Allergic disorders, including atopic dermatitis (AD), are closely linked to the activation of type 2 helper T (Th2) cells. The aim of this study was to investigate the possibility of using Rosae multiflorae fructus extract (RMFE) for AD treatment in the AD-like mouse model induced by treatment with trimellitic anhydride (TMA). Oral treatment of RMFE reduced the increase in ear thickness and suppressed inflammatory cytokine expression (interleukin [IL]-1β and tumor necrosis factor [TNF]-α) and Th2-associated immune responses (immunoglobulin [Ig] E and IL-4) in mouse ears. Furthermore, messenger RNA (mRNA) expression levels such as IL-4, IL-5, and IL-13, in draining lymph nodes were decreased by RMFE. Furthermore, we found that RMFE increased the level of heme oxygenase-1 (HO-1) through ERK and p38 pathways, reducing IL-2 production and CD4+ T cell proliferation, and inhibited STAT6 phosphorylation. Therefore, this study suggested that RMFE could be an effective treatment of AD induced by Th2-mediated immune responses by suppressing proliferation of CD4+ T cells via increased HO-1.

Immunological properties of a 50% ethanol/aqueous extract of cheonggukjang (CGJ), a fermentedsoybean product, were investigated as a potent, orallyavailable,and cost-effective immunoadjuvant. Differentfrom cholera toxin, a widely used experimental oral adjuvantwith effects limited to mucosal immunity in the gut, oraladministrationof the CGJ extract had positive effects onboth mucosal and systemic immunity. Administration ofkeyhole limpet hemocyanin (KLH) with the CGJ extractresulted in hyper-production of KLH-specific IgA in thegut and KLH-specific IgG in the serum. Oral-administrationof the CGJ extract resulted in promotion of both Th1 andTh2 immune responses, thus eliminating concerns over animbalanced Th1 and Th2 immune bias that is oftenobserved upon administration of other commonly usedimmunoadjuvants. Ethanol/aqueous extraction of CGJresulted in enrichment of polyphenolic compounds, includingflavonoids, providing a potential extra health benefit.

The composition analysis and electron donating activity of 4 kinds of Korean wild sannamuls[Cacalia firma Komar. (CFK), Aster scaber Thunb. (AST), Ligularia fischeri (Ledeb.) Turcz. (LFT), Synurus palmatopinnatifidus (Makino) Kitam., SDN)] were investigated. The Korean edible mountainous vegetable was named a sannamul or chwinamul in Korea, generally. Most of them, the characterization of the each vegetable was reported, individually without comparative research. This study was compared the proximate compositions, mineral, dietary fiber and electron donating abilities on 2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) of sannamuls. In the chemical analysis of sannamuls, CFK was shown higher value in ash (5.4±0.18%), crude fat (2.5 ±0.14%), carbohydrate (8.1±0.21%), potassium (475.45±0.34mg) and magnesium (64.70±0.48mg) than others. Each mineral of the 3 other samples was a similar value but phosphorus in LFT was contained 62.91±0.43%. The compositions of total dietary fiber of the samples were listed CFK LFT SDN AST and the RC50 Value on DPPH radicals, LFK CFT AST SDN. These results have susggest that CFK and LFT may be useful for a funtional material to food development.
β-Glucosidase 처리에 의한 치자추출물의 항염증 활성 증진

본 연구에서는, 치자 열매를 항염증 소재로 선택하여, 치자 추출물(GFE)에 β-glucosidase를 처리함으로써 항염증 활성을 증진하고자 하였다. 항염증 활성의 비교를 위해 추출물과 LPS를 함께 처리하여 RAW264.7 세포가 생산하는 NO의 양을 측정하였다. Lactic acid bacteria, 식물 그리고 곰팡이 유래 β-glucosidase를 처리한 결과, 곰팡이(A. niger, A. fumigatus)에서 유래된 효소를 처리하는 것이 GFE의 NO생산 억제활성 증진에 가장 효과적이었다. 그리고 GFE에 대한 A. niger 유래 β-glucosidase의 최적 처리조건은 pH 4.6, 45oC 그리고 20 U/mL의 효소 농도로 24 h 반응시키는 것이었다. 이와 같은 조건으로 GFE에 효소를 처리한 GFAN은 GFE와 유사한 세포 생존율을 나타냈고, 세포독성은 나타나지 않았다. 또한 GFAN의 처리에 의하여 RAW264.7 세포의 염증성 cytokine생산, COX-2생산 그리고 NF-κB활성이 현저히 줄어들었다. 본 연구에서 GFAN의 항염증 활성 증진은 치자의 성분 중 주로 geniposide가 β-glucosidase처리에 의하여 genipin으로 전환되었기 때문이라 생각된다. 이상의 결과는 β-glucosidase를 처리한 치자 추출물(GFE)을 이용하여 안전하고 효과적인 항염증 기능성 식품 소재 개발이 가능함을 제시하였다. In this study, we selected Gardeniae fructus (GF) as an anti-inflammatory functional material and improved the biological activity of GF through the treatment of β-glucosidase. For the simple evaluation of anti-inflammatory activity, the inhibitory activity of GF extract (GFE) on the production of NO by RAW264.7 cells in the presence of LPS was examined. β-glucosidase originating from Aspergillus niger or Aspergillus fumigatus has effectively improved the antiinflammatory activity of GFE. The enzyme treatment raised the activity of GFE by more than 10 times. The optimum conditions for the enzyme reaction were at pH 4.6, 45℃, and 20 U/mL for 24 h with agitation. In addition, in vitro production of cytokines (IL-1β, IL-6, TNF-α), COX-2, and the NF-κB activation of RAW264.7 cells decreased more in the presence of GFE treated with β-glucosidase originating from Aspergillus niger (GFAN) than in the presence of GFE. These results suggest that enzyme-treated GFE might be a potential candidate for natural anti-inflammatory food materials.

The main purpose of this paper is to examine the effect of “strategic moves” (or strategic change) on the likelihood of organizational survival in a population of firms which has undergone radical transformations in its environment. To this end, we propose and test two competitive hypotheses which are the result of two other theoretical perspectives about the consequences of strategic change: the adaptation view (classic strategic management and dynamic capabilities) and the ecological approach. Two competing hypotheses, adaptation perspective and the organizational ecology perspective, for empirical study were performed. In this study, the analysis was conducted and targeted electronic components manufacturing industry with high environmental dynamism. An in-depth comparison between the strategic changes and organizational survival from two perspectives are available by examining how it is the support. Electronic components manufacturing industry for the 1982-2011 panel data on the organization’s strategic change and survival analysis were used. First, industrial strategy of SSTPs was classified by the movement of strategies between the SSTPs in the organizational survival. I used the probit regression to analyze. The results confirm the negative and significant effect of strategic change on the organizational survival with organizational ecology perspective. In other words, the strategic change has a negative effect on the organizational survival. Through this study, the generalization of the results can be improved by analysis based on the two theoretical perspectives about both the strategic change and the organizational survival.
