This experiment was carried out to test performance of domestic fowl. In this study 750 chickens were used-450 pure strain White Leghorns, 150 line cross White Leghorns and 150 crossbred Hamphorns. The results obtained were summrized as follows. 1. Viability from hatching to 60 days was 98.9±1.20%, that from 61 to 150 days was 96.7±1.72% and that from 151 to 500days was 81.5±5.90. 2. Age at sexual maturity was 183.6±5.09 days. The sexual maturity of crossbreds was about 15 days earlier than that of pure strain. 3. Egg production till 500 days on hen-day basis was 60.6±7.34% and that on hen-house basis was 195.5±9.01. Crossbreds were remarkably higher than other strains in egg production. 4. Egg weight showed a mean of 55.5±1.57g. 5. Body weight at 300 days of age was 1,918g. and that at 500 days of age was 1,958g. 6. In the chicken disease, the birds dying of Leukemia was most numerous, followed in rank by egg rupture.

CWS(coal-water slurry) is used for application in power plants, boilers, industrial furnaces. A single coal-water slurry droplet ignition has been examined to reveal the basic nature of their evaporation, volatilization and heating processes. The interior droplet temperature distribution has been considered. The effect of coal thermal conductivity, droplet size, water fraction in the slurry, gas temperature and velocity and radiation on the ignition phenomena were also studied. Either increasing the velocity and gas temperature or decreasing the droplet size and water fraction in the slurry may reduce the time for evaporation and ignition delay time.
도입육용계의 경제성과 다원교배에 의한 우량육용계 선발에 관한 연구

This study was carried out to determine and compare the economic value of imported and domestic broiler stocks, and to select superior broiler stocks by crossbreeding. Seven hundred and eighty chicks of 13 kinds of crosses from mating of Cornish males with White Plymouth Rock, Rhode Island Red, New Hampshire, and White Leghorn females and 180 chicks of 3 kinds of imported broiler stocks were compared in this study. The results obtained are as follows. 1. Viability There was no significant difference in viability (0-4 weeks and 4-10 weeks) between domestic and imported broiler stocks. The death rate of the purebreds was higher than the crossbreds. The death of the bird was due mainly to catarrh of crop and salmonella disease. 2. Growth rate The highest body weights at 8 weeks of age were 1,454gm (stock D) for imported stocks and 1,330gm (stock CRW) for domestic stocks. The body weights at 10 weeks of age was also higher in the stocks, $quot;D$quot; and $quot;CRW$quot; than other stocks. There was no significant difference in the growth rate among the three imported stocks and among CW, CWR, and CRW during 0-4 weeks. During 4-10 weeks, the growth rate of the imported stocks was higher than the domestic stocks, but was not significantly different from the best domestic stock, namely the stock CRW. 3. Feed conversion The average feed conversion at 8 weeks of age was 2.51 for the three imported stocks, and 2.61 for the three superior domestic stocks. The difference in feed conversion at 10 weeks of age was also 0.1. 4. Carcass rate and Grade Carcass rats and grade were classified by USDA grading system. Imported and superior domestic broiler stocks were A grade. CN, CR, CLN and CWL were B grade and others were C grade. Carcass rate of imported and superior domestic broiler stock were 77.5∼78.5% and the rate of semi-broiler was 75∼76%. 5. Economic efficiency The largest incomes at 8 weeks of age were 79.05 Won per bird in CRW of demestic stock and 73.16 Won per bird in imported stock $quot;A$quot;. Also the incomes at 10 weeks of age were 111.8 Won in $quot;A$quot; and 109.09 Won in $quot;CRW$quot;. The average income at 8 and 10 weeks of age of three superior domestic stock were higher than three kinds of imported broiler stocks.
