This paper is concerned with a crash analysis for vehicle parts considering the farming effect. The output data from the farming simulation is used as initial material properties for crash simulation of vehicle parts. The plastic strain and thickness distribution from the forming simulation results are mapped onto parts in the crash model. Numerical simulation is carried out with LS-DYNA3D for both forming and crash simulations. The effect of work<br/> hardening and thickness on the crashworthiness is evaluated. It is fully demonstrated that the crashworthiness of vehicle parts is seen to be significantly affected when the forming effects are included.<br/> <br/>

The study on the characteristics of shell element is performed for the simulation of vehicle crashworthiness. The improved shell elements are considered for warped configuration. Full forntal and offset crash analysis is carried out to estimate the performance of the shell element. The analysis results show the more accurate results can be obtained with the improved shell elements.

Adoption of various air-bag is new trend in motor industry. Especially in frontal impact case, there are many excellent analysis tools and researches. But in other cases it is difficult to find out efficient method for analysis. This paper uses finite element analysis for side impact with side air-bag. Generally passenger's behavior analyses in impact are done by dynamic analysis tools(for example, Madymo) and BIW analyses are done by FE analysis tools Doing both of analyses by FE tools gives more flexible methods which are easily changed for any other kinds of airbag application. This paper tries integrated FE analysis for SINCAP mode that includes, US DOT SID model, passenger car model, and head & thorax air-bag model. It will be easily changed for any other air-bag analyses.<br/>
