핀-핑거형 터빈 동익 루트의 사각 초음파탐상에서의 기하신호가 해석된다. 동익루트의 기하가 설명되고, 기하신호가 형성되기 위한 반사조건들이 제시된다. 그리고, 이 기하신호의 빔경로에 관한 일반식들이 유도되고 검증된다. 이 기하신호는 리가먼트 모서리 신호이며, 그 위치와 진폭은 핀홀과 리가먼트의 크기 및 탐촉자의 빔지향 특성으로부터 결정될 수 있다는 것이 보여진다. Interpreted is the geometric signal in the angle beam ultrasonic testing for the pin-finger type of turbine blade roots. The geometry of the blade roots is described and the reflection conditions for appearance of the geometric signal are proposed. The general equation for its beam path is derived and verified. As the results, it is found that the geometric signal is the back reflection from the ligament edge, and its position and amplitude can be determined from the dimension of blade root and the beam directivity of transducer.

Stress analysis has been performed using computer program ANSYS in the pressurizer surge line in accordance with ASME Sec. Ⅲ in order to predict possibility of fatigue failure due to thermal stratification phenomena in pipes connected to reactor coolant system of nuclear power plants. Highly vulnerable area to crack generation has been chosen by the analysis of fatigue due to thermal stress in pressurizer surge line. This kind of result can be helpful to choose the location requiring intensive care during inservice inspection of nuclear power plants.

The importance and role of preservice and inservice inspection(PSI/ISI) for nuclear power plant components are intimately related to plant design, safety, reliability and operation etc.. The Korea Atomic Energy Research Institute(KAERI) has been performing PSI/ISI in Korea since the PSI of Kori nuclear power plant, unit 1 had been performed in 1977. KAERI has localized PSI/ISI technology and has done much experience in ultrasonic flaw detection, evaluation and its excavation on the weldments of large pressure vessels. The results of flaw estimation using ultrasonic examination are compared with the actual flaw sizes revealed by field excavation. KAERI's experience regarding PSI/ISI was described and some discussions were added.
선추적기법을 활용한 오스테나이트계 스텐레스강 용접부 초음파탐상 모의

원자력 발전소의 주요 계통 재료로 사용되는 오스테나이트계 스텐레스강에 대한 초음파탐상은 초음파 에너지가 전파될 경우 재질 자체가 갖는 여러 문제점으로 인하여 결함 위치나 크기 측정에 많은 문제점을 야기한다. 본 연구에서는 이러한 문제점을 이해하기 위하여 여러가지 경우를 가정하여 선 추적(ray tracing) 기법을 사용한 컴퓨터 모의(simulation)를 실시하였다. 우선 종파를 사용하여 모재에 초음파가 입사하여 진행할 시 어느정도의 휘어짐이 발생하는지를 계산하였으며 재질 특성상 용접부와 모재가 큰 차이를 보이지 않는 경우와 원자로 노즐 부위와 같이 서로 다른 금속으로 용접된 경우에 결함이 존재한 경우를 가정하여 계산하였다. Crack detection technique by ultrasonics in structures and components made of austenitic stainless steel often loses its reliability due to the material characteristics during inservice inspection of nuclear power plants, expecially in the area of detection and sizing in centrifugally cast stainless steel pipings. In order to understand and overcome this problem, computer program for tracing the ultrasonic rays within material has been developed to simulate the process of defect detection within weld. The program simulates through transmission and reflection technique in crack detection of austenitic stainless steel as well as ultrasonic beam propagation through multiple media including stainless steel cladding interface.
원심 주조 스텐레스 강에서의 이론적 모델을 통한 Beam Skewing 영향 고찰

Centrifugally Cast Stainless Steel generally shows similar structure to the weld in austenitic stainless steel in the point of casting. When examining this material ultrasonically, the beam does not generally propagate straightforward but rather deviates from its original direction and this phenomenon called skewing is originally caused by anisotropic material. In order to calculate the beam skewing effect theoretically, work has been performed based on a model approach which has regarded material itself as having been composed of multi-layered columnar dendrite structure and the result was compared with the one from experiment. The result from both theory and experiment showed good correlation and ultrasonic beam showed the least skewing with around 45 degree incident angle.
