가부장적 이데올로기의 모순과 상상적 봉합 -<복선화음가>에 대한 연구사 검토와 새로운 독법의 마련-

본 논문에서는 <복선화음가>에 대한 그간의 논의들이 여성의 치산 행위에만 주목하여 이를 봉건주의의 해체적 징후 내지는 근대전환기의 변화된 현상으로 파악해 왔던 것에 대해 의문을 제기하고, 이를 조선 후기 들어 강화되어 가는 가부장적 이데올로기와 연계시켜 해석하고자 하였다. 이를 위해 2장에서는 본 작품에 대한 그간의 독법들을 차례 대로 살펴본 후, 이 작품이 가부장적 이데올로기에 내재한 그 자체의 모순을 의도치 않게 드러내고 있으며, 따라서 그러한 모순의 지점들과 이를 해결하는 나름의 방식에 주목해볼 것을 제안하였다. 3장에서는 여성에게 치산의 책무가 부과되어 가는 저간의 사정을 살펴보았다. 조선 전기와 달리 사대부 남성들의 ‘不治産業’은 양반 남성이 지녀야 할 주요한 덕목으로 간주되었고, 이는 현실적으로 그들 자신의 지위를 유지하는 데에 필수적인 사항이었다. 그런데 조선 후기 들어 강화된 종법적 질서의 전파에 따라 주자학적 제례의식의 준수 또한 그들에게는 필수적으로 요구되었던바, 치산하지 않는 것과 적지 않은 비용이 소요되는 주자학적 제례의식의 설행은 서로 상충되기 마련이었다. 이러한 모순을 타파하기 위해 치산의 책무는 여성에게로 전가되어 갔던 것이다. 4장에서는 <복선화음가>에 드러나는 치산하는 여성의 형상이 이러한 역사적 현실을 배경으로 나타난 것이며, 이에 따라 <복선화음가>는 福善이라는 관념적 논리를 바탕으로 하여 당대의 여성들로 하여금 가부장제의 모순에 대한 자각 없이 치산에 전념케 하려는 가부장적 이데올로기의 企圖가 그 이면에 깔려 있는 것으로 추정하였다. 뿐만 아니라 <복선화음가>에 나타나는 괴똥어미의 형상을 작자가 의도한 사회적 적대의 응축으로 파악하고, 이를 통해 가부장적 이데올로기의 모순을 은폐하고자 하는, 다시 말해 상상적으로 봉합하고자 하는 시도로 결론지었다. This study raises a doubt about the understanding of “BokSeonHwaEum Ga” which the women`s property management was considered as the symptom of feudal dissolution or the change of modern transition, and intends to relate that to the patriarchal ideology which had been strengthened in the late Joseon Dynasty. To this, after look into existing ways of reading to this book sequentially, I suggested that this book showed its contradiction in the patriarchal ideology unintentionally and it needed to figure out its contradiction and solution in Chapter 2. In Chapter 3, I examined the circumstances which assigned the responsibility of property management to women. Unlike early Joseon Dynasty, “not involving in the property management” was considered as significant virtue of nobleman and it was essential to keep his position in reality. But as the strengthened order of clan rules was spread in the late Joseon Dynasty, they were forced to perform the memorial services for the ancestors by the doctrines of Chu-tzu, so “not involving in the property management” was likely to collide with the high-cost performance of the memorial services for the ancestors by the doctrines of Chu-tzu. Therefore, the responsibility of property management was assigned to women more and more to solve this problem. In Chapter 4, I figured out the women`s property management described in “BokSeonHwaEum-Ga” was resulted from these historical circumstances, so “BokSeonHwaEum-Ga” seemed to have the intentional ideology of patriarchy which made women contribute to manage the property without the awareness of contradiction in patriarchy based on the ideological logic of Bokseon in “BokSeonHwaEum-Ga”. And I concluded it was a imaginary suture to try to cover the contradiction in the patriarchal ideology while understanding the image of Goettongoeumi in “BokSeonHwaEum-Ga” as the conglomerate of social hostility as the author intended.
