        The aerosol light absorption from black carbon suspended in the air is highlighted because the radiative forcing of black carbon(BC) could be as much as 55% of the CO₂ forcing. Also, the size distribution of BC normally has a mode diameter in the submicron range, its deeper penetration into the respiratory system causes health problems But there are large uncertainties of optical properties of BC, so we can not anticipate exactly the effect of BC on the atmospheric environment and the human health. For these reasons, we conducted experiments with the optical properties of BC from diesel engine for reducing uncertainties of BC. We found that the mode diameter of BC from diesel engine is about 200 nm and the size has log-normal distribution. The absorption cross-section of 150 nm, 200 nm, 250 nm, 300 nm and 400 nm particle was measured 2.21, 1.06, 2.76, 2.73, 1.62X10<SUP>-14</SUP>m²/#, respectively. In addition, we investigated that the difference between BC and EC (Elemental Carbon). The absorption coefficient of BC was measured using a MAAP and the EC concentration was measured using EC/OC (Organic Carbon) Analyzer.
