        MC3T3-E1 골아세포에서 발효 다시마 추출물에 의한 조골세포 분화의 촉진

        The Laminaria japonica Aresch (Sea tangle) belongs to the brown algae and has a long history as a food material in Asia, including Korea. Recent studies have found that the fermented Sea tangle extract (FST) inhibited the differentiation of osteoclasts and protected osteoblasts from oxidative damage. This study aims to explore the possibility that FST can induce the differentiation of osteoblasts and identify the responsible mechanism. According to our results, FST induced differentiation into osteogenic cells in the presence of osteoblastic MC3T3-E1 cells under non-toxic conditions.. This finding was confirmed by phalloidin staining, increased alkaline phosphatase activity, and calcium deposition. Additionally, it was found that this process was achieved by increasing the expression of key factors involved in osteoblast differentiation, such as runt-related transcription factor-2, osterix, β-catenin, and bone morphogenetic protein-2. Moreover, FST increased autophagy, which may contribute to the maintenance of the bone formation homeostasis, and is associated with the activation of the phosphatidylinositol 3-kinase/Akt and mitogen-activated protein kinase signaling pathways. Although further research about the bioactive substances contained in FST and the tests of their efficacy are required, the results of this study indicate that FST has incredible applicability as a functional material for maintaining the bone homeostasis.

        There are thyroid lymphoma and thyroid papillary cancer in thyroid disease which can happen being associated with Hashimoto's thyroiditis. Thyroid lymphoma is a rare disease consisting of less than 1% of lymphoma and of 5% of thyroid cancer. It occurs with Hashimoto's thyroiditis in 75%, and the cause is the immune reaction in which autoantibodies originated from thyroid are exposed B-cell continually. Also, the incidence of thyroid cancer, especially thyroid papillary cancer, increases in Hashimoto's thyroiditis. The reason is that the genetic change-RET/PTC mutation- of Hashimoto's thyroiditis is specific to thyroid papillary cancer than to other cancer. Patients usually complain neck nodule or sudden neck mass growing, hoarseness and respiratory difficulty. FNA, USG, Neck CT, MRI, and RI scan can be used for diagnosis. We can choose radiation, operation, and chemotherapy in single form or combined form according to the stage and the location of disease. If a patient who has neck mass, the pathologic finding of it is similar to that of Hashimoto's thyroiditis, and it is resistant to thyroid hormonal therapy, we should consider that it can be thyroid lymphoma or thyroid papillary cancer associated with Hashimoto's thyroiditis. We report a case of thyroid MALT lymphoma combined with occult papillary cancer which was resistant to thyroid hormonal therapy and which was successfully treated by operation and radiation therapy.         무인항공기 자동착륙을 위한 활강궤적 추종 알고리듬 성능분석

        Automatic landing of UAVs receives increasing interest these days, with increasing number of the developed UAV systems. In this paper, a glidepath tracking algorithm of the subscale UAV was proposed and the performance was analyzed. Flight data analysis shows that the existing autolanding flight control algorithm has a classical type glidepath control. This paper presents an alternative glidepath tracking strategy based on embedded flight control law. The performance of the proposed strategy was investigated through the TDP(Touch Down Point) error analysis with regard to various flight environment: steady headwind, atmospheric disturbance, communication transfer delay. It was verified that the proposed glidepath tracking strategy can be successfully applied to the practical autolanding of UAV systems.

      • New Zealand White rabbit의 감수분열 단계별 염색체들의 특징에 관한 연구

        Meiotic chromosomal characteristics of domestic rabbit (New Zealand White rabbit) were investigated. For these purposes, the meiotic chromosomal preparations were with the modified air-drying method of Imai et al(1981). Chromomeres, sex vesicles and centromeres could be classified in the zygotene and the pachytene of the first division. The hair-like processes projection laterally from the axes of bivalent chromosomes at the mid-to-late pachytene were observed and made the appearance of the lampbrush chromosome structure. Chromosomes could be classified on the basis of the numbers and the locations of chiasma in the diakinesis. Twenty-one autosomal bivalents and a single unequal terminally associated X-Y bivalent types observed in the New Zealand White rabbit spermatocytes were 1CH, and 2TAI, and 2TA bivalents. The mean chiasma frequency (CF) of the male New Zealand White rabbit was 30.2, and it was found that the CF value tended to decrease through the diakinesis and the metaphase I.

