2D photonic crystal template for honeycomb structured transparent electrode

With the appearance of new kinds of electric device such as smart window, thin film solar cells, and light emitting device (LED) displays, transparent conducting electrodes have become essential elements in the electronic field. However, the conventional electrodes are fabricated by expensive and complicated techniques such as photo-lithography or vapor deposition. Here, we propose a facile and economical fabrication method of a transparent electrode using silver nanocrystals and micro-patterned structures. The micro-patterns were fabricated by a soft-lithographic technique with polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) replica molds prepared form polystyrene colloidal arrays. The transparency and sheet resistance of electrode were controlled by the size of pattern. In case of using a 2μm pattern, the silver electrode showed 72% transmittance over the visible range with sheet resistance of 60 Ω/sq.
