주거지 치안환경과 범죄피해위험 인식 및 범죄두려움의 특성과 관계 연구

범죄두려움에 대한 최근의 연구들에서는 성, 연령, 경제수준, 범죄피해경험 등의 미시적인 개인수준과 지역의 무질서와 같은 거시적인 지역수준과의 연계를 시도하고 있다. 그러나 이 연구에서는 우선 독립변인인 주거지 치안환경 요인으로서 지역의 무질서, 결속력, 경찰활동에 대한 시민의 인식, 매개변인인 범죄피해위험 인지, 그리고 종속변인인 범죄두려움이 인구사회학적 특성에 따른 특성들이 어떠한지 살펴보며, 다음으로 주거지 치안환경의 어떠한 요인이 범죄두려움에 영향을 주는지를 알아보았다. 즉 이 연구는 각 변인들의 특성에 대해서 살펴보고, 궁극적으로 지역의 치안환경 의 어떠한 요인이 그리고 범죄피해위험 인지 요인이 범죄두려움에 영향을 주는지 실증적으로 검증하려는 데에 그 목적이 있다. 이 연구의 목적을 위해서 서울지역에 거주하는 시민을 대상으로 설문조사를 실시하였으며, 배부된 설문지 총 550부 중에 472부가 최종 통계분석에 사용되었다(85.8%). 이 연구의 결과, 치안환경 인식의 세 변인 중에서 지역무질서 요인이 범죄두려움에 직접적으로 영향을 미칠 뿐만 아니라 범죄피해위험 가능성의 인식을 통해서 간접적으로도 범죄두려움에 영향을 미치는 주요한 요인인 것으로 나타났다. Recent studies of the causation of the fear of crime have assessed variables related to either the micro (individual) level (e.g., sex, age, SES, level of crime victimization) or the macro (local) level (e.g., social and physical disorder). However, few studies empirically assess both the micro and macro levels. The purpose of this study is to examine how the neighborhood environment specifically influences on perceived risk of victimization based on Korean residents in the Seoul area. This quantitative assessment includes the neighborhood environment on a macro level (social and physical disorder, regional cohesion, and regional policing activities) and perceived risk of victimization on a micro level. A total of 550 respondents took part in the study, and 472 respondents fully completed the survey (85.8% of response rate). Hence, a usable sample of 472 self-report surveys of Korean residents in the Seoul area was analyzed for this study. The results show that social and physical disorder directly influences the fear of crime and the perceived risk of victimization. Findings also indicate that the perceived risk of victimization is the most substantial factor that contributes to the perceived risk of victimization. Futhermore, this analytic assessment uncovered that age, gender, and marital status difference deferentially contributes to the suggested causal factors and fear of crime.

Emotional Literacy Program and its Effectiveness -Potential Policy Implication in South Korea-

이 연구는 기존의 교정 및 재활 프로그램들이 재범률을 낮추는 것에 부적합하다는 주장들이 제기되고 있어, 그에 대한 대안으로 최근 주목을 받고 있는 정서문해력 프로그램의 활용도와 효과성에 대해 분석하는 것이 그 목적이다. 정서문해력프로그램은 평생 계속되는 폭력과 중독으로부터 수형자들이 희망적이고 건설적인 삶의 패턴을 가지고 사회에 잘 적응할 수 있도록 하는 재활을 목적으로 미국, 영국, 독일을 포함한 8 개국에서 현재 시행되고 있다. 이 연구에서는 전세계의 31개 학술지에 게제된 학술논문을 대상으로 메타분석 (Meta-Analysis)을 통해 정서문해력 프로그램의 활용에 대한 글로벌 트렌드를 실증적으로 검증하였다. 분석결과, 정서문해력 프로그램의 실효성에 대한 평가는 4 가지 요소 - 공감, 마음챙김, 자기조절, 자아존중감 - 가 주요 평가 대상으로 나타났으며, 끝으로 정잭적 제언에 대해 논의하였다. In recent years, implementing emotional literacy programs has been an emerging issue in the justice system; this is due to the fact that existing programs do not adequately minimize recidivism rates. Emotional literacy programs were recently introduced to change lifelong patterns of violence and addiction and to help people in building productive lives. The objective of this study was to examine the effectiveness of emotional literacy programs reflecting 8 multi-nations. A meta-analysis was conducted to delineate the global trend of emotional literacy program usage in justice systems. The data were derived from 31 peer reviewed journal articles about empirical tests and evaluations of emotional literacy program. This study identified 4 major factors - empathy, mindfulness, self-regulation, and self-esteem - that influence the evaluation of the program reflecting justice system worldwide, and the potential policy implications are discussed at the last part of this research.
