        Sensor-based Technology for Assessing Drought Stress in Two Warm-Season Turfgrasses

        본 연구는 토양 수분함량을 즉시 파악할 수 있는 Time Domain Radiometer(TDR) 과 식물의 광합성 시 잎에서 반사되는 Reflectance를 통하여 식물의 상태를 파악할 수 있는 Multi-spectral radiometer(MSR)를 사용하여 난지형 잔디인 ‘Sea Isle 1' Seashore paspalum 과 ‘Floratam' St. Augustinegrass를 대상으로 토양수분함량과 Reflectance와의 상관관계를 파악하고자 시작하였다. 본 연구를 통해 토양 수분함량이 660, 694 wavelengths와 NDVI, LAI, stress index에서 높은 상관관계를 가지고 있음을 알 수 있었다. 이는 Sensor-based technology가 잔디의 수분요구 시점을 미리 파악할 수 있는 기술의 기초 자료로서 활용될 수 있으며 여러 다른 Sensor-based technology를 이용한 연구로 확대될 수 있을 것이다. This study was designed to determine what sensor based technologies might reliably and accurately predict irrigation scheduling needs of warm season turfgrass. ‘Floratam’ St. Augustinegrass[Stenotaphrum secundatum(Walt.) Kuntze] and ‘Sea Isle I’ seashore paspalum(Paspalum vaginatum Swartz) were established in tubs in the Envirotron Turfgrass Research Laboratory in Gainesville, FL in the spring of 2002. Each grass was subjected to repeated dry down cycles where irrigation was withheld. Sensor based data were collected and these evaluations were used to determine if irrigation scheduling could be determined based on plant response during dry down. Results indicated that reflectance indices(P≤ 0.001) and soil moisture(P≤ 0.0001) throughout the dry down cycle can predict the need for irrigation scheduling as turf quality declined below acceptable levels.

        In this paper, an adaptive illumination change compensation method is proposed for multi-view video coding. In multi-view video, an illumination change can occur due to physically imperfect camera calibration, each different camera position and direction, and so on. These characteristics can cause a performance decrease in the multi-view video coding that uses an inter-view prediction by referring to the pictures obtained from the neighboring views. By using the proposed method, a compression ratio of the proposed method in the multi-view video coding is increased, and finally 0.1~0.6㏈ PSNR(Peak Signal-to-Noise Ratio) improvement was obtained compared with the case of not using the proposed method.

        전력계통 보호기기에 적용한 One-coil 전자식 조작기(PMA)의 동작특성 개선

        This paper proposes an enhanced operating characteristic of One-coil Permanent Magnetic Actuators (PMA) applied to protection devices in power systems such as circuit breakers and switches. A Finite Element Method(FEM) was used to design the PMA. A short circuit switching test was performed with a recloser in which a prototype PMA was applied and an additional test was conducted after improving the recloser based on the analysis derived from the previous short circuit switching test. From the test result, data on the operating characteristics according to the weight of the mover and the design of the opening spring was obtained. The resulting data obtained will be helpful in designing a future power system protection device to which a One-coil PMA is applied.

        조명변화에 적응적인 움직임 검색 기법과 2차원 다이렉트 모드를 사용한 다시점 비디오 부호화

        A MVC (Multi-view Video Coding) method, which uses both an illumination change-adaptive ME (Motion Estimation)/MC (Motion Compensation) and a 2D (Dimensional) direct mode, is proposed. Firstly, a new SAD (Sum of Absolute Difference) measure for ME/MC is proposed to compensate the Luma pixel value changes for spatio-temporal motion vector prediction. Illumination change-adaptive (ICA) ME/MC uses the new SAD to improve both MV (Motion Vector) accuracy and bit saving. Secondly, The proposed 2D direct mode that can be used in inter-view prediction is an extended version of the temporal direct mode in MPEG-4 AVC. The proposed MVC method obtains approximately 0.8㏈ PSNR (Peak Siganl-to-Noise Ratio) increment compared with the MPEG-4 AVC simulcast coding.
