        There are not enough parking areas in neighbourhood units of residential areas formed before Implementation of Land Readjustment Projects in Seoul. So most of parking lots in these neighbourhood units are on streets. Street parking deteriorates functions of street and living space. The purpose of this study is as follows. Firstly, the meaning of Transportation Improvement for Neighbourhood Units will be examined in order to set up the fundamental concept of it. Second is development of major strategies for safe and pleasant transportation environment in neighbourhood units. Third is establishment of propulsion procedure and implementation plan of Transportation Improvement Projects for Neighbourhood Units. This study examines a way to change parking system from street parking and illegal parking to off-street parking. Moreover, the system integrated with building and street space reserved by changing from street parking and illegal parking to off-street parking is established. The conclusions of this study are as follows. The first consideration should be the process of switching from street parking system in residential areas to off-street parking system. Transportation Improvement Projects for Neighbourhood Units should be integrated with transportation, architecture and urban design instead of the improvement of transportation function. Resident participation is essential. In order to get agreement process, loan and subsidy should be invigorated from Special Account of Parking. The integrated system for the project is indispensable to accomplish Transportation Improvement Projects for Neighbourhood Units. It would be an alternative for Newtown at a standstill that the district retracted from Newtown as a site is selected.

      • 공유주차를 통한 근린생활 건축물 부설주차장 활성화 방안

        There are not enough parking lots in neighboring commercial areas of Seoul. So Illegal parking is often seen on the streets of neighboring commercial areas. When the building is constructed, parking lot attached to the building must be constructed in Korea. However most of parking lots attached to buildings in neighboring commercial areas are often abandoned. Moreover, the purpose of their use or the purpose of use of them are often changed illegally. The purpose of this study is as follows. Firstly, characteristics and behavior of parking are analyzed in neighboring commercial areas. Secondly, the problems related to parking lot attached to the building are recognized in these areas. Third is development of major improvement strategies for the parking system annexed to the building in these areas. Fourth is revision of related laws for improvement of parking system annexed to the building. The conclusions of this study are as follows. The clue for solving the problems in neighboring commercial areas is parking sharing. Parking sharing solves imbalance of spatiotemporal parking demand in these areas. To establish the culture of parking sharing, local government must provide special incentive. And appointment of Special District for Parking Management can be considered, to improve parking system annexed to the building. Lastly, to succeed the improvement project for these parking environment, revision of related laws for improvement of parking system annexed to the building is essential. And revision of related laws is monitored continuously.

      • A Study on the Application of Sunlight System Using an Optical fiber

        In recently, interests in the New & Renewable Energy are increasing because of exhaustion of fossil energy and limit of greenhouse gas emission all over the world. Furthermore, improvements in living standards and high-raise Buildings due to the industrial growth require a lot of sunlight in the interior space. Sunlight system gets the natural light into the indoor dark space. There are a lot of type of systems which are reflector type, duct type, optical fibers type and so on. And these systems consist of light-collection module, light-transporting module and light-emitting module. In this research, we installed optical fiber sunlight system in our head office building and tested the system's performance and efficiency. Optical fiber sunlight system is closely connected with hour of sunlight, due to the system have to chase the sun for the solar concentrating, and the system's light-collection and light- transporting efficiency is important factors in the system's performance. As a result of the test, system can be used about 5.66 hours on average in a day, and it has a about 3.21 times collection efficiency and 5.5% transmission loss.