        크루얼티 프리 패션 브랜드의 커뮤니케이션 성과 분석 - 브랜드 주도적 이미지와 소비자 지각 이미지에 대한 비교 -

        This study assessed the effectiveness of brand image communication on consumer perceptions of cruelty-free fashion brands. Brand messaging data were gathered from postings on the official Instagram accounts of three cruelty-free fashion brands and consumer perception data were gathered from Tweets containing keywords related to each brand. Web crawling and natural language processing were performed using Python and sentiment analysis was conducted using the BERT model. By analyzing Instagram content from Stella McCartney, Patagonia, and Freitag from their inception until 2021, this study found these brands all emphasize environmental aspects but with differing focuses: Stella McCartney on ecological conservation, Patagonia on an active outdoor image, and Freitag on upcycled products. Keyword analysis further indicated consumers perceive these brands in line with their brand messaging: Stella McCartney as high-end and eco-friendly, Patagonia as active and environmentally conscious, and Freitag as centered on recycling. Results based on the assessment of the alignment between brand-driven images and consumer-perceived images and the sentiment evaluation of the brand confirmed the outcomes of brand communication performance. The study revealed a correlation between brand image and positive consumer evaluations, indicating that higher alignment of ethical values leads to more positive consumer assessments. Given that consumers tend to prioritize search keywords over brand concepts, it’s important for brands to focus on using visual imagery and promotions to effectively convey brand communication information. These findings highlight the importance of brand communication by emphasizing the connection between ethical brand images and consumer perceptions.

        인체폐암세포의 Bcl-2 family 및 cyclooxygenases의 발현에 미치는 해면동물 Sarcotragus sp. 유래 furanoterpenoids의 영향

        본 연구에서 국내 연근해에 서식하는 해면 Sarcotragus sp. (Dictyoceratida속)에서 분리 추출된 7종의 furanoterpenoid계 화합물〔sarcotin A, epi-sarcotin A, ircinin-1, epi-sarcotrine B, sarcotin I, (8E,13Z,20Z) -strobilinin/ (7E,13Z,20Z) -felixinin and (7E,12E,18R,20Z)-variabilin〕의 항암 활성을 비교하기 위하여 A549 인체폐암세포를 대상으로 그들의 세포독성을 조사하였고, 이와 연관된 세포증식 억제 및 apoptosis 유발에 관여할 것으로 예상되는 중요한 유전자 몇 가지의 발현에 미치는 영향을 조사하였다. 조사된 7종의 화합물 모두 처리 농도 의존적으로 A549 폐암세포의 증식을 억제하였는데, 그중 sarcotin A 및 (7E,12E,18R,20Z)-variabilin이 비교적 높은 세포독성을 나타내었다. 이러한 세포증식의 억제는 종양억제 유전자 p53 의존적 또는 비의존적으로 Bcl-2 유전자에 대한 Bax의 발현 증가와 연관된 apoptosis 유발과 관련이 있었으며, epi-sarcotin A, ircinin-1 및 epi-sarcotrine B 처리군에서 이러한 현상은 두드러지게 관찰되었다. 또한 epi-sarcotin A와 ircinin-1은 COX-1의 발현에는 아무런 영향을 미치지 않았으나, COX-2의 발현은 선택적으로 저해하였다. 이러한 결과는 해양 해면동물에서 유래된 furanoterpenoid계 화합물이 선택 적으로 강력한 항암효과를 가질 수 있다는 것을 의미한다. We investigated the cytotoxic effects of seven furanoterpenoids 〔sarcotin A, epi-sarcotin A, ircinin-1, epi-sarcotrine B, sarcotin I, (8E, l3Z, 20Z)-strobilinin/(7E,l3Z, 20Z)-felixinin and (7E,12E,18R,20Z)-variabilin〕 isolated from the sponge Sarcotragus sp. (the order Dictyoceratida) on the growth of A549 human lung carcinoma cells. MTT data revealed that sarcotin A and (7E,12E,18R,20Z)-variabilin exhibited higher potencies on the anti-proliferative activities than the other compounds in A549 cells. The growth inhibition by treatment with compounds (especially epi-sarcotin A, ircinin-1 and epi-sarcotrine B) were associated with the induction of apoptotic cell death through the concentration-dependent increase of Bax/Bcl-2 ratio in a p53-dependent or independent pathway Additionally, epi-sarcotin A and ircinin-1 strongly inhibited the levels of cyclooxygenase (COX)-2 expression without alteration of COX-1. Taken together, the results suggest that the furanoterpenoids from the marine sponge have strong potentials as candidates for anti-cancer drugs.

