of 500 and 2,500 IU/㎏ groups. However, the absolute weight change of other organs was not observed. In histopathological examinations, the renal tubular basophilia was observed only in males and females of 2,500 IU/㎏ groups. From these results, it is concluded that the no-observed adverse effect level(NOAEL) of rHuEPO is 100 IU/㎏ in rats in the present study.

<P>Ubiquitin-fold modifier 1 (Ufm1) is a newly identified ubiquitin-like protein. Like ubiquitin and other ubiquitin-like proteins, Ufm1 is synthesized as a precursor that needs to be processed to expose the conserved C-terminal glycine prior to its conjugation to target proteins. Two novel proteases, named UfSP1 and UfSP2, have been shown to be responsible for the release of Ufm1 from Ufm1-conjugated cellular proteins as well as for the processing of its precursor. They show no sequence homology with known proteases. Here, we describe the 1.7A resolution crystal structure of mouse UfSP1, consisting of 217 amino acids. The structure reveals that it is a novel cysteine protease having a papain-like fold, with Cys(53), Asp(175), and His(177) that form a catalytic triad, and Tyr(41) that participates in the formation of the oxyanion hole. This differs from the canonical catalytic triad of papain-like proteases in that the aspartate and the histidine residues are from the 'Asp-Pro-His' box. The Asp-Pro-His configuration seen in UfSP1, together with Atg4B and M48(USP), seem to form a new subfamily of the cysteine protease superfamily. The mutagenesis study of the active site residues confirms structural basis for catalysis. The interaction between UfSP1 and Ufm1 appears quite substantial, since the K(D) value was estimated to be 1.6 mum by the isothermal titration calorimetry analysis. Furthermore, the NMR data shows that the loop between beta3 and alpha2 in addition to the C-terminal region of Ufm1 plays a role in binding to UfSP1.</P>

인터넷을 통한 명예훼손은 통상의 그 빠른 전파력으로 인해 통상의 명예훼손보다 훨씬 더 치명적인 영향을 피해자에게 미친다. 그러므로 이와 관련하여 예방사상이 그 어느 분야보다도 중요한 의미를 지니게 되는 것이다. 이러한 예방의 관점에서 흥미를 자아내는 두 가지 법적 장치, 즉 인터넷 포털의 책임 강화 및 인터넷 실명제에 대해본고에서는 간략하게 고찰해 보았다. 사법부에 의해 주도된 인터넷 포털의 책임 강화는 두 가지 쟁점을 내포하고 있는데, 인터넷 포털이 그들 사이트에 올려진 타 언론사의 기사내용에 대해 법적 책임을 지는가의 문제가 그 하나이고, 다른 하나는 인터넷 포털이 그들이 제공하는 인터넷 카페, 블로그, 미니홈페이지 등에 게시된 게시물의 내용에 대해 어떠한 책임을 지는가의 문제이다. 대법원은 인터넷 포털이 인터넷 세상에서 현재 행사하고 있는 지대한 영향력을 고려하여 이러한 두 가지 문제에 대해 모두 적극적인 태도를 취함으로써 포털의 책임을 강화하는 방향으로 판례를 이끌고 있다. 언론기사 문제의 경우 타인의 언명이 포털의 언명으로 인정될 수 있는가 여부가 주된 문제로 되는 반면, 인터넷 게시판 문제의 경우 포털의 방조책임 성립 여부가 주로 문제 되는데 그 방향에서는 대법원의 태도에 수긍이 가지만 보다 세심한 근거를 제시하는 노력이 병행되어야 할 것으로 보인다. 인터넷 실명제는 두 가지 형태의 것이 병존하고 있었는데, 공직선거법상의 특수한 실명제와 정보통신망법의 보다 일반적인 실명제가 그것이었다. 그런데 후자의 것에 대해서는 최근에 헌법재판소에서 위헌결정을 하였으므로 일반적 인터넷 실명제는 역사 속으로 사라졌다. 그러나 전자의 실명제는 여전히 그 법적 효력을 유지하고 있는데, 특히 익명의 표현까지 아우르는 광범위한 표현의 자유가 한층 더 중요한 의미를 갖는 공직선거와 관련하여 이미 위헌의 낙인을 받은 인터넷 실명제가 버젓이 기능하고 있는 것은 아이러니라 하겠다. 입법자들의 신속한 움직임이 필요한 상황이다.

<P>Activation of spinal glial cells plays a crucial role in the pathogenesis of neuropathic pain. An administration of oxaliplatin, an important anticancer drug, often induces acute neuropathic cold hypersensitivity and/or mechanical hypersensitivity in patients. Gyejigachulbu-tang (GBT), a herbal formula comprising<I> Cinnamomi Cortex, Paeoniae Radix, Atractylodis Lanceae Rhizoma, Zizyphi Fructus, Glycyrrhizae Radix, Zingiberis Rhizoma, </I>and<I> Aconiti Tuber</I>, has been used in East Asia to treat various pain symptoms, especially in cold patients. This study investigated whether and how GBT alleviates oxaliplatin-induced cold and mechanical hypersensitivity in rats. The behavioral signs of cold and mechanical hypersensitivity were evaluated by a tail immersion test in cold water (4°C) and a von Frey hair test, respectively. The significant cold and mechanical hypersensitivity were observed 3 days after an oxaliplatin injection (6 mg/kg, i.p.). Daily oral administration of GBT (200, 400, and 600 mg/kg) for 5 days markedly attenuated cold and mechanical hypersensitivity. Immunoreactivities of glial fibrillary acidic protein (GFAP, astrocyte marker) and OX-42 (microglia marker) in the spinal dorsal horn were significantly increased by an oxaliplatin injection, which were restored by GBT administration. These results indicate that GBT relieves oxaliplatin-induced cold and mechanical hypersensitivity in rats possibly through the suppression of spinal glial activation.</P>
