Change in hardness and microstructure during porcelain firing simulation in a Pd-Ag-In-Au metal-ceramic alloy was examined by observing the change in hardness, crystal structure and microstructure. In the as-cast specimen, the matrix was composed of the Pd3Ga phase(f.c.t.), and the particle-like structures were composed of the Pd-Ag-based phase(f.c.c.). The precipitates which covered the particle-like structures were composed of the Pd3In phase(f.c.t.). Specimen which was cooled by ice quenching after oxidation was softened due to homogenization of the microstructure, and then it was hardened due to precipitation during the simulated firing stages. The decrease in hardness by subsequent firing schedule was resulted from reduction of precipitates in the particle-like structures.

소량의 금, 인디움 및 아연을 함유한 치과용 Ag-Pd-Cu계 합금의 석출경화 현상을 규명하기 위하여 시효처리에 따른 경도 변화, 상 변태, 미세구조 변화 그리고 원소분포를 조사하여, 다음과 같은 결과를 얻었다. 용체화처리된 시편은 Ag-rich α 기지, 크고 작은 크기의 CuPd β 입자형 구조 그리고 Ag-rich α 층과 CuPd β 층으로 된 층상구조로 이루어져 있었다. 경도의 상승은 Ag-rich α 기지로부터 Cu-rich 상의 석출에 기인하였다. 모상인 Ag-rich α 상이 완전히 분해되기 전에 Cu-rich 상의 침상구조가 입계에 출현하였고, 이로 인하여 경도의 지속적인 상승이 제지 되었다. 미세한 침상구조의 입계 형성, 입내로의 성장 및 조대화가 기지와 석출물 사이의 상간 계면을 감소시켜 연화를 초래하였다. 다양한 크기의 CuPd β 입자형 구조는 경도 변화에 영향을 미치지 않았다.

치과용 Ag-Au-Cu-Pd-Zn-lr 합금의 상 분리와 규칙화의 이중 기구에 의한 시효경화를 규명하기 위하며 경화 거동, 상 변태, 미세 구조의 변화를 조사하여, 다음과 같은 결과를 얻었다. 시효 초기에 경도는 비교적 완만하지만 꾸준히 상승하여 최고치에 도달하였고, 그 후 경도는 급격히 하강하다가 서서히 하강했다. 시효 초기의 완만한 경도 상승은 α<sub>0</sub> 기지에서 Ag-Au-rich α₁ 상과 준안정상인 AuCu I 상의 핵 생성과 성장에 기인하였다. 그 후에 일어난 꾸준한 경도 상승은 준안정상인 AuCu I 상이 안정상인 AuCu I 상으로 변태되는 것에 기인하였다. 결정 입계에서 그리고 이어서 입내에서 생성되는 층상 조직이 격자 뒤틀림을 효과적으로 해소하여 연화를 초래하였다. 입내에서 생성된 미세한 층상조직의 조대화가 입계에서 생성된 층상 조직의 조대화보다 더 뚜렷하게 경도 하강을 유발하였다.

In the present study, the age-hardenability of various Au-Cu-Zn alloys containing Pd at intraoral temperature was evaluated by means of hardness test and X-ray diffraction (XRD) study after solution-treatment at various temperatures and then aging at intraoral temperature. The apparent age-hardenability of Pd-free AuCu-20Zn (at%) alloy (specimen 1) at intraoral temperature resulted from the formation of the AuCu Ⅱ ordered phase, and the age-hardenability at intraoral temperature became apparent with increasing solution-treatment temperature. The age-hardenability of the Au-Cu-Zn alloys containing Pd at intraoral temperature decreased with increasing Pd content. The alloy containing 10 at% Pd did not show age-hardenability at intraoral temperature even with Zn addition up to 20 at%. The alloy containing 5 at% Pd showed relatively apparent age-hardenability at intraoral temperature, which resulted from the atomic diffusion by the help of quenched in excess vacancies. The low e/a-value (electrons per atom) of Pd was thought to be the reason for the inhibition of the AuCu Ⅱ phase formation in the Au-Cu-Zn alloys containing Pd.

In the present study, the age-hardenability at intra-oral temperature of various Au-Cu-Zn alloys containing Ga, Ti, Sn, Cr was evaluated by means of hardness test and X-ray diffraction (XRD) study after solution-treatment at various temperatures and then aging at intra-oral temperature. By the addition of Ti and Sn, the age-hardenability at intra-oral temperature of Au-Cu-Zn alloys decreased apparently. And by the addition of Ga and Cr, the apparent age-hardenability at intra-oral temperature of Au-Cu-Zn alloys was preserved. In Cr-added Au-Cu-Zn alloys, the reduction of Cu content rather than Zn content was much more effective for preserving the age-hardenability at intra-oral temperature. The apparent age-hardenability at intra-oral temperature of Ga- or Cr-added Au-Cu-Zn alloys attributed to the formation of the AuCu Ⅱ ordered phase. In the Au-Cu-Zn alloys containing Cr, the increased Cr content did not prevent the formation of AuCu Ⅱ ordered phase at intra-oral temperature, but possibly reduced the driving force for the formation of AuCu Ⅱ ordered phase at intra-oral temperature. If Ga- or Cr-added Au-Cu-Zn alloy having apparent age-hardenability at intra-oral temperature is used as a dental alloy, it will become harder in the oral cavity without additional heat-treatment.
병풍쌈의 에탄올 추출물의 항산화 기능 및 DNA의 산화적 손상 억제작용

The Korean edible mountainous vegetable, byeongpungssam, [Cacalia firma Komar. (CFK)] is a wild plant found in the intermountain areas in Korea. The aim of this study was to investigate its free radical scavenging activity using 1,1-diphenyl-2-picryl-hydrazyl (DPPH), 2,2-azinobis(3- ethylbenozothiazoline-6-sulfonic acid) diammonium salt (ABTS), ferric reducing/antioxidant power (FRAP) assays, an electron spin resonance spectroscopy (ESR). We also examined its protective effect against oxidative DNA damage using agarose electrophoresis of ethanol (EtOH) extract of CFK. The protective activity of the extract against the DNA damage induced by HO·radicals was compared to epicatechin, ascorbic acid (AsA) and trolox as reference antioxidant compounds. Total phenolic content in the extract was determined spectrometrically according to the Folin- Ciocalteu procedure and calculated as gallic acid equivalents (GAE). Total polyphenolic content of the extract was measured in the leaves (161.53±1.07 μg/g) and shoot (142.45±0.56 μg/g). The antioxidant potential of the extracts against some radicals and DNA damage by HO·radicals showed over 60%, respectively.
