Purpose: The purpose of this study is to investigate the therapeutic use of Hepatocyte growth factor(Adv.CMV.HGF) in temporomandibular joint disc defect. Materials and methods: Twelve New Zealand white rabbits, weighing 2.5 - 3.0 kg, were used in this experiment. Defects(2 mm in diameter) were created in their TMJ discs. Recombinant Adv.CMV.HGF with gelatin sponge($Gelfoam^{(R)}$) as carrier was implanted in the defects. We divided the rabbits into four batches according to the duration of the implantation - of 1, 4, 8, 12 weeks - and both left and right TMJ of each rabbit in all groups were used in the research : left joints were used as experiment group and right were control group. Each batch of rabbits was killed one, four, eight and twelve weeks after the experimentation respectively, and called Group A, B, C, and D. (Group A = 1 wk, B = 4 wks, C = 8 wks, and D = 12 wks) Results: The experimental group showed a significant increase in the number of chondroblasts and active cell differentiation at the margin of the defects. Compared to the control group, in the experiment group chondroblasts increased and chondrocytes showed a columnar arrangement, which is witnessed at the time of cell differentiation. Conclusion: This study supports the case that Avd.CMV.HGF may be useful in the repair of articular disc of the rabbit TMJ.

The purpose of this study has been to provide the meaningful results of analyzing 154 marathoners(100 male athletes from 66 countries and 54 female runners from 36 countries) who participated in the 2000 Sydney Olympic Games. The results are as follows; 1.The improvement of speed endurance is the most important factor in marathon races because recent marathon results are getting shorten in major international marathon races and Olympic Games. 2.The long-term and systematic training programs are required for early selection and training of potential young athletes. 3.Scientific facilities and expert's cooperation are necessary for systematic training and running strategies. 4.Increase of participation in many major international meets enables runners to overcome psychological anxieties and to control their races. 5.Preparation regarding the race should be made, such as environment, weather condition, marathon course, jetlag and adjustment of physi condition. Expert's cooperation is necessary.

Accidents involving students are an important cause of death and disability. They also have enormous financial implications. In order to prevent childhood accidents, research and education for safety should be strengthened. The purpose of this study was to determine how often lower grade elementary students have accidents and what factors affect the accidentrate. The study population consisted of 676 students who were in the 2nd, 3rd and 4th grades of twelve elementary schools located in Kun Wi Gun. The questionnaires were distribtuted to all of the 2nd to 4th grade student in the Kun Wi Gun to be completed by their parents about all the accidents which happende last one year and collected during the period of March 19, to March 30,2001. The data were analyzed by using SPSS WIN 10.0 statistical package. The results of the stucy are as follow; 1. Among 676 students, 270 students had 540 accidental injuries during the study period. 2. The month, the day and the time with the highest accident rate were April, Monday, and between 1 and 4 p. m. each. 3. In the analysis of the location where the injury took place, the most frequent place was on school,around their homes and, then inside the home. 4. Most of accidents were carsed by carelessness on the part of the stucents and the most frequent type of injury was an abrasion. 5. Students most injured part of the body was their legs. 6.They were treated at home most often and usually emergency treatment was performed by family members with disinfectant as first aid measure. Cost of the treatment of the accident ranged from 10,000 to 30.000 won in most cases. 7. Students' personality, type of family composition, mother's age and parents' education level were statistically significant. As a conclusion, 1st to 3rd grade rural elemtntary students need their assessment for accident involving condition. This study gave a very useful and impoutant data to prepare accident prevention teaching program and to prepare accident prevention strategies.

Nach F. Schlegel ist die romantische Ironic gerade die freie and bewuBte Selbstbeschrankung der Kunstler bei dem kunstlerischen Schaffen, wobei der Dualismus der Ironic betont wcrden muB. Das heiBt, sic enthalt ein Gefuhl von Widerspruch dcs Unbedingten and Bedingten, and des Unendlichen and Endlichcn, and der Unmeglichkeit and Notwendigkeit einer vollstandigen Mittcilung. Die Ironic besteht aus stetem Wechsel der Kunstphilosophie and Taturphilosophie, der Selbstschtipfung and Selbstvernichtung and des Ernstes and Scherzes. In Hoffmanns Marchen $quot;Der goldene Topf$quot; macht sick die Anwendung der Ironic am ehesten in dem standigen Wechsel von Phantasiewelt and Burgerwelt sichtbar; der T.eser wird immer wieder aus dem Bereich des Marchenhaften zusammenhangles herausgerissen and in die banale Welt der Philister versetzt. Die von Hoffmann erfundene Gestalt gewinnt so viol geistige Selbstaindigkeit, daB sic nicht nur ihre Zufriedenheit oder Unzufriedenhcit mit ihrem Schdpfer um Ausdruck bringen, sondern sic ihm sogar zur Fertigstellung seines Verkes verhelfen lcann. So ist das Kunstmittel der angewandten Ironic in diesem Marchen nie zu verkennen. E.T.A. Hoffmann hat noch Fahigkeit, these Ironic als stilistisches Mittel der Aussage einzusetzen. $quot;Der goldene Topf$quot; von E.T.A. Hoffmann ist ein Marchen besonderer Art. Es spielt unmittelhar in der konkreten Gegenvrart and betont den Realitatscharakter dieser Gegenwart durch genaue Zeit- and Ortsangaben; gerade in dieser konkretisierten Gegenwart geschieht das Marchenhafte. In der alltaglichen Wirklichkeit wird somit eine ganz andere Welt sichtbar, namlich die des Wunderbaren and Marchenhaften. In diesem Marchen durchdringen sich nun zwei Welten, die der alltaglichen Wirklichkeit and die des Wunderbaren. Die Wirklichkeitsdarstellung hebt sich zwar von dem ab, was die romantische Theorie postulierte; dennoch bleibt Hoffmann der Romantik verpflichtet. Fur Hoffmann ist die Kunst Vermittlerin des SchtSnen and erlst ihn aus der Pflicht des Alltags. Dazu wird bei Hoffmann der Doppelganger zum Sinnbild der Zweipoligkeit des gesamten Lebens; zwei objektive Welten stehen einander gegeniiber als die Welt der Sehnsucht nach dem Irrationalen and als die Welt des Rationalen, dies bedenkt den Gegensatz von Phantasie and Wirklichkeit. Der inhaltliche Sinn seiner Dichtung ist die Beziehung zwischen Ideal and Wirklichkeit and die Frage nach einer mglichen Vereinigung der scheinbaren Gegensatze von Realitat and Irrealitat.

