This paper presents unequal error protection and error concealment techniques far robust H.263 video transmission over mobile channels. The proposed error protection scheme has three major features. First, it has the capability of preventing the loss of synchronization information in H.263 video stream as much as possible that the H.263 decoder can resynchronize at the next decoding point, if errors are occurred. Secondly, it employs an unequal error protection scheme to support variable coding rates using rate compatible punctured convolutional (RCPC) codes, dividing the encoded stream into two classes. Finally, a macroblock-interleaving scheme is employed in order to minimize the corruption of consecutive macroblocks due to burst errors, which can make a proper condition for error concealment. In addition, to minimize the spatial error propagations due to the variable length codes, a fast resynchronization scheme at the group of block layer is developed for recovering subsequent error-free macroblocks following the damaged macroblock. futhermore, error concealment techniques based on both side match criterion and overlapped block motion compensation (OBMC) are employed at the source decoder so that it can not only recover the lost macroblock more accurately, but also reduce blocking artifacts. Experimental results show that the proposed scheme can be an effective error protection scheme since proper video quality can be maintained under various channel bit error rates.

Tetrahydrobiopterin (BH4) is an essential cofactor in NO synthesis by endothelial nitricoxide synthase (eNOS) enzymes. It has been previously suggested that reduced intrahepaticBH4 results in a decrease in intrahepatic NO and contributes to increased hepatic vascularresistance and portal pressure in animal models of cirrhosis. The main aim of the presentstudy was to evaluate the relationship between BH4 and portal hypertension (PHT). Onehundred ninety-three consecutive patients with chronic liver disease were included in thestudy. Liver biopsy, measurement of BH4 and hepatic venous pressure gradient (HVPG)were performed. Hepatic fibrosis was classified using the Laennec fibrosis scoring system. BH4 levels were determined in homogenized liver tissues of patients using a highperformance liquid chromatography (HPLC) system. Statistical analysis was performed toevaluate the relationship between BH4 and HVPG, grade of hepatic fibrosis, clinical stageof cirrhosis, Child-Pugh class. A positive relationship between HVPG and hepatic fibrosisgrade, clinical stage of cirrhosis and Child-Pugh class was observed. However, the BH4level showed no significant correlation with HVPG or clinical features of cirrhosis. BH4concentration in liver tissue has little relation to the severity of portal hypertension inpatients with chronic liver disease.

탄소섬유튜브로 횡구속된 각형 콘크리트 기둥의 압축강도 성능에 관한 연구

탄소섬유튜브는 기존의 콘크리트 기둥에 강도와 연성을 제공하여 길이방향 및 횡방향 철근을 대신할 수 있다. 본 연구에서는 탄소섬유튜브에 의해 구속된 각형 콘크리트의 축하중에 대한 실험 및 해석적 연구를 수행하였다. 탄소섬유튜브는 길이방향에 대하여 90^{\circ}\pm30^{\circ}, 90^{\circ}\pm45^{\circ}로 섬유의 방향을 조합하여 필라멘트 와인딩 방법으로 제작하였다. 10,000kN UTM을 이용하여 단조축하중을 재하하였다. 섬유의 방향, 튜브의 두께에 따른 횡구속된 콘크리트 기둥의 응력-변형률 관계를 고찰하였다. 탄소섬유튜브에 의해 횡구속된 콘크리트의 압축강도와 연성을 예측하기 위하여 제안된 실험식은 실험결과를 적절히 예측하는 것으로 나타났다. The carbon composite tube can play an important role in replacing or complementing longitudinal and transverse reinforcing steels by providing ductility and strength for conventional columns. In this study, both the experimental and analytical investigations of axial behavior of large-scale square concrete columns confined by carbon composite tube are presented. The specimens are filament-wound carbon composite with 90^{\circ}+30^{\circ}, 90^{\circ}+45^{\circ} winding angle respect to longitudinal axis of tube. The instrumented large-scale concrete-filled composite tubes(CFCT) are subjected to monotonic axial loads exerted by 10,000kN UTM. The influence of winding angle, thickness of tube on stress-strain relationships of the confined columns is identified and discussed. Proposed equations to predict both the strength and ductility of confined columns by carbon composite tube demonstrate good correlation with test data obtained from large-scale specimens.
