For the comparison of heat transfer performance of micro methanol fuel processor, numerical analysis using FLUENT code was carried out. Channel shape and condition which enhance the heat transfer performance according to the channel conditions were obtained. Computational results show that wide channel configuration is more effective in heat transfer than narrow channel in condition of same sectional area. And increase of channel number increase the heat transfer rate but also the pressure drop is increased.

High pressure injection is recently used to reduce the emissions and increase power of DI diesel engine. This high pressure injection makes the spray strike the cylinder wall. And this wall/spray impingement is known to affect the emission and performance of DI diesel engine such that it is very important to know the wall/spray impingement process. In this paper, multidimensional computer program KIVA-II was used to clarify the effect of spray wall impingement by different injection spray angle with the wall/spray impingement model with rebounding, sliding and the improved submodel for liquid breakup, drop distortion model.<br/>
고온고압상태에서 분할분사방법에 의한 배기가스 특성에 관한 수치해석적 연구

It is well known that the split-injection scheme is very effective to reduce the NOx and Soot. So the NOx and Soot trade-off curves of a diesel engine can be shifted closer to the origin than those with the conventional single-injection. In this paper. in order to understand the fundamental emission reduction mechanism by split-injection, numerical analysis was carried out for high-temperature and high-pressure environment with split-injection. A multidimensional computer program KIVA-II²^) was used with sub-models to predict the physical phenomena well.<br/>

In this study, introduce about processing method of microchannel in fuel processor. For the comparison of heat transfer performance of methanol evaporator, numerical analysis using FLUENT code was carried out. Channel shape and condition which could determine the heat transfer performance according to the channel conditions were obtained. For channel forming, besides the conventional etching method, mechanical machining methods of end milling and powder blasting was introduced. It was shown that end mining could reduce machining error remarkably and surface treatment by powder blasting could improve the performance of catalyst coating.

In the quantitative analysis of oxygenated exhaust emissions (unburned methanol, formaldehyde) from methanol fueled vehicles, the oxygen contained in oxygenated exhaust gases lowers the FID (Flame Ionization Detector) response factor of conventional THC analyzer and leads to erroneous HC reading.<br/> For correct measurement of various HCs including oxygenated HCs emitted from FFV (Flexible Fuel Vehicle), first of all, the measurement technique Of real HC emissions should be established.<br/> GC and HPLC-DNPH measuring methods specified by the EPA are used in this paper to analyze unburned methanol and formaldehyde components in the exhaust emissions.<br/> In emission test of FFV, unburned methanol and formaldehyde are emitted mostly during cold transient period, and it is shown that formaldehyde emission level is proportional to engine displacements.<br/> In view of the HC emission level, vehicle using M85 has 40% advantage over gasoline-fueled vehicle in OMHCE and has a good potential of a low emission vehicle.
