The purpose of this study is to explore the process professional dance performers give up dance and change their career paths, focus on the rationale behind such decisions and investigate any possible improvements in this decision making. To attain the goal of the study, 4 participants were selected as the study participants. They had studied and practiced dance for over 10 years but they gave up their respective dance careers and currently work in fields which are not related with dance. To collect the data, first, semi strustured interview was composed and in-depth interview methods were executed in two separate occasions. In conclusion, there were internal reasons and external reasons participants abandoned dance as their major. The participants started dance starting dance with vogue dream and yearning and experienced positive changes of their mind and body and also were able to experience of delight and achievement after completion of each performances. Despite such positive changes and experience, the internal factors for giving up the career could be frequent injury caused by burdensome training, limit in physic and stress from continual competition. The external factors are negative recognition of dance, economical issues, negative experience from school/group oriented relationships and dance curriculum that focuses on dance more as a physical activity than in-depth study. To improve these factors, dancers should reflect on each of their possibilities, change to active attitude searching diverse path and various experience expect dance. Also, it is presented effort asking help acquaintance with pride they are able to do what they want to do.
