To control the air fuel ratio of internal combustion engine system, HFM (Hot Film Air Mass Flowmeter) is mostly used. It is very important to control AF ratio for emission control and fuel efficiency. However, soot particle in the intake air by the diesel vehicles which is old or not to equip DPF system will cause the problem to HFM. The goal of this paper is to evaluate the effects of the soot particle in the intake air on HFM (Hot Film Air Mass Flowmeter). To achieve the goal, 2.0L diesel engine was used to generate the soot and exhaust gas which was surrogate intake air including the soot particle for evaluating the effects of the soot particle on the HFM. The result of this work is that the circular shape of grid which was the part of HFM’s entrance increases the efficiency of flow rate and soot particles, but increasing soot deposit in the sensor element in HFM causes the decreasing the performance of the HFM.

To control the air fuel ratio of internal combustion engine system, Linear Oxygen Sensor is mostly used in these days. Controlling lambda of exhaust gas is the very important to reduce the emission control and enhance the fuel efficiency. In a gasoline internal combustion engine, TWC (Three Way Catalyst) is widely used to reduce the emission. TWC is operated in lambda 1.0 condition. So, oxygen sensor is important to control the lambda for using TWC in internal combustion engine. However, poisoning worsen the sensor performance. The goal of this paper is to evaluate the effects of the siloxane vapor on the linear oxygen sensor. To achieve the goal, selecting the variables those are main factors to worse the sensor performance. Using these factor, separated variable experiment is carried out. The result of this study is that the most dominant factor to worse the sensor performance is the cycle number of measuring the sensor performance. Increasing the number of measuring the sensor performance causes the decreasing the sensor performance.
