This paper is to investigate noise source for reciprocating type air compressors. The reciprocating type air compressors are widely used in the small and medium sized enterprise and many employees are affected and irritated by their noise during working. The investigation and analysis of the noise source were made according to the ISO 1680/1 and MIL-STD 7410-1 and noise evaluation of each part of compressors was made. Noise emitted from the intake and exhaust valve and the air receiver tank were dominant compared with those from other parts of compressor. Noise from the motor and the revolution of crank mechanism was negligible relatively with the noise sources as mentioned above.

This study was carried out in order to find out the relationship between physical and chemical properties of silk fiber treated by concentrated calcium nitrate solution. The tensile, thermal and dynamic mechanical properties are also examined on Ca(NO3) 2, treated silk fibers. The tensile properties of silk fibers treated by calcium nitrate changed with a concentration. The thermal behavior were also affected by the concentration of calcium nitrate. The degradation temperature(endotherms) and glass transition temperature shifted to lower temperature as the treated concentration increased. It is thought that the physical properties are strongly related to the structure and morphology of Ca(NO3)2, treated silk fibers. As a result, these give property changes with a concentration dependence.

This report deals with the mechanical properties when the friction welding between Al and Cu. Main results obtained are as follows; 1) With welding conditions of 2.6sec heating time, the tensile strength of weld interface was reached at that of Al base metal by 75% 2) The hardness of weld interface is considerably higher than hardness of Al base metal and top hardness of radial direction is at half position of periphery. 3) The structure of the joint was transformed as a fine structure in HAZ of meterials and the finest structure like band by high pressure and plastic deformation in weld interface adjacent to Cu.
