158 medicinal animal species are mentioned in seven pharmacopoeias of Korea (including North Korea), China (including Taiwan), and Japan. However, there are many cases where the scientific names are written incorrectly. Some of them are misspelled, or did not conform to recommendations of the International Code of Zoological Nomenclature. In this review, the correct scientific names were presented. When describing animal-based medicinal materials, these correct scientific names should be used.

중국의 중약재 GAP 인증 현황 분석

The CFDA (China Food and Drug Administration) notifications (2004-2014) were analyzed for check the status and trends on GAP (Good Agricultural Practices) of medicinal herbs in China. The 11.4 cases a year on average has been certified while the first 10 years. However, the certifications have increased rapidly at 2014. Among the medicinal herbs, Ginseng Radix, Salviae Miltiorrhizae Radix, Corni Fructus, Notoginseng Radix and Isatidis Radix have ranked in order of total 66 herbs. On the other hand, among the certified areas, Sichuan was the most common in the provincial level administrative divisions of China, and followed by Yunnan, Henan, Gansu, Jilin and so on. And Mianyang (Sichuan) has had the most certifications in the prefectural levels. For further study, it will need to get additional informations such as the regional productions, and to be analyzed together.

The pharmacopeias of South Korea consist of the Korean Pharmacopoeia Eleventh Edition (KP 11) and the Korean Herbal Pharmacopoeia (KHP). And North Korea’s is the Pharmacopoeia of Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DKP). It is necessary to know the current regulations of both sides to prepare for future inter-Korean exchanges. So the general notices of DKP to KP/KHP were compared. Most of the contents were similar except for some differences in expression. But, there was a difference in some of the articles. The collection time, primary processing, indication, and dosage are essential to the monographs only in DKP. And the size of powder form, drying condition, foreign material standard value, and labeling regulations was different on both sides. It is necessary to understand and respond to these differences so that they do not act as obstacles in inter-Korean exchanges in the future.

동북아 공정서의 동물성 한약재 현황

We researched to refer to the exchange of herbal medicines between countries and the improvement of the quality control system of herbal medicines. We compared the specifications of 99 animal-based medicinal materials in the five states of Northeast Asia including South Korea, North Korea, China, Taiwan, and Japan. By country, China had the most significant number with 86 kinds of animal-based medicinal materials, and South Korea ranked second with 52 items. Only 50% of the things were carried in just one country's pharmacopeia. And the quality specifications except for origin and character were not specified at all, or only one examination was prescribed. Since the quality control regulations of animal-based medicinal materials are insufficient, systematic researches on the quality specifications of animal-based medicinal materials are needed in the future.

The Impact of Ecosystem-based Alliance Formation on Financial Performances in the Korean Telecommunications Industry

The diffusion of smart devices has greatly influenced the market dynamics of the telecommunications industry. The competition paradigm has shifted from individual firm-based competition to ecosystem-based competition. To satisfy the diverse needs of market customers, it has become more important for telecommunications companies to form alliances with complementary partners in the ecosystem. This study empirically investigates the influence of ecosystem-based alliance formations on the financial performance of firms in the Korean telecommunications market. Specifically, the impact of a CPND (Content, Platforms, Networks, and Devices) alliance in the ICT (Information and Communications Technology) sector on firms’ profitability is examined using a structural equation model. The results indicate that before the diffusion of smart devices, ecosystem-based alliance formations with other firms in the ICT ecosystem were not effective for enhancing profitability. However, after this diffusion, alliance formation between members of the value chain in the ICT ecosystem contributed significantly to firms’ financial performance. This implies that recent alliances with firms that are constituents of the ICT ecosystem are an important element of profit generation in the ICT market in Korea.

Distribution maps are very important in biodiversity. The herbarium in Korea Institute of Oriental Medicine is serving the informations of plant specimen collecting locations by map images based on hypertext markup language. In this article, a simple method to display the geographic coordinate on web page is introduced. These map images are usable for not only web pages but also presswork, and quite efficient because it doesn't need any plugins or application programming interfaces.

The standards of medicinal herbs are provided differently in each nations. So the dissimilarity of the standards should be verified for the standardization of medicinal herbs. The requirements of ‘liquorice’ were compared among the Korean Pharmacopoeia (KP), the Japanese Pharmacopoeia (JP), Pharmacopoeia of the People’s Republic of China (ChP), Taiwan Herbal Pharmacopeia (THP), Hong Kong Chinese Materia Medica Standards (HCS), and the Pharmacopoeia of Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DP). There were different requirements of liquorice among the pharmacopoeias, such as the origin, morphological description, identification, purity, ash content, extract content, loss on drying, and the assay. The differences of standards among northeast-asian countries should be investigated thoroughly in terms of efficacy and safety. This study would be a helpful reference for the revision of the regulation on herbal medicine.

To understand the current status of medicinal plants planted in the Medicinal plants Garden of Hongneung Arboretum, we studied field and literature surveys. In the garden, there were 257 taxa in 86 families. Most common orders of those plants were Asterales, Rosales, Ranunculales, etc. And we listed up the Korean names, scientific names, Chinese names, herbal medicinal names, medicinal parts, and indications of the plants. The 158 taxa were included in the pharmacopeias of east-Asian countries, and 72 taxa were contained in herbal medicine textbooks, but the medicinal records of 27 taxa were not found. In the future, these plants shall be correctly identified, and appropriate names shall be written on the labels. And it will be more useful if the medicinal information of those plants is provided on the labels.
