This paper presents an algorithm to detect vehicles on roads and to measure inter-vehicle distance. Hypothesis generation and verification are the bases of the algorithm. The hypothesis generation is composed of 1) transformation of a pair of perspective stereo images into a pair of virtual stereo top-view images; 2) construction of polar accumulation functions (PAFs) for the stereo top-view images; and 3) stereo matching of PAFs by dynamic programming. The verification is comprised of 1) temporal matching of PAFs by dynamic programming and 2) verifying the potential positions of ob-jects. Through multiple experiments in various environments, the proposed algorithm has been proven to be effective in detecting vehicles on roads and for measuring inter-vehicle distance.
Estimation of Longitudinal Profile of Road Surface from Stereo Disparity using Dijkstra Algorithm

A novel algorithm capable of estimating the profile of the road surface along the camera-viewing direction is proposed. When a disparity map from stereo matching is given, the algorithm estimates the profile precisely by applying the Dijkstra algorithm to a v-disparity representation. Although the road surface is very changeable, many algorithms of road scene analysis have relied on flat-road assumption or have estimated the profile roughly. The combination of the Dijkstra algorithm and a v-disparity representation contributes to eliminating such assumption and limit. We demonstrated the validity of the proposed algorithm by performing experiments with many road images.

In Korea a successful Adverse Possessor cannot be a owner without registering his right to Land Recording even though he possessed the land during the requisite time period with required qualities of the Adverse Possession. That is caused by particularity of Korean Civil Code §245.Ⅰ. referring to “acquire rear property by registering his title to Land Recording". Such Statutes dealing with Adverse Possession is a rare legal system in a view of comparative law. Korean Civil Code §245.Ⅰ is derived from Roman Law, called ‘Usucapion' like other European Laws, but it was modified and designed subtly by the legislator, the Chief Justice of Korean Supreme Court Byungro Kim. Because of the uncertainty of Korean Civil Code §245.Ⅰ, so many problems of law and dispute are occurring and precedents come into conflict with each cases in some aspects. Therefore many scholars and lawyers are try to explain that problems logically and clearly. Some of them and Korean Supreme Court agreed to a conclusion that Adverse Possessor cannot be a owner without registering because of the Korean Civil Code §245.Ⅰ. But I think that interpretation of §245.Ⅰ. is not correct and is not a appropriate way to regulate privity. Historically and substantially the Adverse Possession is irrelevantly developed and creates a new and complete title in the possessor by itself. And the Adverse Possession does not transfer the former owner's title to the present possessor. So, if the possession has satisfied those elements like 20 years duration of time, open and notorious and etc. but registering, it would be better to interpret that the Adverse Possessor should become a owner in spite of the legislative restriction. In my opinion, that will be a succinct legal theory to solve the confused problems of Adverse Possession and to reach reasonable consequences.

신호처리의 많은 분야에서, 심하게 비가우시안 성질을 가지는 분포, 혹은 분포의 중간은 가우시안 특성을 가지지만 양 끝에서는 편차가 크게 나는 분포를 다루어야 하는 경우가 종종 있다. 이러한 편차에 효과적으로 대처하기 위하여 본 논문에서는 음성 신호의 여기 신호로서 혼합 분포(mixture distribution)을 고려한다. 이것은 음성 분석시 피치 주파수가 미치는 영향을 감소시키며, 배경 잡음을 제거하는 데에도 효과적이다. 음성 신호 파라미터의 추정 및 향상을 위하여 EM 알고리즘을 사용하묘, 향상 과정에서는 강인 칼만 필터링 기법을, 파라미터 추정 관정에서는 검출/추정 기법을 사용한다. 실험 결과, 본 논문에서 제안하는 알고리즘이 입력 신호대잡음비가 열악한 경우에 기존의 것보다 우수한 성능을 보인다. In many applications of signal processing, we have to deal with densities which are highly non-Gaussian or which may have Gaussian shape in the middle but have potent deviations in the tails. To fight against these deviations, we consider a finite mixture distribution for the speech excitation. We utilize the EM algorithm for the estimation of speech parameters and their enhancement. Robust Kalman filtering is used in the enhancement process, and a detection/estimation technique is used for parameter estimation. Experimental results show that the proposed algorithm performs better in adverse SNR input conditions.

The recent emergence of Staphylococcus schleiferi in dogs with otitis externa or skin and soft tissue infections has become a signifi ant zoonotic issues. In the current study, we investigated 1)the carriage rates of S. schleiferi among major staphylococci in healthy dogs and dogs with otitis externa, 2) antibiotic susceptibility profi of S. schleiferi, particularly methicillin resistance (MR), and 3) virulence factors associated with skin and soft tissue infections such as abilityto form biofi resistance to cationic antimicrobial peptides (CAMPs), and carriage of staphylococcal enterotoxin genes. Among the 21 S. schleiferi isolates, 5 isolates (24%) were determined to be methicillin-resistant (MRSS). Staphylococcal cassette chromosome mec (SCCmec) typing revealed the presence of SCCmec type V in 4 MRSS isolates and type VII in one MRSS. Higher levels of antibiotic resistance, especially multidrug resistance, were observed in MRSS isolates compared to the methicillin-susceptible S. schleiferi (MSSS) isolates. In addition, MRSS isolates exhibited enhanced ability to form biofi under static condition and all the5 MRSS isolates carried three or more enterotoxin genes. However, there were no signifi ant differences in resistance to CAMPs between MRSS and MSSS isolates. These fi gs suggest that coagulase-negative S. schleiferi is becoming more prevalent in canine otitis externa cases. Our results also highlight the presence of multidrug-resistant MRSS isolates with enhanced biofi production and carriage of multiple enterotoxins.

The increase in canine skin and soft tissue infections, such as pyoderma and otitis, caused by Staphylococcus schleiferi strains, is of significant zoonotic concern. In this study, we report the first complete genome sequence for a methicillin-resistant clinical isolate of S. schleiferi (MRSS) designated as SS4, obtained from a dog with otitis externa, in Korea. The genome of SS4 strain was of 2,539,409 bp and presented high G+C content ratio (35.90%) with no plasmid. Comparative analysis of SS4 genome revealed that it is closely related to 2142-05 and 5909-02 strains isolated from the canine skin infections in the USA.
