This study was conducted to find out the relationship among agronomic characteristics including midrib ratio in Burley tobacco(N.tabacum L.) Four cultrivars, Burley 21, KB108, KB111 and KB301, were grown at Suwon Experimental Station in 2001. Several agronomic characteristics of these cultivars were measured for the analysis of correlations among agronomic characteristics. Midrib ratio of KB301 was somewhat higher than those of the other cultivars, but there is no significant differences among cultivars at $5\%$ probability level. Among four stalk positions, midrib ratio of cutters was the highest. Midrib ratio was correlated positively with length of leaf at $1\%$ level and negatively with weight of lamina at $5\%$ level, respectively.

The purpose of this study was to analyze scientific thinking types and processes generated in inductive inquiry by college students. Subjects were three college students. Three inductive tasks were developed: Caminalcules set 1 which is a task consisted of 6 imaginary animals, a potato task which is a task about the interaction between juiced potato and H_2O_2 and Caminalcules set 2. Subjects` performances were recorded on videotapes and analyzed. Subjects have shown 5 types of inductive thinking in the first task; recorded on videotapes commonness, discovering pattern, classifying, discovering hierarchy. the processes of inductive thinking shown by students are followed: observing-discovering commonness-classifying-discovering pattern-discovering hierarchy. the subtypes of inductive thinking on observing were investigated by the analysis of subjects` performance on the second task. In analysis of protocol, students` thinking types on classification have been searching criteria for classifying and selecting criteria for classifying. Subtypes of discovering hierarchy have been classifying groups and hierarchical ordering by students. Processes of classifying groups proceeded from searching criteria for classifying to selecting criteria for classifying.

This experiment was conducted to investigate the variability of the plants(somaclones) regenerated from mesophyll protoplast of N. tabacum. Root tip chromosome numbers were determined in 137 unselected clones regenerated from mesophyll protoplasts of the flue-cured tobacco variety Bright Yellow 4. Seventy-seven percent of the plants retained the parental chromosome number of 2n=48 and the remaining plants were tetraploid. Randomly selected 28 clones among above diploids were analyzed for variability. Mean value of all investigated characters for 28 clones were not different significantly from parental variety. However, some clones differed significantly from parental variety in leaves per plant, days to flower, nicotine, total sugar, and nitrogen contents.
