Troubled Memory of Unresolved History in East Asia

이 논문은 일본에게 공식적인 사과와 피해가족에 대해 적절한 보상을 요구하는 전 일본 위안부 여성 피해자들의 스토리텔링을 살펴봄으로 “진솔한 정치적 사과의 부재”가 어떻게 지난시대의 역사적 과오로 인한 사회적 트라우마를 현 시대를 살고 있는 세대에게 전의하고 있는가를 살펴본다. 사회심리학자 볼칸은 심각한 사회적 트라우마를 경험한 세대가 자신들의 경험을 충분히 애도(mourning)하지 못했을 때 그 트라우마는 사회 가운데 외포될 수밖에 없으며 결국 다음세대로 전의된다고 한다. 볼칸에 선택된 트라우마(chosen trauma) 이론에 의하면, 지난 태평양 전쟁 중 비인도적 전쟁범죄인 종군 위안부 문제를 둘러싼 일본의 미온적 또는 회피적 태도는 사건의 직접적인 피해자나 관계자 사이의 사회적 차원의 분쟁뿐 아니라 국가적 차원으로 현재의 양국관계 개선에도 어려움을 주고 있으며 이는 더더욱 양 사회의 배타적 민족주의 감정으로 인한 한일 관계 화해를 지양하고 있다. 이런 관점에서 이 논문에서는 위안부 여성의 스토리텔링을 주목하고자 한다. This paper focuses the personal narratives of former comfort women, demanding official apology and legal compensation from Japan. While examining the storytelling of the victims, this article focuses on how “the absence of authentic political apology” transfers the social trauma derived from the previous generation’s historical error to the new generation today Volkan(1997) says that such serious social trauma can be passed down to the successive generation if the proper “mourning process” is not allowed. Distorted relationship between Korea and Japan today is rooted in historical conflict closely interconnected with how both states are dealing with the memories of the inhumane atrocities perpetuated by previous generations. Without adequate management of assuming responsibility over the historical injustice inflicted the relationship between involved parties would be continued to in deadlock, preventing genuine reconciliation to take place.

초등영어 학습 부진아 대상 TPRS 기반 영화 만들기(Movie Making) 활동의 효과

This study aims to investigate the effect of TPRS-based movie making activities on English learning underachievers in elementary school and to analyze the effect according to their personality types and the reasons for their underachievement in English learning. For the purpose, four English learning underachievers were selected with different personality types among the students who enrolled in the English club after school. They read four stories for 16 weeks. Observation, a teaching journal, a learner reflection journal, interview, an affective domain questionnaire, listening and vocabulary ability pre- and postassessment data were collected and analyzed. The results of this study are as follows: First, the TPRS-based movie making activities had a positive effect on the affective domain (interest, participation, and confidence) of all the English learning underachievers in this study regardless of their underachievement reasons and personality types. Second, the TPRS-based movie making activities improved the underachievers’ ability of listening and vocabulary knowledge. It had a positive influence on the learners’ easy and fun way of memorizing words. Finally, it is suggested to develop various story materials for the level to each grade, which is easy to apply TPRS-based movie making activities. Important implications regarding teaching English underachievers are discussed.
