Adjusted water fluoridation has been disputed because of its various effects on human health. Previous studies have been concerned with the difference in bone mineral density (BMD) between water fluoridated (WF) and none water fluoridated (NWF) districts. The aim of this study is to examine whether water fluoridation affects BMD. BMD was measured by dual energy X-ray absorptiometry (DXA). 386 adults(174 males and 212 females) in Ansan (WF) district and 399 adults (176 males and 223 females) in Sihwa (NWF) district, participated in this study. The Ansan and Sihwa districts are similar in residential environment and living class. The relationship between serum fluoride concentration and BMD was also examined by analysis of the serum fluoride concentrations from 402 inhabitants of the Ansan district. In females, the BMD of subjects living in Ansan ($0.457{\pm}0.008$) was a little higher than that of Sihwa subjects ($0.446{\pm}0.008$), although it is not significant, after adjusting for BMI, physical activity level, educational achievement, smoking volume, menopause status, and number of births. However, the BMD of Ansan subjects ($0.532{\pm}0.020$) in their forties was statistically higher than that of Sihwa (0.498{\pm}0.019). No relationship was found in males. In residential periods, there was significant difference (Ansan $0.467{\pm}0.013$, Sihwa $0.434{\pm}0.012$, p=0.0125) in the BMD between females of two districts, particularly in the group of over 6 year long-term inhabitants. On the contrary, there was no remarkable difference in males from the two districts. Serum fluoride concentrations in females were associated with BMD, especially in the age group of forties (p=0.0457). No relationship was observed in the male group. Analysis of adult BMD over the age of 20 in a water fluoridated and a none water fluoridated district, confirms more or less a higher BMD in the water fluoridated (WF) district, especially for females. It is assumed that the difference between two districts came somewhat from the effect of water fluoridation.

This paper is focused on flexural bahavior of cement composites reinforced with carbon fibers as a part of research for improving a seismic performance of structures using carbon fiber reinforced concrete(CRFC). Flexural behavior test was conducted on respective specimens reinforced with different fiber length(6mm, 12mm) and contents(0%, 0.5%, 1.0%, 2.0%, 3.0%). The result of the test showed that the flexural performance of carbon fiber reinforced cement composites are directly proportional to the fiber contents except for the specimen reinforced with 3% carbon fiber.

This study was conducted improve reduction of flexural performance cuased by using acrylic round bar. For the specimen, different fiber contents(0.2%, 0.4%)was used for recycled waste ALC and the bottom ash light weight aggregate respectively to confirm the flexural performance according to the fiber content. The result of the test showed that the specimen with 0.4% fiver content shown to have improvement of flexural performance.

LEFC(Light Emotion Friendly Conceret) was developed in Korea with demands of esthentic requirements in line with the recent developmental trend of concrete technology. The LEFC is made by inserting transparent transparent rods, and this forms a heterogeneous structure in the concrete matrix causing the LEFC substrate to crack due low adhesion between the rod and the cement. In this study, as a way to strengthen the bonding to the rod inserted in the LEFC, high strength vinylon fibers of varying mixture ratios were applied and physical properties were tested accordingly. To study the effect of different spacing of the bars on the LEFC, physical property testing was conducted on respective specimens with two different diameters (5mm, 10mm) inserted in different intervals of spacing (10mm, 15mm, and 20mm).

For the purpose of reducing defects (cracking) in topping concretes cast as artificial greening layer base, synthetic macro fibers were mixed. The flexural strength of synthetic macro fiber mixed topping concretes was tested via comparing its performance with current topping concrete. According to the results of the testing, topping concrete with adjusted mixing ratio after mixing with 1kg of synthetic macro fiber showed approximately 15% higher flexural strength compared to the current topping concrete.

This study was conducted to examine the workability of LEFC in relation to the types and the mix ratio of different foaming agents. The foam agents act as lightweight aggregates in the concrete matrix and provide an alternative to obtaining the adequate strength level for the foam concrete. The results of the test showed that the synthetic foam agents were able to act properly as replacements for the lightweight aggregates.
