N/A Background/Aims: The autonomic nervous system distributed throughout the stomach consists of adrenergic, cholinergic, and non-adrenergic, non-cholinergic (NANC) nerves. Of these, NANC nerve fibers are known to be distributed all throughout the gastrointestinal tract and they provide the main inhibitory nerve supply to the gut smooth muscle. NANC nerve is known to release neurotransrnitters such as nitric oxide (NO), adenosine 5-triphosphate (ATP) and vasoactive intestinal peptide (VIP). However, the effect produced by each of the NANC neurotransmitter depends on an animal species and parts of gastrointestinal tract. Therefore, this experiment applied electrical field stirnulation at the circular musc]e of a guinea pigs gastric fundus to observe any relation of NANC nerve in muscu]ar relaxation. Methods: The effect of ATP, VIP, and NO on muscle re)axation was determined through the electrical field stimulation, and each neurotrans- mitters ability to regulate the muscle relaxation was compared. Results: Muscle strips were relaxed in response to electrical field stimulation that was applied. The relaxation was not inhibited by atropine or guanethidine, but was completely inhibited by tetrodotoxin. The muscle relaxation caused by NANC nerve stimulation was inhibited by L-NNA, VIP antagonist, and suramin. L-NNA was the most potent inhibitor among them. The muscle relaxation caused by electrical field stimulation was not further inhibited by VIP antagonist after the pretreatment of L-NNA, however, it was further inhibited by L-NNA following the treatment of VIP antagonist. The electrically stimulaed induced muscle relaxation was almost complete]y abolished by coadministration of L-NNA with VIP antagonist and suramin, The exogenous VIP-induced muscle relaxation was not affected by presence or absence of L-NNA. Oxyhemoglobin or methylene blue treatment inhibited the muscle relaxation induced by electrical field stimulation. Conclusions: Non-adrenergic and non-cholinergic nerve has an inhibitory neurotransmission in a guinea pigs gastric fundus circular muscle and NO is the principal inhibitory neurotransmitter of NANC nerve. NO mediated muscle relaxation is thought to be associated with increase of cGMP in muscle cells. (Korean J Gastroen- terol 1997;29:2S9 - 300)

This study was performed to examine the effect of face, scalp and decollete care for middle aged-women on their stress and skin. After selecting total 20 middle aged-women in Daejeon-si, the test was conducted for total eight times(20minutes each time, twice a week for 31 days) from July 1st to July 30 2012 with three groups including Group A(n=7) with only facial care, Group B(n=7) with combined face and scalp care and Group C(n=6) with combined decollete and facial care. In the results of analyzing the survey after the test, the highest satisfaction was shown with the group with combined decollete and facial care, and then respectively the group with scalp and facial care and the group with only facial care. In order to fully determine the effect of face·.scalp·.decollete care for middle aged-women on their skin condition and stress, it is considered to be necessary to accumulate experimental researches, to extend the test model of this study, to draw additional test models and have following researches on them. It is expected to research/develop various programs about the effect on middle aged-women's skin condition and stress and that can be effectively applied to middle aged-women's skin condition changes and stress relieving in the future.

Background/Aims: Two different methods of colon transit time studies (4-day method and 7-day method) are commonly used in Korea. The aim of this study was to define the normal values and to compare the clinical usefulness of the two methods. Methods: Seventy-five healthy volunteers and 101 patients with chronic constipation were enrolled in this study. Radio-opaque markers were given for 3 days and simple abdominal radiographs were obtained on the 4th and 7th days. Colon transit times estimated by only 4th-day film (CTT-4) and by both 4th and 7th-day films (CTT-7) were compared. Results: The upper limits of normal volunteers without constipation were 56 hours in CTT-4 and 61 hours in CTT-7. In selecting constipated patients with delayed transit, the results of both methods were comparable (kappa=0.823, p<0.01). However, the 4-day method could not differentiate patients with severely delayed transit from patients with mildly delayed transit. Conclusions: Four-day method is useful in selecting constipated patients with delayed transit but it does not give relevant information on the severity of delayed transit. Seven-day method can be used in selecting patients with severely delayed transit. (Korean J Gastroenterol 2001;38:241-246)
일개 종합병원 복강경 위절제술 환자의 표준진료지침 적용효과

