        In our experiments we made use of male and female Swiss albino rats weighing about 60gm each for the sake of investigating the duodenal goblet cells which mostly bring about secretory work. The mice fed on three unbalanced diets consisting mostly of carbohydrate, protein and fat were the chief objects of study. on the 20th day after feeding, and after one or three-day fasting, Specimens were taken from the upper, middle and lower portions of the duodenum. tne specimens were fixed in 10% formalin and made into paraffin sections of 5μ and stainings were done with Hematoxylin-eosin. all of the goblet cells in each 20 crypts and villi, baths of which were cut in the axial directions were counted and averaged numbers were considered as total relative number of one animal. The results were gained as follows: 1. The relative number of the goblet cells in the duodenum of the mice fed 'on normal food averaged 22.5. these cells were found more in the villi than in the crypts. 2. The relative number of the goblet cells in the mice fed on fat was larger than the normal value, and was tne largest in the three groups fed on unbalanced diets. 3. The protein diet group was the smallest value among three groups. 4. The group's goblet cells fasting 1-day increased a little in number relative to the normal. 5. The group's goblet cells fasting 3-days increased the most in number of all groups.

      • 豚과 韓國人의 奇靜脈에 關한 比較解剖學的 硏究

        The authors studied on the comparative anatomical classification of the azygos veins in pig and Korean adults. The used materials were 78 pigs and Korean cadavers. The racial freqency and the various types of the azygos veins were recorded as followings. 1. TypeⅠcomprised 84.62% and type Ⅱ comprised 15.38% in pig. 2. The racial frequency of the hemiazygosveins comprised in Berkshire 26.9%, Hampshire 10.24%, Yorkshire 6.41%, Landrace 5.12% and in hybrid 35.8%. The racial frequency of the azygos veins compreised in Berkshire 5.12%, Hampshire 0.0%, Landrace 0.0% and in hybrid 10.25%. 3. TypeⅠcomprised 79.17%, type Ⅱ 12.5% and type Ⅲ 8.33% in the Korian radical frequency. 4. It was certifed that the azygos veins and hemiazygos veins were formed by the development of the postcardinal veins and the homologous development in phylogeny was presumed.

        수은으로 중독된 흰쥐의 간독성에 대한 키토산의 효과

        This study aims demonstrate the effect of chitosan, one of the natural chelator, on the ultrastructural changes in the mouse liver caused by $HgCl_2$. The experimental group was divided in two groups; group A and group B. The group A administrated $HgCl_2$ (5.0 mg/kg) to the oral. The group B treated with $HgCl_2$ (5.0 mg/kg) and chitosan (3%) solution, 2 times/day). Each group was observed 24, 48, 72 and 96 hours after treated $HgCl_2$ and chitosan. Histological changes of the livers were investigated by electron microscope. 1. Croup A Nuclear membrane was shrinked. The inner and outer membrane of the mitochondria were dilated. Destruction of lamellae of rough endoplasmic reticulum showed. Smooth endoplasmic reticulum showed over cytoplasm. 2. Group B Nuclear membrane was more rounded, The cristae of the mitochondria were almost normal shape and electron-density showed compacted. Dilation of inner cavity of rough endoplasmic reticulum showed at the pre-time but formed typical lamellae at the 48Hrs. Smooth endoplasmic reticulum showed over cytoplasm. Therefore, we concluded that chitosan has significantly protective effects in liver to harmful $HgCl_2$.

      • 까치 살모사(Agkistrodon saxutilis)의 혈액학적 성상과 위장관 점막세포의 조직화학적 연구

        까치 살모사(AEkistrodon snatilis)의 활동기와 동면기에서 일반적인 혈액성상과 혈액내 가스함량의 변화 또한 위장관 점액세포에 대한 형태적 및 조직화학적 변화 양상을 규명 비교하고자 한다 활동기와 동면기에 까치 살모사의 혈액내 총이산화탄소량(TCO2). 이산화탄소부분압(PCO2), 산소압(PO2)과 pH는 활동기보다 동면기에 증가하였으며, 적혈구수, 혈색소, 적혈구 용적 백분율은 활동기보다 동면기에 약간 증가하는 경향이었다. 또한 백혈구수는 활동기보다 동면기에 뚜렷한 감소를 보였다 활동기와 동면기의 위점막에서는 현저한 차이는 없으나, 소장 점막은 동면기에 그 주름수가 감소하고 높이가 낮아지며 점액세포가 위축되었으며, 위 표면 점액세포는 활동기에 중성 점액질과 약간의 Sialomucin을 포함한 산성 점액질로 구성되었으나 동면기에는 중성 점액질과 Sialomucin이 약간 감소하였다 위점액경세포는 활동기에 중성 점액질만을 포함하고 있었으나. 동면기에는Sialomucin을 포함한 산성 점액질이 소량 검출되었다 소장 점액세포는 활동기에 산성점액질과 중성 점액질로 구성되었으며. 산성 점액질에는 Sulfomucin과 Sialomucirr이 포함되어 있었으나 동면기에는 Sulfomucin과 Sialomucin이 다소 감소하는 경향이었다 주사전자현미경 관찰을 통한 까치 살모사의 위장관 표면 상피세포의 미세구조적 변화는 각동면기 별로 차이를 인정할 수가 있었다. 위장관점 막 상피세포는 활동기에 비해 동면기에 상당한 구조적 위축현상을 보이는 경향을 알 수 있다.

