Full-beads of multi-layer steel engine head gaskets that are used to seal the combustion gas between the head and the block are subject to cyclic bending stresses due to the variation of the head/block gap during engine operation. The L-D curve of the full-bead formed on SUS304 thin plate is important for the sealing capacity assessment. Therefore the experimental method for measuring the L-D curve must be established in gasket company. In this study the rig and the data acquisition system for measuring the L-D curve is suggested. And the experimental results are shown. This results are compared with numerical results obtained by using ABAQUS package.

The design of the bumper beam and the front part of the longitudinal member$ and their connection defines the consumptioness of the frontal structure of cars. These structures are the crushable members for absorbing the collision energy for axial impact and offset impact. The behavior of these structures depends upon their geometry and the eccentricity of load, The most effective behavior of tube for absorbing the impact energy is the progressive folding not the bending-collapse, But thin-walled lubes under eccentric compressive load are generally bending-collapsed if the rotation of tl1eir end-supports are not prevented, The behavior$ of thin-walled tubes allowed to rotate within some angle are different and depend upon the restriction angle.
Small overlap Crash에 대한 Body Structure 충돌 성능 연구

This paper presents a study of countermeasure for small overlap frontal crashes. In proportion to developing crashworthiness, most of the modern vehicles get high ratings in NCAP frontal test or Frontal offset test in IIHS. Even if the vehicles get the good rating in those tests, there are a lot of severe injuries or death rates in the frontal crash. And some portion of the frontal crash is the small overlap crash. The one of the characteristics of small overlap crash is to make intrusion of the occupant compartment and it can be a threat to the safety for occupant. In present study, the body structure crashworthiness simulation and development to get occupant safety while small overlap crash is occurred are studied based on the frontal offset crash protocol in IIHS. The result of the base model simulation is similar with real world case which has occupant compartment intrusion. And the simulation results demonstrate that the case studies for crashworthiness of the body structure are working.

The frequency of rollover accidents are 2,525 cases of 226,787 cases that are whole car accidents in 2010. Rollover accidents posses 1.1% of accidents case and fatality is 16.8% for rollover accidents. That means that rollover accidents are very severe case than any other accidents types. There are roof crush resistance tests to evaluate the rollover crash worthiness. Those are include KMVSS 92, FMVSS 216, FMVSS 216a etc. In this paper shows the influence of roof crush resistance for the side body inclination of vehicles.

The frequency of rollover accidents are 2,525 cases of 226,787 cases that are whole car accidents in 2010. Rollover accidents posses 1.1% of accidents case and fatality is 16.8% for rollover accidents. That means that rollover accidents are very severe case than any other accidents types. There are two kind of test to evaluate the rollover crashworthiness. One is static test, the other is dynamic test. Former one includes KMVSS 92(Roof crush resistance), FMVSS 216, FMVSS 216a etc. Dynamic test includes KMVSS 102, CRIS etc. In this paper, we analyzed the test results for roof crush resistance and CRIS using multi-body dynamic simulation.

This paper presents a study of appropriateness for the roof strength evaluation method. Current roof strength test methods do not cover the real rollover accident trend because the test condition is quasi-static. The vehicle CAE model was developed using ADAMS in this paper. The model consists of A/B/C pillar, Roof-bows, Side Roof-rail and Body frame. The model was used to simulate quasi-static and dynamic roof crush test. The quasi-static roof crush test condition was followed IIHSs test protocol. And the dynamic roof crush test condition was followed the paper A Proposed Rollover and Comprehensive Rating System, which was released 2009 ESV Conference because the dynamic roof crush test protocol hasnt been developed yet. The name of dynamic roof crush test equipment is Jordan Rollover System (JRS). L<SUP>27</SUP> orthogonal array is adopted for DOE (Design of Experiment). Also, the test results show which member affects roof crush performance and presents that dominant members are different between quasi-static and dynamic roof crush test.
