For the performance prediction of a planar-type solid oxide fuel cell, the computational analysis of transport phenomena with a simplified treatment of heat generation by the electrochemical reaction is conducted. From the result of the computational analysis, it is shown that the electrochemical reaction is closely related to the transport phenomena inside a solid oxide fuel cell. Transport phenomena including heat and mass transfer influences on the distribution of local current density and, as a result, on the performance characteristics of the fuel cell. Computational analysis is also extended to the parametric study to investigate the performance behavior of the fuel cell with different amount of supplied fuel flow rates. It is also demonstrated that the mathematical formulation and computational procedures proposed in this study can be applied to prove the importance of the specific TPB area in the manufacturing process of electrodes in solid oxide fuel cells.

HRSG(Heat Recovery Steam Generator) is one of the main components of CCPP(Combined Cycle Power Plant) and should be operated by appropriate procedure in case of start-up or shutdown. If an abnormal operation of HRSG occurs, the problem including fatigue failure can arises. Therefore, the performance of HRSG by dynamic analysis should be investigated. In this study, dynamic analysis for the HRSG system was carried out by commercial software, ProTRAX. The main variable for the analysis was the change of temperature and mass flow rate from gas turbine according to start-up(cold/warm/hot) and shutdown curve to dynamic analysis. The results showed that the exhaust gas condition of gas turbine was a main factor for performance of HRSG such as flow rate and temperature of main steam from final superheater.

Air cooled condenser for power plant is used at inland area of desert or mountainous area because condenser coolant like sea water is not necessary. However, the performance of air cooled condenser is influenced by ambient condition such as wind speed and air temperature. Therefore, various devices have been designed to improve the performance of air cooled condenser. In this study, the CFD analysis for air cooled condenser was carried out according to wind speed and wind screen configuration. As wind speed increased from 3m/s to 7m/s, the fan flow rate was reduced about 15.76% and the rise of inlet air temperature was 5.5 degree of Celsius. In case suitable wind screen is equipped, the fan flow rate went up about 5.2% and inlet air temperature dropped by 2.1 degree of Celsius in comparison with original case without wind screen at 7m/s wind speed.

중유(Heavy Fuel Oil)를 사용하는 엔진에서 배출되는 배기가스의 주요 오염물질은 NOx(질소산화물)과 : SOx(황산화물)이며 두 물질은 인체에 해로운 영향을 끼치는 것으로 알려져 있다. 따라서 각국에서는 NOx 및 SOx에 대한 환경 기준치를 마련하여 오염물질 배출을 억제토록 하고 있다. 당사에서는 당사 고유모델 중형엔진인 힘센엔진을 이용하여 쿠바에 PPS(Packaged Power Station)를 건설 중에 있으며 이에 따라 PPS로부터 배출되는 배기가스의 NOx 및 SOx 착지농도를 해석하여 Cuba의 환경 기준치를 만족하는지 여부를 확인할 필요가 있다. 이를 위해 쿠바 현지 Regla 지역의 실제 지형과 풍향 풍속을 고려한 NOx와 SOx의 확산 및 착지 농도 해석을 CFD(Computational Fluid Dynamics) 프로그램인 FLUENT를 이용하여 수행하였다. 해석 결과 NOx 기준치를 만족시키는 굴뚝 높이는 35m이며 NOx와 SOx를 동시에 만족시키는 굴뚝 높이는 37m였으며 쿠바 전력청과 협의를 통해 굴뚝 높이를 확정하였다.

대장균의 IciA 단백질은 DnaA 단백질의 작용장소에 결합하여 DNA의 복제가 개시되는 것을 막는다. 따라 서 IciA단백질은 세포주기의 주요 단계에서 결정적인 역할을 한다. 이러한 IciA 단백질의 구조와 기능간의 관 계를 연구하기 위하여 X-선 결정학을 이용하여 삼차원 구조를 결정하고자 한다. 그 첫 단계로 IciA단백질 결정화를 시도하였다. sodium formate를 침전제로 이용하여 결정을 얻을 수 있었다. Specific binding to the oric region of E, coli chromsome by IciA protein inhibits initiation of chrorrnsomal replication in vitro by blocking the opening of this region effected by the initiator DnaA protein. The IciA protein has been suggested play a critical role in a key stage of the cell cycle. In order to study the structure-function relationship of IciA protein, we are determining the three-dimensional structure of IciA Votein by X-ray crystallography, As a first step toward its structure detumination E. coli IciA protein has been crystallized using sodium formate as a precipitant.
