Using the 1994 Survey on the Living Status of Korean Elderly, conducted by the Korea Institute for Health and Social Affairs for those aged 60 and over sampled from the whole country, the paper explores the living status of disprivileged groups among the aged. Three aspects of living status, economic condition, health status and emotional status, are compared by age, sex and residence. A series of loglinear models is used for the analysis. The result shows that; (1) the likelihood to be economically dependent on their children is higher for older aged (aged 70 and over) and females but lower for rural residents; (2) the likelihood that the elderly do not feel economic difficulty is higher for older aged, but lower for females and rural residents; (3) the likelihood to have health supporter is higher for the older aged; (4) the older aged are more likely to be satisfied with the health support, but females are less likely to be satisfied; (5) the likelihood to have emotional supporter is lower for older aged, females and rural residents; and (6) females are less likely to be satisfied with the emotional support and the extent of this likelihood depends on the ages of females. It is suggested to select the target population for more effective welfare policies for the elderly persons.