This study has been performed to investigate the changes in blood hematological concentration on Iron supplementation for 8 weeks of the elite long distance runners during summer training season. Thirteen elite long distance runners participated in the study. The mean age of the subjects was 21.23±1.09 years old. Mean height was 176.15±1.32 cm and mean weight was 62.96±1.03 kg. The mean Hb, RBC, WBC, MCH, MCHC concentrations were significantly increased after supplementation for 8 weeks. Meanwhile, rest heart rate was significantly decreased, and maximal oxygen consumption(VO2max) was significantly increased after supplementation. Therefore, it has an useful effect on the blood hematological concentration, which plays an important role in the rest heart rate, the maximum oxygen consumption, and the exercise performance capacity. Hence, this impact has a positive influence on the exercise performance capacity during training. In addition, the analysis of related causes about gastrointestinal bleeding , which is caused by running and anemia from the lack of iron, which is caused from the shocks on feet are required for long distance runners. These long distance runners have more possibility of danger occurrence on gastrointestinal bleeding and ...anemia. Also, studies about nutrition intake conditions and clinical examinations for runners are required regularly and continuously.

The Chios Gum Mastic Influence on the Inhibition of Intraoral Microorganisms Proliferation

Objective: A series of experiments were performed to evaluate the inhibition effect of mastic for proliferation of intraoral microorganism, identified as the origin of dental caries and periodontal disease. Materials and Methods: Bacterial incubation culture plate containing mastic (each plate was partitioned off several portions and each portion had different concentration of mastic) were prepared. Intraoral microorganism, identified as the origin of dental caries and periodontal disease were inoculated to the plates. After culturing them during 48-72 hours at 37oC, It was evaluated whether strains were proliferated or not. Results: MIC/MBC of Streptococcus mutans, strong cariogenic bacteria were 8/32 mg/mL and both MIC and MBC of S. Sobrinus, regarded as considerable strong cariogenic bacteria were 8 mg/mL. MIC/MBC of Lactobacillus casei were 8/32 mg/mL. MIC/MBC of S. mitis and S. oralis were 1 mg/mL and 2 mg/mL. MIC/MBC of S. sanguis were 4/8 mg/mL. MIC/MBC of S. salivarius were 4/8 mg/mL. Results of anaerobic bacteria, cause periodontitis are as follow. MIC/MBC of Porphyromonas gingivalis were 4/8 mg/mL, both MIC and MBC of Fusobacterium nucleatum were 32 mg/mL. MIC/MBC of Porphyromonas endocarditis were 16/32 mg/mL. Both MIC and MBC of Actinobacillus actinomycetemcomitans were 8 mg/mL. Both MIC and MBC of Actinomyces naeslundii were 32 mg/mL. MIC/MBC of Actinomyces dontolyticus were 8/16 mg/mL. Conclusion: According to the results of our experiments, it can be suggested that mastic have the inhibition effect on proliferation of intraoral microorganism, identified as the origin of dental caries and periodontal disease.

중거리 주자의 바운딩 지속능력 분석

바운딩은 보통 주동작에서 스트라이드를 뻗듯이 과장된 도약운동으로, 육상경기 도약선수의 전문적 체력 트레이닝 수단 중 하나일 뿐 아니라 단거리 달리기를 위한 근력향상이나 스트라이드 혹은 피치 증대를 목표로 한 보조운동으로 이용되고 있으나 중거리 선수를 대상으로 한 바운딩에 관한 연구는 드문 실정이다.따라서 본 연구에서는 중거리 주자에게 200m 바운딩을 가능한 빨리 실시하게 하여 촬영한 VTR 화면에서 속도, 스트라이드 및 피치의 변화를 분석하여 중거리 주자의 바운딩 지속능력을 검토하여 경기력 향상에 적용할 수 있는 자료를 제공하고자 하였다.본 연구의 대상자는 서울특별시에 소재하고 있는 K대학교 육상선수 중 중거리종목을 전문으로 하는 남자 9명을 선정하여 분석한 결과, 다음과 같은 결론을 얻었다.1. 200m 바운딩에서 속도 및 스트라이드는 감소하였으나 피치는 증대하였다.2. 800m 최고기록이 좋을수록 속도 및 스트라이드가 유지되는 경향이 나타났다.3. 가장 800m 최고기록이 좋은 피험자는 스트라이드가 시작부터 끝까지 크게 유지되었다.이상과 같이 중거리 달리기 성과가 높은 피험자는 바운딩 지속능력을 가지고 있는 것으로 나타나, 바운딩 지속능력을 높이는 것은 중거리 달리기 성과를 높이는데 도움이 되는 것으로 분석되었다. 나아가 200m 바운딩을 중거리 주자의 필드테스트로서 이용할 수 있을 것으로 사료되었다.