본 연구는 새롭게 개발된 복강경 위절제술의 표준진료지침(Critical pathway, CP) 적용효과를 분석하기 위해 수행되었다. 연구대상은 전라남도에 소재한 C병원 위장관클리닉에서 위암으로 진단받고 복강경 위아 전절제술을 시행하고 퇴원한 20세 이상의 성인 환자로, 실험군은 2008년 10월부터 2009년 9월까지 CP를 적용하여 복강경 위아전절제술을 시행한 환자 102명으로 하였고, 대조군은 2007년 9월부터 2008년 9월까지 CP를 적용하지 않고 복강경 위아전절제술을 시행한 환자 63명으로 하였다. 본 연구결과 퇴원시 통증에서는 CP적용군이 비적용군보다 퇴원 당일 통증이 있는 경우가 0.07배 낮았다(Odds ratio [OR], 0.07; 95% Confidence interval [CI], 0.03-0.21). 총 재원일수는 CP적용군에서는 평균(표준오차)은 8.95(1.33)일, 비적용군에서는 평균 10.69(4.04)일로 유의한 차이를 보였고(p<0.001), 수술 후 재원일수 또한 CP적용군이 평균 7.16(0.94)일, 비적용군이 평균 8.79(3.90)일로 통계적으로 유의한 차이(p<0.001)를 보였다. 본 연구 결과 복강경 위절제술에 대한 CP의 적용은 퇴원시 통증감소, 총 재원일수 및 수술 후 재원일수를 단축시키는 효과를 보였다. This study is aim to investigate how applying a critical pathway(CP) to stomach cancer patients affects their recovery and treatment. The subjects were 165 patients over the age of 20 who were diagnosed with stomach cancer at the gastrointestinal clinic of C hospital and who underwent laparoscopic subtotal gastrectomy. The case group inclueded 102 patients who underwent laparoscopic subtotal gastrectomy with applying the CP from October 2008 to September 2009. The control group included 63 patients who underwent laparoscopic subtotal gastrectomy without applying the CP from September 2007 to September 2008. Pain at the time of discharge was significantly lower in the CP applicated group than in the non-applicated group (Odds ratio [OR], 0.07; 95% Confidence interval [CI], 0.03-0.21). The CP applied group was significantly lower than non-applied group in total hospitalization days (CP applied group: 8.95[1.33], non-applied group: 10.69[4.04], p<0.001) and in postoperative hospitalization days (CP applied group: 7.16[0.94], non-applied group: 8.79[3.90], p<0.001). In conclusion, application of a critical pathway to laparoscopic subtotal gastrectomy reduced pain at the time of discharge, total hospitalization days and postoperative hospitalization days.
VRML을 이용한 컴퓨터 조립과정 학습 시스템 설계 및 구현

본 논문에서는 가상현실을 기반으로 하는 컴퓨터 조립과정 학습 시스템을 구현하였다. 컴퓨터 조립과정을 교육하는데 있어서는 실습이 가장 중요하다. 그러나 기존의 자료들은 과정을 설명한 텍스트나, 2차원 이미지 데이터를 사용하고 있어 그저 보여주는 학습에 그치고 있다. 이런 단점을 보완하기에는 가상현실을 이용한 학습이 가장 좋은 대안일 것이다. 본 논문은 VRML과 EAI를 이용한 Java를 사용하여 시스템을 구현하였다. 이는 학습자들에게 좀더 현실감있는 교육환경을 제시해 주어서 학습효과를 극대화시킬 수 있다.

The subsiding branch of the Hadley circulation accompanied by dry, warm and suppressed convection is associated with subtropical deserts. The tropical belt has widened for last decades as expanded in the width of Hadley cell. Here we investigate the variability of hemispheric boundaries with potential causes behind this widening. Observational analysis shows that the Northern and Southern Hemispheric boundaries have poleward moved by 0.56°/decade and 0.75°/decade, respectively. The Northern (Southern) expansion is closely related with the tropospheric cooling (warming) in tropics (high-latitudes). The tropical expansion is also linked to the dominant variabilities in the Pacific, La Nina and Pacific Decadal Oscillation (PDO). We conclude that global climate modes need to capture Hadley cell changes in response to the variations of the both meridional temperature gradient and sea surface temperature.
