소프트볼 선수들의 은퇴, 직업전환, 회귀 경험 및 의미에 대한 내러티브 탐구

이 연구는 소프트볼 선수들의 은퇴 및 직업전환과 회귀 경험에 대한 연구 참여자들의 내러티브를 통해 그 속에서 나타나는 함축적인 의미를 탐색하는 데 그 목적이 있었다. 연구 참여자는 소프트볼 선수 시절부터 은퇴 이후 삶의 경험과 이야기가 풍부한 중년 여성을 대상으로 선정하였으며, 자료 수집은 심층면담, 참여관찰, 이미지텔링, 신문기사, 훈련일지 등을 통해 수집하였다. 자료 분석은 해석적 분석(Wolcott, 1994)과 영역분석 및 분류분석(Spradly, 1980)을 활용하였다. 연구결과는 ‘소프트볼 선수의 시작에서 은퇴 경험 이야기’, ‘직업전환에서의 경험 이야기’, ‘회귀과정에서의 경험이야기’의 3가지 범주로 구분하여 기술하였다. 그리고 이에 따른 연구참여자들의 경험의 의미는 ‘비인기 종목의 현실’ 둘째, ‘여자운동선수의 사회적응기’, ‘현실의 도피처’의 3가지 범주로 구분하여 논의하였다. 이 연구는 소프트볼 선수들의 은퇴과정에서부터 회귀과정까지의 전반적인 이야기를 통해 연구 참여자들의 경험을 이해하고, 소프트볼의 문제점 및 개선의 필요성을 제기하였다는데 의의가 있다. 이러한 경험은 소프트볼 종목뿐만 아니라 다른 종목 선수들에게도 유용한 자료가 될 수 있을 것이다. Purpose: The purpose of this study was to explore the implications of softball players" retirement, job change, and regression experiences through the narratives of the study participants. Methods: Participants in the study were middle-aged women who had rich experiences and stories about life after retirement from softball. Data was collected through in-depth interviews, participatory observations, image telling, newspaper articles, and training journals. For data analysis, analytical analysis(Wolcott, 1994), domain and classification analysis(Spradly, 1980) were used. Results: The results of the study were divided into three categories:"the story of the retirement experience from the beginning of the softball player","the story of the experience in the job change" and "the story of the experience in the return process". In addition, the meaning of the experiences of the study participants was divided into three categories: “reality of unpopular events”, “social adaptation of female athletes”, and “reality refuge”. Conclusion: This study is significant in understanding the experience of the participants through the overall story of the softball players" retirement process to the return process, and raising the problem of softball and the need for improvement. This experience can be useful not only for softball players but also for players in other sports.