      • X-線照射를 받은 흰쥐의 皮膚 肥滿細胞에 Vitamin E가 미치는 影響

        This experiment was carried out with Vitamin E to study the skip mast cells of rats which were irradiated by 600R X-ray on the whole body. Healthy and inbred rats were used, divided into controlled group and irradiated group respectively and so the following results were obtained. 1. Relative emergence numbers from the skin mast cells of the controlled group were 35.3±3.7, the most of then cousises of the rich granular type, showing a strong metac-hromatic reaction 2. Disposing of Vitamin E beforehand, a day after irradiating X-ray made profoundly move on the skin mast cells, appeared irregualr during, disappearance of granule and cellular breakage. 3. Disposing of Vitamin E beforehand, a week after irrdiating X-ray made the cell number, chromatin and disappearance recevered. 4. Vitamimin E phaved a protective role against the harm by means of X-ray irradiation on the skin mast cells.

        We investigated ultrastuctural change of small intestinal mucosal epithelial cell, columnar cell and mucous cell, of hibernating ground squirrel during activating and hibernating stages. In active columnar cells, many mitochondria and rough endoplasmic reticulum were observed. In hibernating columnar cells, more free nhosome than rough endoplasmic reticulum were observed. In active mucous cells, large and many mucosal granules, mitochondria and rough endoplasmic reticulum were observed. Mucosal granules have been secreted excellently. In hibernating mucous cells, small and little mucosal granules and many free ribosome were observed.

      • 동면 동물의 혈액상에 관한 연구

        동면 상태에서 혈액성분의 생화학적 변화치를 조사하고자 전남 각지에 서식 또는 광주직할시 근교에서 양식하고 있는 뱀장어, 개구리, 살모사 그리고 다람쥐를 활동기(7월∼8월), 잠입기(10월∼11월), 동진기(12월∼1월) 및 각려기(3월∼4월)에 채집하였다. 이들 동물들의 혈청에서 Total protein, Albumin, Globulin, A/G ratio, Glucose, Calcium, Urea함유량을 조사하여 얻은 성적을 비교 검토하여 다음과 같은 결론을 얻었다. 1 . Total protein의 변화는 각 동물사이에서 상당한 차이를 보이되 잠입기에 다소 증가하였다. 특히 다람쥐에서 Total protein 함유량이 다른 동물들 보다 많았다. Albumin함유량은 잠입기에 상승하였고 동면기에는 약간의 감소를 보이다가 각성기에는 현저한 감소를 보였다. gloulin함유량은 잠입기에 상당히 상승하고 동면기에 약간의 감소를 나타내었으며 각성기 인 봄철에는 많은 증가 현상을 보였다. 2. 혈청 Urea의 함유량은 동면의 각과정에 따라 상당한 차이가 있었다. 즉 잠입기에 약간 상승하고 동면기에는 저하를 보였으며 각성기에는 전 실험동물에서 검출되지 않았다. 3. 혈당의 변화는 잠입기에 대체로 저하하고 동면기에는 심한 저혈당 수준에 이르렀다. 각성기인 봄철에는 다람쥐를 제외하고는 동면기의 혈희량과 유사하였다. 4. 혈청 Calcium함유량의 변화는 활동기에 비하여 잠입기에는 상당한 증가현상을 보였으나동면기에는 전 실험동물이 거의 같은 수준으로 감소를 보이며 각성기에 까지 감소하였다. In order to the biochemical change of the serological components of hibernating animals, eels(hnguillo joponica Temminck et Schlegel), frogs (Rana nigromacurata Hallowell), snakes (Agkistro-don holds breuicaudus Stejneserl, squirrels (Tamias striatus Linnaeus) which were collected around Gwangiu city and the Chunnam area were observed in accordance with the phases of hibernation. The author described the hibernating cycle as active (June-July), prehibematins(October-Novemberl, hibernating (December-January) and posthibemating phase (March-Aprill. The values of total protein, albumin, globulin, hJG ratlo, calcium, glucose and urea were chiefly investigated in their serum. The results are as following: Total protein was shown to be consider-able in eels, frogs, snakes, squirrels and increased in prehibemation. Especially, the mean value was high in sqirrels. Albumin values was increased during prehibemation. But a little decrease was shown during hibernating and an outstanding decrease during posthibemation. The globulin value increased considerably during prehlbemation but decreased a little during hibernation phase. Changes of urea were shown to be considerable according to the stage of each hibem3-tion. A little increase was shown during prehibemation and decrease during hibernating stage. but urea was not found in posthibemation in any experimental animals. The glucose value was generally decreased during prehibematlon. An extremely little increase in glucose was shown during hibernation (hypoglycemia). All hibernating values except those for squirrels in spring posthibemating phase were at almost the same level. The calcium value was shown to be considerable during prehibemation in comparison with active phase. The same level of decrease was represented in all kinds of animals and continued at the stage of posthibemation.