        세포주기조절에 관한 최근 연구

        Regulation of cell proliferation is a complex process involving the regulated expression and /or modification of discrete gene products. which control transition between different stages of the cycle. The purpose of this short review is to provide an overview of somatic cell cycle events and their controls. Cycline have appeared as major positive regulators in this network, because their association to the cyclin-dependent kinases(Cdks) allows the subsequent activation on the Cdk/cyclin complexes and their catalatic activity. In mammalian cells, early to mid G1 progression and late G1 progression leading to S phase entry are directed by D-type cyclins-Cdk4, 6 and cyclin E-Cdk 2 both of which can phosphorylate the retinoblastoma protein (pRB). pRB is a transcriptional repressor which, in its unphosphorylated state, binds to members of the E2F transcription factor family and blocks E2F-dependent transcription of genes controlling the G1 to S phase transition an subsequent DNA synthesis. Cyclin A is produced in late G1 and expressed during S and G2 phae, and expression of B-type cyclins is typically maximal during the G2 to M phase transition and it controls the passage through M phase. They primarily associate with the activate Cdk2, and Cdc2, respectively. On the other hand, the Cdk inhibitors negatively control the activity of C아/cyclin complex by coordinating internal and/or external signals and impending proliferation at several key checkpoints. These current and further findings will provide novel approaches to understanding and treating major diseases.

        科學敎育에서 科學-技術-社會 (Science-Technology-Society)的 接近의 動向과 課題

        과학교육에서의 새로운 운동인 STS(Science-Technology-Society) 프로그램이 과거 20년 동안 미국과 유럽의 각국에서 발달되어져 왔다. 이 프로그램의 주 목적은 지식, 과정, 창의성, 태도 및 응용의 영역에서 자유스런 토론을 통한 문제해결과 의사결정능력을 함양해주는 것이다. 본 연구에서는 STS 교육과정의 소개와 우리나라 과학교육과정에로의 적용에 관하여 논의하였다. 과학교육에서 STS 교육과정의 접근을 시도한다면, 무엇보다도 STS 프로그램의 적용 결과 나타난 문제점들을 면밀히 검토해 보아야 한다. 그리고 과학교육의 목적이 무엇인지에 대하여 의문점을 가져봐야 할 것이며, 현재 우리나라의 학제 구조상 종래의 과학교육 목적 위에 STS 교육과정의 내용을 보완하는 형태가 바람직할 것으로 생각된다. 아울러 새로운 교과내용의 연구와 개발에는 교사가 함께 참여 해야 할 것이다. Science-Technology-Society(STS) curricula, the new movement in science education, have been developed in America and Europe for the last 20 years. The major purpose of this program is to arise the ability of the problem solving and decision making through the democratic discussion in areas of knowledge, process, creativity, attitute and aplication. In present paper, we have introduced those STS curricula developed, and discussed about application to Korean science education. First of all, in order to introduce STS education to Korean science education, the problems related to STS curricula should be reviewed. And we must be questioned about the purpose of science education, be hopeful reorganize the educational systems since the begining of Korean science teaching methodology. In addition, teachers should be involved in the study and development of STS education approach for Korean science education.

      • D. melanogaster의 PM system에서 Hybrid dysgenesis 현상 : GD Sterility에 미치는 온도의 영향 Influence of Temperature on the GD Sterility

        Drosophila melanogaster의 PM system에 의한 GD sterility에 미치는 온도의 영향을 조사하였으며, standard M 과 P type으로는 Canton-S와 Harwich strain이 각각 사용되어졌다. Canton-5 암컷과 Harwich 수컷 사이 교배에 의한 F_1 암컷의 퇴화된 난소는 일반적으로 크기와 함유한 알의 수도 정상에 비하여 적었으며, 이런 난소 퇴화 현상은 양쪽이 동시에 혹은 어느 한쪽만이 부분적으로 퇴화 된 경우도 있었으나 전자의 경우가 더 많았다. PM system에서 퇴화된 난소는 D. melanogaster의 암컷과 D. simulans 수컷 사이의 종간 잡종에 의한 불임의 F_1 암컷과 형태적으로 유사하였으며, 난소를 제외한 나머지 기관들은 정상 형태였다. D. melanogaster의 PM system에서의 암컷 불임 현상은 온도 의존적 이었으며, 온도 감수 시기는 배발생 단계와 초기 유충 단계임을 알 수 있었다. The influence of temperature on gonadal dysgenesis(GD) sterility associated with the PM system in Drosophila melanogaster were investigated. To detect GD sterility, Canton-S and Harwich, those are typical strains of the standard M and P type, respectively, for both cytotype and genotype were used. Dysgenic ovaries were generally reduced in size and number of eggs hold in comparison to control ones. The ovarian dysgenesis developed particularly at the highest test temperature was sometime unilateral, but more frequently bilateral. Dysgenic ovaries in the PM system were morphologically similar to those of the interspecific hybrid females between D. melanogaster females and D. simulans males. In those phenomena of intra- and interspecific hybrid sterility, other accessory organs except for ovaries appeared normal. The manifestation of female sterility in the PM system of D. melanogaster was highly dependent on F_1 developmental temperature. The temperature-sensitive period for GD sterility extended from embryonic stages to early larval stages.
